Dynamite Kid pinned Steve Williams with the Swandive Headbutt in 0:05:56.
Rating: *** 1/4

Dynamite Kid had the chance to right the wrong of three weeks ago when Steve
Williams upset him in a grudge match. The rematch had more behind it when
Terry Gordy made his way out to make himself a distraction. Dynamite was in
no moord today however, and took care of Gordy the moment he looked like
becoming a threat. Bringing it down to one on one, Dynamite was in too fine
form to drop this one and registered an excellent victory. Now Dynamite has
another challenge on his hands - co-existing with Jody Fleisch in the World
Cup of Wrestling.

La Resistance (Rene Dupree and Sylvain Grenier) defeated
The Rock'n'Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) when S. Grenier pinned
R. Gibson with the Coup de Grace in 0:10:28.
Rating: ** 1/2

La Resistance, it was said, haven't had a major challenge since their debut
last month. Today though, that undefeated streak was definitely being
challenged as they took on the Rock'n'Roll Express. The former champions were
up for this match, but first the French duo wanted to let us all know how much
they loved America, and if they could make sure that the number of illiterate,
innumerate and backwards Americans could be cut down, it'd be perfect. Suffice
to say, they received a negative response for this, but they claimed they're
just saying that there are a few and everyone would be better off without them,
but by now, they'd lost the crowd. So the match got underway, and the Express
looked good, as good as they did as champions, but La Resistance have both
craftiness and luck on their side. After the Express hit a sidewinder on
Grenier, it looked over, but while the ref ushered Ricky Morton out, Dupree hit
a legdrop off the top onto Gibson who was making the cover. Grenier got up and
hit the Coup de Grace for the victory. The next step for them is to continue
their undefeated run this Sunday when they participate in the World Cup of
Wrestling, taking on Team Canada in their first match - neither team will be
fan favourites there, but it should make for a great contest.

Mando Guerrero pinned Tajiri with the Mandosault in 0:04:04.
Rating: *** 1/4

Los Guerreros have a big night ahead this Sunday, as Mando Guerrero challenges
for the cruiserweight title and Chavo & Hector enter the World Cup of Wrestling
against Hayabusa and Tajiri. To hype this a little, Mando took on Tajiri
tonight. Tajiri had control for the better part, but Hectors persisting
cheating on the outside allowed Mando to steal a win after Mando distracted
the ref and Hector punched Tajiri in the back of the head. After the bell,
Eddie and Chavo ran down and the four quadruple teamed the fallen Tajiri,
while we got word that Hayabusa had been floored in the back. By the time
officials managed to pull Los Guerreros out, Tajiri was clearly hurt, and had
to be helped out. Now we await news on his condition going into the World Cup
of Wrestling.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match:
Bobby Eaton pinned Dean Malenko with the Alabama Jam in 0:13:17.
Rating: **** 1/4

Bobby Eaton and Dean Malenko had a score to settle and the two were thrown into
a falls count anywhere match to do just that. The two brawled it out around the
ringside area and went for the cover several times, but it ended up in the
ring after Dean Malenko had missed an elbowdrop to the outside and hit the
edge of the announce table. Malenko was banged up quite badly from that, Eaton
threw him back in and hit the Alabama Jam to get the win.

Alex Wright pinned Chavo Guerrero Jr. with the Deutsch Suplex in 0:04:50.
Rating: ***

Alex Wright was victorious as well today, beating a game Chavo Guerrero. As
one half of Team Germany, we awaited to see if he'd reveal who his partner is
today, but Wright simply said that the time wasn't right, and he'd bring him
out on the night.

The Syndicate (Lance Storm and Ken Shamrock) defeated
Los Villanos (Villano IV and Villano V) when Shamrock defeated Villano IV by
countout in 0:04:12.
Rating: ** 1/4
(The Syndicate retained the Intercontinental Tag Team Titles.)

The Syndicate had a routine title defense today against Los Villanos. A little
tester for the Intercontinental Tag Team Champs, they ousted their opponents
after the two teams began brawling on the outside and Shamrock belly to belly
suplexed a Villano into the guardrail, forcing him to be counted out. A fairly
straight forward win for the champs but none the less, they show no signs of
slipping up right now.

Rob Van Dam pinned Boris Zhukov after a flying bodypress in 0:03:21.
Rating: 3/4*

With the World Cup of Wrestling just six days away, Team Russia wanted another
chance to showcase their talents ahead of their one off appearance in the
tournament. Now it was Boris Zhukovs turn to impress, only it wasn't quite as
clear cut as that, as Rob Van Dam answered the challenge in an early taster
of the Team America versus Team Russia quarter final match. Van Dam looked
impressive (though unaware he'd even manage to turn up) and got a good win.
Looks like things just got a little more interesting.

John Cenas double cross last week on Billy Kidman was the main focus of todays
show, with everyone awaiting his reasons. Inevitably, there were thoughts of
"evil" from Cena, but this years King of the Ring had his reasons. Appearing
on the Kings Court today, Cena criticised what he called Kidmans idiotic level
of trust, happy to side himself with the very guy he's supposed to be facing,
who also just happens to be "the most evil force in wrestling". And with such
a turn comes some decent sized cheers from the fans. For the past year and a
half, Cena has been on the side of evil, so to speak, but still seemed to have
develop a sort of following. The momentum to be garnered now though could well
lead him to the world title.

Steve Corino (c) vs "Unnecessarily Evil" John Cena (television title match)

More so for Cena when Matt Hardy exercised his rights to force Steve Corino
into a title defense at the threat of stripping him of the TV title, and Corino
was thrown up against Cena. After a little negotiating, Matt Hardy agreed to
two stipulations - Cena would not be allowed to intentionally target Corinos
injured arm and Corino would not be allowed to use his cast as a weapon. Of
course, every move delivered from Cena, every bodyslam, every suplex, it
brought out debate from the announcers and Billy Kidman (on colour commentary)
as to whether Cena had deliberately focused on the arm when Corino hit the
mat. Whatever the truth, Cena was flying against the one-armed Corino. After
Corino was left flat on the mat by Cena, the Eighth Deadly Sin seemed to be a
step away from becoming television champion. But as Cena lifted Corino off the
mat, Corino levelled him with the cast, causing a DQ. Kidman quickly dropped
his headset and set about double teaming Cena. Eventually the referee brigade
managed to usher them away, but the damage was clearly done. Kidman is no
doubt out for revenge after what Cena did last week, perhaps this Sunday will
be his chance.

John Cena defeated Steve Corino by disqualification in 0:12:14.
Rating: **
(Steve Corino retained the Television Title.)

Card rating: ** 1/2

Match observations:

Brian Pillmans run as of late has really caught the eye of observers, and he
looks like becoming a major player very soon. Another man threatening to
become make an impact is Larry Zbyszko, having added Raven to an incredible
string of victories, on top of wins over Jerry Lynn, Rob Van Dam and Chris
Jericho. With both men being tipped to be challenging for the title very soon,
the two have been paired off at Retribution. Pillman doesn't seem impressed
however, and in an interview today, predicted that when Zbyszko is bleeding
from the neck up, he'll know he just had a brush with the Loose Cannon.
