Match #1
Shark Boy vs. Sean O'Haire (w/ Daffney)
High Voltage this week started off right away with a match that could more accurately be described as a mugging. Sean O'Haire has been turned into an absolute ass-kicking machine thanks to the influence of his mentor, "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, and poor Shark Boy became just another victim. O'Haire decimated Shark Boy plain and simple, tossing him around before mercifully ending the carnage with a huge powerslam in record time.

Sean O'Haire pinned Shark Boy after a powerslam in 0:00:40.
Rating: *

O'Haire isn't getting paid by the hour, and he made quick work out of Shark Boy. O'Haire feels slighted that he didn't get his North American Title shot at Retribution because of Lance Storm's energy, and as a result, he's angry. I don't know if anyone is going to be able to stop him in the tournament.

Match #2
Non-Title Match
The Basham Brothers (World Tag Team champions) (w/ Shaniqua) vs. The Ring Crew Express
The World Tag Team champions were in action on High Voltage this week as they took on a team looking to make a good showing to GCW officials, the Ring Crew Express. Before the match started, Marcos and Dunn grabbed the mic and said that they were about to take it to the Bashams and "rock them like a hurricane." Well, somebody got rocked, and it certainly wasn't the Bashams. Shaniqua had her men in a particularly foul mood tonight and Marcos and Dunn were the unfortunate recipients of a first-class ass kicking. Doug and Danny were in little to no mood to mess around with the Ring Crew Express, making short work of them as Danny crushed Marcos with the Brain Damage and Doug finished Dunn off with a flying legdrop.

The Basham Brothers (Doug Basham and Danny Basham) defeated The Ring Crew Express (Dunn and Marcos) when Doug Basham pinned Dunn after a flying legdrop in 0:02:55.
Rating: ** 1/2

Shaniqua has her men on track now after they had a rough couple of weeks. Shaniqua is one of the most sinister individuals in Global Championship Wrestling, and she has the Bashams looking as dangerous as I've seen them in GCW. With the Bashams wrestling like this, and with Shaniqua and the mammoth Abyss lingering in the shadows, this looks like bad news for the tag team division. The Hardy Boyz will have the next chance to dethrone the Bashams at Trick or Trouble.

Match #3
Charlie Haas vs. Eric Angle
We were hoping to get a bit more competitive match and that's exactly what we got here as Eric Angle put his undefeated streak on the line against Charlie Haas. Angle and Haas have met once before, obviously with Angle coming out the winner. Haas has wrestled mostly in tag team matches, but he has all the tools to be successful in the singles ranks as well. Both of these men use mat wrestling as their main forms of offense and what resulted was a showcase of mat work. Although Eric Angle doesn't quite have the amateur resume' that his brother Kurt does, he was still an accomplished amateur. Charlie Haas was an All-American wrestler at Seton Hall, so he knows how to get it done as well. Many of the fans didn't find the match to be too exciting, but if you're a fan of mat wrestling, this was as enjoyable a match as you're ever going to see.

Haas got the advantage of Angle more often than not, which led to this match deteriorating into a brawl. After Haas had gotten the better of Angle in an exchange, Angle resorted to an eye gouge to get the momentum back his way. Angle hit Haas with a couple of bodyslams and elbowdrops before going for the Angle Slam, but Haas wasn't nearly worn down enough for that and Haas countered it and brought Angle to the mat. Haas tried to lock Angle in the Haas of Pain, but Angle managed to roll him up, and with the aid of a pull of the tights, Angle stole a victory to keep his unbeaten streak in tact.

Eric Angle pinned Charlie Haas after a roll up in 0:05:51.
Rating: ***

Eric Angle rolled out of the ring in a hurry, which is uncommon for someone to do when they've committed a robbery. Charlie Haas pleaded his case with referee Antonio Santangelo, but the ref can only call what he sees, and what he saw was Haas' shoulders down on the mat for the three.

Match #4
MAIN EVENT
North American Title Tournament - First Round
The Hurricane vs. Abyss (w/ Shaniqua)
Our main event was a first round match from the North American Title Tournament, and on paper, it was certainly a mismatch as The Hurricane had to somehow find a way to overcome the immense size and power of Shaniqua's mammoth Abyss. Much of this match was exactly what you would expect, and that was Abyss helping The Hurricane prove that he could fly by throwing him all over the ring. The Hurricane kept fighting, even getting Abyss off his feet a couple of times, but The Hurricane was going to need a lucky break if he was going to advance by the way this match was transpiring.

Late in the match, Abyss irish whipped Hurricane into the corner. Abyss followed in, but Hurricane caught him with a boot to the face that staggered the big man. Hurricane caught Abyss with a couple jumping clothesline before bringing Abyss down with a flying crossbody for a nearfall. The Hurricane was looking to pull the upset when he went for the Shining Wizard, but Abyss ducked and grabbed the Man In Green by the throat. Abyss choke slammed The Hurricane to the canvas, but he didn't release the chokehold. Referee JD Sanders tried to get Abyss to release the hold, but after the five count was administered, Abyss was still choking The Hurricane. Sanders called for the bell and disqualified Abyss.

[North American Title Tournament - First Round]:
The Hurricane defeated Abyss by disqualification in 0:09:48.
Rating: ** 1/4

Abyss had absolutely lost it, and no one was sure why, not even Shaniqua! The GCW Official Brigade ran to the ring and tried to pull Abyss off of our friendly neighborhood Hurricane, but with little luck. Finally Shaniqua got in the ring and said something to Abyss that got him to let go of the choke. The Hurricane was a little worse for wear, but he is officially the winner, albeit he doesn't look like it. Regardless, The Hurricane is in the quarterfinals.

RING CREW EXPRESS!  YES!  The greatest jobber tag team in wrestling today has come to GCW!  <Air guitar>

And they lost!  How unpredictable!  Are they going to be a permanant addition to the roster, or was that a one shot jobber squash?

Poor Shark Boy got splatted.

Eric Angle keeps his winning streak alive!  Considering he remains undefeated, I think more should be made of this - he should be wrestling or at least making appearances on your big show.

And The Hurricane wins against Abyss?!?  Shocking!  Granted, it was via DQ (mmm...  Dairy Queen...) but the fact remains that Hurricane advances.  I'd like to see him win every tournament match by fluke and take the title.  But that's just me.

For now, the RCE's appearance was a one-shot jobber squash.  My roster is pretty bulky as is (at 45 wrestlers, 41 active w/ 4 injuries) so I don't have room for them.  I'll probably be using them semi-frequently on High Voltage though for awhile.  I have tentative (note, very tentative) plans to perhaps have them develop like the Hardyz did in WWE.  A smaller jobber tag team that eventually works their way onto the main roster.

I do have plans for Eric Angle to get a lot more exposure.  I just have to get to a certain point before I can start utilizing him how I want to.  He'll be getting much more time on Explosion soon enough.

And I totally want a Blizzard now.  Fucker.
