Match observations:

Well the leagues are finally finished save for the tie breaker matches, and let me
tell you that we saw some suprising outcomes when all was said and done. We also saw
two title defenses here tonight as Shelton Benjamin and Vader battled for Benjamin's
TV Title in a rematch from show 2, and Kenta Kobashi defended the Heavyweight Title
against Jun Akiyama. We'll take you to the match recaps now.

In our first bout of the evening, Great Kabuki pulled off a low road win against
Tetsuhiro Kuroda, who had to be helped to back to have his eyes flushed after the
match. Kabuki may have just made a very formidable enemy in Kuroda.

Our next match saw the two concluding matches of League 1. In the first match
Christopher Daniels was able to pull out a win over Bryan Danielson. American Dragon
didn't look quite as good as he usually does, and when we tracked him down after the
match he said he had been feeling under the weather and he thinks that might have
given Daniels the upper-hand.

Ultimo Dragon and Tajiri had the honor of bringing League 1 action to a close. They
did so in an excellent fashion as well, having a 15+ min back and forth battle.
Tajiri was the recipiant of the biggest Dragon Screw in history when Ultimo countered
the Kick Of Death with one. Tajiri just couldn't come back after that and Ultimo put
Tajiri away shortly after.

With League 1 being finished Ezaki came out and announced the tie between Daniels and
Danielson. He then announced that there would be a tie breaker match to take place at
the next NWJ event.

In our first League 2 wrap up match, CM Punk finally got a win. Sasuke just couldn't
match upto the slightly larger Punk, and it didn't take long for Punk to put him away
with the Pepsi Plunge.

In our final League 2 match, Dragon Kid pinned Tiger Mask with the Stardust Press.
But not before a very good technical match was put on. Amazingly enough there wasn't
as much high flying in this match as you might have expected, just some good old
technical mat wrestling. Dragon Kid finally took the air though, and that was the
upperhand he needed to pick up the win.

Ezaki also announced a tie in League 2, again saying that Tiger Mask and Dragon Kid
would have a match at the next even to determine the winner of the league.

In the very oddly booked 3rd League, we saw 6 matches tonight. At least one member of
Minoru Super Plus or Team EGO was involved in every match. Needless to say they where
all great matches. What suprised us the most was the small infighting between the
Minoru's after their matchup. Luckly "Minoru" Kanyon came down to iron things out
between the two, and after a handshake things appear to be back to normal.

Finally, a League with a real winner. Eiji Ezaki headed to the ring one last time,
this time to congradulate Magnum TOKYO on his 1st place victory in League 3. TOKYO
will not have to fight in a match on the next card leaving him more fresh than his
opponents going into the Jr. Heavyweight 3 way match.

Our semi-main event was next. It saw a rematch from our second show. Vader once again
fell prey to the Dragon Whip and Shelton Benjamin proved his fighting spirit to the
fans here in Tokyo who gave him a standing ovation during his celebration. Vader
however was not so happy, and vowed to get some revenge on Benjamin.

In the main event, Kenta Kobashi had his first Heavyweight Title defense against
Jun Akiyama. Akiyama is a tough opponent and gave Kobashi a tough run, even hitting
his feared Exploder Suplex, which scored him a near fall, but couldn't quite put the
champ down for the count. Kobashi came back hitting some powerful moves and finally
nailing the Burning Lariat to pick up his first successful title defense.

Well that's all for NWJ for this week. We hope you'll continue to support us in the
future. Thanks and have a great night!

Is Vader completely afraid of Benjamin now? Cause Shelton keeps ROCKING him!
CarlzillaPosted on 12/03/04 at 02:19:34

I would imagine him being furious...Benjamin has knocked him out of title contention completely.
