[GCW] Monday Night Explosion - 9/6/04

Snabbit888Posted on 11/13/04 at 20:46:30

The Thomas and Mack Center was rocking as GCW invaded Sin City for Monday Night Explosion! Las Vegas was our next stop as we are only 13 days away from Retribution. More matches would be announced for Retribution by the night's end, but we also had a big card tonight! In our main event, it would be a six-man tag team match featuring World Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, and Steve Bradley taking on Chris Benoit, Booker T, and Television champion and number-one contender Rey Mysterio Jr.! Also, the Cruiserweight Title will be on the line as Paul London defends against The Amazing Red of the Revolution! Shark Boy and Teddy Hart will meet in a Falls-Count-Anywhere match and we will also see the in-ring return of Shawn Michaels! Let's get right to it!

* * * * *

[GCW President Ryan Niemiller is in his office talking on the phone. He is listening intently when the door swings open and in storms Booker T. Booker T has his ribs taped up from last week's attack by Steve Bradley and his baseball bat. Booker is fuming as Niemiller gives him a look.]

RN: Yeah, that sounds good. Hey, let me call you back.

[Niemiller hangs up the phone.]

RN: Now how can I help...

BT: You know exactly how you can help me! Booker T... Steve Bradley... Retribution!

RN: I'm a step ahead of you, Booker. The match has been signed and it will take place at Retribution in Portland.

BT: That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I'm gonna punk that sucka out for what he did to me! What he did to my ribs is gonna be nothin' compared to what I do to his punk ass! Now can you dig that?

[Before Niemiller can say anything, Booker T is out of the room. Niemiller shakes his head and laughs a bit before picking the phone up and dialing a few numbers. He turns his chair around and puts the phone to his ear. Just then, Booker re-enters the office.]

BT: SUCKAAAAAAAA!

[A startled Niemiller jumps out of his chair, throwing the phone into the air. Booker T laughs before leaving the office. Niemiller laughs and composes himself, picking up the phone and putting it back up to his ear.]

RN: Ha ha. Sorry about that.... Oh, Booker T was calling me a sucka... Nevermind. Now...

[Niemiller stops speaking as Tommy Dreamer, Perry Saturn, and Red - The Revolution - are standing in front of Niemiller's desk, all with their arms crossed. They're all wearing brand-new "The Revolution - The Time Is Now!" t-shirts. They also do not look to be in the best of moods. There must be something going around.]

TD: Got a question for you, Niemiller. What does this shirt say?

RN: Um... The Revolution - The Time Is Now.

TD: Did you hear that, Perry?

PS: I sure did, Tommy.

TD: Did you hear that, Red?

R: You betcha.

TD: The time is NOW, Niemiller. Not tomorrow, not a week from now, not next year, but right now. We looked at the breakdown for tonight's show, and we're a little confused.

RN: And why might that be?

TD: Red has a match, but I didn't see me or Perry Saturn on that list. We want to work hard, Niemiller...

RN: MISTER Niemiller, thank you.

TD: Whatever. We want to work hard, we want to show everyone that we deserve to be here, but how can we get that opportunity if we're not getting matches?

RN: I shouldn't do this considering your actions in the battle royal last week, but you guys want a match tonight? You want to prove yourselves? You got it. It'll be Tommy Dreamer and Perry Saturn against the two-time World Tag Team champions, the World's Greatest Tag Team. Now get out of my office, please.

TD: No problem. Thank you.

PS: Watch our match closely!

RN: Sure thing.

[The Revolution leave, presumably happy with their big opportunity tonight. Niemiller shakes his head and once again picks up the phone. Cut to the ring.]

Match #1
Low-Ki/"Primetime" Elix Skipper vs. "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels/Sean O'Haire (w/ Daffney)
We started off the wrestling action tonight with a heated tag team match as Low-Ki and Elix Skipper took on Christopher Daniels and Sean O'Haire, the number-one contender for the North American Title. This one has been a long time coming ever since the breakup of Triple X. Daniels turned his back on Low-Ki and Skipper, deciding that Sean O'Haire was a better investment. Apparently Elix Skipper and Low-Ki weren't a part of this "prophecy" Daniels has been speaking of. Or maybe "He" didn't approve of them. Regardless, this was going to be a big one.

Low-Ki and Elix Skipper didn't need any coaxing to get fired up for this one, as they had plenty of motivation. As a result, they were able to overwhelm the Prophecy for the majority of this match. They were doing everything right and Daniels and O'Haire couldn't seem to get anything going. Late in the contest, Skipper had Daniels reeling. Skipper bounced off the ropes, but O'Haire clubbed him in the back. This didn't sit well with Low-Ki, who jumped in the ring and hit O'Haire with a stiff kick, knocking him to the floor. Referee Antonio Santangelo tried to get Low-Ki out of the ring, which kept him tied up long enough for Daffney to jump in the ring and nail Elix Skipper with a low blow! Skipper crumpled in the ring as Santangelo got Low-Ki out of the ring. When the ref turned around, all he saw was the Fallen Angel hitting Primetime with a gutwrench suplex and he made the three count.

The Prophecy (Christopher Daniels and Sean O'Haire) defeated Elix Skipper and Low-Ki when Daniels pinned Skipper after a gutwrench suplex in 0:08:40.
Rating: *** 1/4

Low-Ki tried to break up the count but he was too late as Daniels, O'Haire, and Daffney fled the area having stolen a victory. Skipper was a little worse for wear, but he was more upset that the match was taken away from him. A small setback, but Low-Ki and Elix Skipper will live to fight another day. Christopher Daniels and Sean O'Haire are victorious. Next up, Sean O'Haire's shot at the North American Title.

Match #2
Falls-Count-Anywhere Match
Shark Boy vs. Teddy Hart
In the past two weeks, Shark Boy has gotten the better of Teddy Hart, first in a regular match and then beating him in a Two out of Three Falls Match in two straight falls. Hart wanted one more shot at Shark Boy, and this time it is falls-count-anywhere. Shark Boy once again began the match with his more playful tactics, trying to get Hart out of his game. And it worked to a certain extent, until the match spilled to the floor. Shark Boy tried for an irish whip, but the Canadian reversed it causing Shark Boy's left shoulder to collide hard into the ringpost. Shark Boy tried to fight back, but his left arm was rendered useless in this match as Hart worked over the shoulder, hitting it with anything he could get his hands on. They brawled under the crowd and ring area for a bit, but Hart got Shark Boy back in the ring and locked him in a Fujiwara armbar. Shark Boy's shoulder was too injured to fight the pain and he had to submit.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Match:
Teddy Hart made Shark Boy submit to a Fujiwara armbar in 0:08:11.
Rating: ****

Teddy Hart had redeemed himself with this win, but he wasn't satisfied with just the victory. Hart refused to release the hold as he continued to pull back on the Fujiwara armbar. Shark Boy was screaming in pain but Hart wasn't letting go. Finally Hart released the hold, but not until THE HURRICANE intervened and chased him off. Hart went to the back, but not before telling The Hurricane he should stay out of his business. These two have had their run-ins before, and were even tag team partners for a bit. It looks like all the tensions haven't died down yet.

[We are backstage with the 75% of the Sensationals - Steve Bradley, Randy Orton, and World Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle. Angle is in the process of rallying the troops.]

KA: We have to assert ourselves tonight, guys. The past few weeks, Mysterio, Benoit, Booker, they've all been a thorn in the side of the Sensationals. And it's been because we haven't been working as a team. We're the Sensationals! We're the top athletes in the world today. We need to start acting like it! It's true!

RO: Don't you worry about a thing, Kurt. Chris Benoit doesn't realize what he's gotten himself into. He needs to understand that he is messing with a legend in the making. I am Randy Orton, a third generation superstar. I am only 24 years old... I am a prodigy. Benoit's jealous that what has taken him almost 20 years to do, I've done by age 24. You may have took his title, Kurt, but I'm going to take his spirits, his pride, and his dignity!

KA: That's what I'm talking about. You ready, Steve? Booker T seemed pretty upset earlier.

SB: I don't give a damn how Booker T is feeling! What I did last week was cold, calculated, and just plain sick... and I loved it. I loved hearing Booker scream every time I brought Mofo here crashing into his flesh! Busting his ribs up felt damn good, and at Retribution, Booker T is going to wish I was only hitting his ribs with a baseball bat! Booker's gonna find out the hard way who his daddy is.

KA: You see that? That's the fire I like to see! Now where in the heck is Chris?

RO: I talked to him earlier. He said he was going to see the trainer.

KA: What's wrong with him?

RO: Didn't say.

KA: Fine. He loses his turn then. As for me, tonight I get to start showing the world that Rey Mysterio's alleged "victories" over me were all cheap, tainted, unjust, and wrong. I am an Olympic champion. A hero to millions of people not only here in America but all over the world. I am a model citizen in addition to being a world-class athlete. So how in the world could a 12-year old beat me without cheating? It's impossible! Being a man of integrity, normally I wouldn't advocate hitting a child, but Mysterio has left me no choice. I'm going to give that young man a healthy dose of the ol' whoop butt! I'm going to teach him more about wrestling and pain than he ever wanted to know! I'm going to beat Mysterio so badly, that he'll be so tore up that he'll have to wear a mask to cover it up!

RO: Um... Kurt?

KA: What?

RO: Rey Mysterio Jr. already does wear a mask.

KA: Hrm... well... he'll have to wear two masks! And never correct me again... it sickens me.

RO: Heh.

KA: Let's get focused here. We have a match to prepare for tonight...

[And with that, we cut back to the ring for our next match.]

Match #3
The World's Greatest Tag Team vs. The Revolution ("The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer/Perry Saturn) (w/ The Amazing Red)
Tommy Dreamer and Perry Saturn demanded that they get a match tonight, and GCW President Ryan Niemiller gave them a match against the former two-time World Tag Team champions, the World's Greatest Tag Team. You have to appreciate the Revolution's wanting to earn their spot and work their way up the card, but a noticeable shift in the attitudes of Dreamer, Saturn, and Red have been quite evident.

Dreamer and Saturn were ready for this match, but Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin aren't called the World's Greatest Tag Team for nothing. It's amazing to think that it was just a few weeks ago that Haas and Benjamin were fighting each other. They seem to have righted the ship, showing exactly why they have held the World Tag Team Titles on two separate occasions. After a solid match, Benjamin was able to catch Saturn with the Dragon Whip and give the WGTT a victory as they look forward to Retribution.

The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) defeated The Revolution (Perry Saturn and Tommy Dreamer) when S. Benjamin pinned Saturn with the Dragon Whip in 0:05:50.
Rating: ***

Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin continue to pick up steam as they prepare to meet their friends, the Hardy Boyz, at Retribution with a World Tag Team Title shot up for grabs. That's sure to be a tremendous matchup.

Match #4
"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels vs. "The Reflection of Perfection" Mark Jindrak
Shawn Michaels hasn't wrestled for three weeks due to a sore back courtesy of a steel chair shot from Chris Jericho at Summer Sizzler. HBK made his return tonight against "The Reflection of Perfection" Mark Jindrak, one-half of the Italian Stallions. Jindrak wrestled a good match, but the Heartbreak Kid looked like he hadn't missed a beat, keeping Jindrak off his toes early. What HBK didn't expect was for CHRIS JERICHO to come out to the top of the ramp during the match. And to make matters worse, Jericho was wearing a back brace, blatantly mocking Shawn Michaels' legitimate back injury. Y2J's antics at the top of the ramp were distracting, but not enough to keep HBK from hitting the Sweet Chin Music to pick up the win.

Shawn Michaels pinned Mark Jindrak with the Sweet Chin Music in 0:07:56.
Rating: *** 1/2

Shawn Michaels didn't take time to celebrate though as he instead grabbed a microphone from ringside.

* * * * *

["The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels is a little out of breath from his match, but he speaks with a lot of fire and passion. As Michaels speaks, Chris Jericho continues to mock him by pretending his back is hurt.]

HBK: You know, Jericho, I used to be just like you. I used to do these cute little things, mocking other wrestlers, but ultimately all it ever got me was an ass kicking for my troubles! You see the comparison here? Jericho, you're gonna get your ass kicked!

[Big crowd pop]

HBK: But we don't have to wait until Retribution, Chris. We can do this thing right here, right now in Las Vegas, Nevada!

[A huge crowd pop for this. Michaels motions for Jericho to come down to the ring, but Jericho refuses, instead limping to the locker rooms holding his back., garnering a round of boos from the fans. A frustrated Michaels throws the mic down and leaves the ring heading to the back after Jericho. Cut to commercial.]

Match #5
North American Title Match
Lance Storm (c) (w/ Dawn Marie) vs. Chuck Palumbo
I know a lot of you are thinking right now, "Why is Chuck Palumbo getting a shot at the North American Title?" The answer is simple. Originally, this match was a non-title match, but Lance Storm, the North American champion, specifically requested that this match be for the title. Storm wants to be a fighting champion, so Palumbo got a huge opportunity in the Sin City. Storm was his regular mistake free self, frustrating the big Italian throughout this match with his technical expertise. Palumbo is a big tough Italian though, and he was able to get his licks in on the Calgary native. Late in the match, Palumbo caught Storm with a flapjack, but when Storm hit, he tried to soften the impact with his arms. When he hit the mat, he landed awkwardly and was in obvious pain as he clutched his right shoulder. Palumbo and referee Jimmy Appleseed both looked concerned about what happened, but Palumbo soon went back on the attack with a couple stomps before pulling Storm up to his feet. Palumbo hit the ropes, but as he came back, Storm nailed him with a superkick. The hurting Lance Storm quickly locked on the Maple Leaf and Palumbo tapped out, allowing Storm to retain his title.

Lance Storm made Chuck Palumbo submit to the Maple Leaf in 0:09:36.
Lance Storm tore his right rotator cuff. He will be out for approximately 7 months.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Lance Storm retained the GCW North American Title.)

A concerned Dawn Marie jumped into the ring to check on Lance Storm as he held his right shoulder. Dawn Marie and Jimmy Appleseed helped Storm to the back. We have since found out that Storm has suffered a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder and it looks like it will require major surgery, most likely putting him out of action for quite some time. Word has it that Lance Storm is insisting that he will defend his North American Title at Retribution against Sean O'Haire, but at this point, I just can't see it happening. We will keep you updated on the status of the North American Title.

[We cut backstage to where "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown is standing by. Joey O'Donnell and Brian Wagner conduct the interview from the announce position.]

JO: We're being joined now by Monty Brown. Monty, you asked for some time on tonight's broadcast. What do you have to say?

MB: It's very simple, Joey. Brock Lesnar thinks he can push everybody around, bully everyone and that makes him something special. Well Brock, bigger and better men than you have tried to push the Alpha Male around, and I've left them all lying! I'm the one man that you're not going to push around!

BW: Monty, are you out of your mind? Brock Lesnar is a monster! Do you have a death wish or something?

MB: Lesnar might be a monster, but even monsters are going to feel the Pounce!

JO: Well if anybody can match strength and power with Brock Lesnar, it would be you.

MB: Exactly. Usually Brock Lesnar is the big dog in the yard. Well this dog bites back! Brock, you and me, Retribution. You will feel the POOOOOOOOOOOOOUNCE!

JO: Thank you for your time, Monty.

[Monty Brown stares at the camera, huffing and puffing.]

BW: This guy is nuts...

[Cut to commercial.]

Match #6
"Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero vs. Goldust
The past few weeks have not been good to Eddie Guerrero, but he looked to be in a better mood this week as he came out in another one of his custom low riders for his match with Goldust. As the match began, we learned from commentators Joey O'Donnell and Brian Wagner that a match between Eddie Guerrero and Chavo Guerrero Jr. has been signed for Retribution. This was a very even matchup between two veterans of the ring who have been up and down the road many times. Latino Heat was picking up some momentum in the latter stages of this bout, hitting Goldust with the Three Amigos suplexes. Guerrero had the crowd fired up as he went to the top rope, calling for the Frog Splash. Eddie soared through the air and nailed a perfect Frog Splash, but before he could go for the cover, we heard "OOOOOOOOOOH CHAVO!" blare over the PA system and out came Chavo Guerrero Jr. with a large steel chain in his hands. Chavo taunted Eddie, threatening to hit the low rider with the chain. Latino Heat got a deadly serious look on his face as Eddie is very protective of his low riders. Chavo smiled before he took the chain and smashed it across the windshield of the low rider, shattering the glass. Eddie jumped out of the ring and sprinted up the ramp and went after Chavo, not noticing that he was being counted out.

Goldust defeated Eddie Guerrero by countout in 0:06:53.
Rating: ** 1/2

Eddie Guerrero chased Chavo around the low rider for a bit before he made a lunge at him over the hood. Chavo Guerrero Jr. was able to side step the lunge and pop Eddie in the face with the chain, knocking him out cold. Chavo picked Eddie up and slammed Eddie's head on the hood of the low rider before officials ran in and broke things up. This was a vicious attack by Chavo Guerrero Jr., and we were looking to find out exactly why as Mario Riviera caught Chavo backstage.

* * * * *

[Chavo Guerrero Jr. is walking at a quick rate as Mario Riviera catches up with him.]

MR: Chavo! Chavo! Why did you attack Eddie Guerrero with a steel chain?

[Chavo stops and gives Riviera a nasty look.]

CGJr.: Why did I attack Eddie? You speak Spanish, don't you, Mario?

MR:Yes I do.

CGJr.: Then why don't you tell all these people what Eddie said to me last week.

MR: Well, he more or less said you were... no longer a member of his family.

CGJr: You hear that everybody? Eddie said I am no longer a member of his family! What kind of thing is that to say? Eddie, we grew up like brothers. We trained together, went to all the shows in El Paso together, did everything together! We've been through the good and the bad together! And now you suddenly have reasons to doubt me? Eddie, I am *NOT* Black Tiger. I have told you time and time again, and yet for some reason, you don't want to believe me! So this is how it's gotta be, Eddie. If you won't believe me, I'll have to beat some sense into you. Now get the hell out of my face, Mario.

[Chavo pushes Riviera out of the way as he head toward his locker room. Riviera tries to compose himself as we cut back to the ring.]

Match #7
Cruiserweight Title Match
Paul London (c) vs. The Amazing Red
Paul London put his Cruiserweight Title on the line against The Amazing Red in our next match. Due to his impressive performance last week in the North American Title battle royal, Red was granted this title shot. London and Red showed the world why they're the future of this business as they wrestled a fantastic high flying match. Not only has Paul London shown that he is a premiere high flier, but he is also very well versed in chain wrestling, and he showcased that ability very well in this one. Red is a tenacious young man though, and he certainly gave London a couple of scares in this one, including hitting a Red Star Press which got a nearfall. However, Paul London is on such a roll right now and that continued in this one as he hit Red with a swinging facebuster to retain his title.

Paul London pinned Red after a swinging facebuster in 0:05:21.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Paul London retained the GCW Cruiserweight Title.)

A solid performance by both men, but London keeps his title. Paul London was about to have some problems though as Red's stablemates in the Revolution, Tommy Dreamer and Perry Saturn ran down to the ring and attacked the Cruiserweight champion. Paul London tried to fight back, but with 3-on-1 odds, he was quickly overwhelmed. Luckily for London, his tag team partner BILLY KIDMAN ran in for the save, but the odds also were too great for him as Saturn dropped him with a Death Valley Driver. Having made their point, The Revolution headed to the back. We have been told that next week on Explosion, the number-one contenders to the tag team titles, Paul London and Billy Kidman, will take on Tommy Dreamer and Perry Saturn.

* * * * *

[We cut away to a pre-taped vignette. We see a tall man walking down a busy street in New York City. This man is wearing a nice looking suit along with a large white cowboy hat. This interview is done with the man walking toward the camera the entire time with the camera panning back. At the bottom of the screen, it reads, "JOHN BRADSHAW LAYFIELD" as he begins to speak.]

JBL Hi. My name is John Bradshaw Layfield, and I'm better than you. I am here in New York City, the city that never sleeps. I grew up a good ol' country boy in Texas, but I worked hard to improve myself and to better my situation. Now I am a world-class athlete. I am an expert on Wall Street. I am a highly sought after financial analyst. I am so set financially that I could easily retire and live a full and rich life with all the comforts and luxuries that money could buy. But I'm on my way to Global Championship Wrestling. I'm not coming for the money, because God knows that for what I'm worth, President Niemiller couldn't afford to pay me. No, I'm not coming for the money. I'm coming because I love the competition. At everything I've ever done in life, I've been the best. I was a tremendous collegiate football player, I've made a killing on the stock market. And now I'm looking to cement my place in history as the greatest wrestler of all-time. My destiny runs through Global Championship Wrestling. When all is said and done and the book closes and the legacy of John Bradshaw Layfield is complete, the people who come to the arenas will say, "Wow! I got to see JBL, the greatest of all-time!" When all is said and done and the masses are chanting, "J-B-L! J-B-L! J-B-L!" you will all realize how lucky you were.

[JBL stops and gives his big goofy grin.]

JBL: Remember, my name is John Bradshaw Layfield... and I'm better than you.

[A slow fade to black.]

Match #8
MAIN EVENT
"The Crippler" Chris Benoit/Booker T/Rey Mysterio Jr. (Television champion) vs. Kurt Angle (World Heavyweight champion)/Randy Orton/Steve "Who's Your Daddy?" Bradley
A highly charged main event for this edition of Explosion as three-fourths of the Sensationals, World Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, and Steve Bradley, took on their respective opponents for Retribution, Television champion Rey Mysterio Jr., Chris Benoit, and Booker T. Surprisingly, the six individuals in this match, despite their intense personalities, were able to keep their emotions under control and as a result, this turned into a fantastic wrestling match. The Sensationals had the experience edge as far as working together and familiarity went, but by the way Mysterio, Benoit, and Booker worked together, it was obvious that they had worked out a strategy for combating the Sensationals.

The Sensationals, through both hard work and dedication (and with Orton pulling the top rope down from the apron as Benoit hit the ropes), were able to single out the Rabid Wolverine. They were able to consistently raise the ire of Rey Mysterio Jr. and Booker T on the apron, causing them to come in the ring, taking referee Jimmy Appleseed's attention, which allowed the Sensationals to double and triple team Benoit. The former World Heavyweight champion kept fighting though, showing he still had plenty left in the tank as he would periodically fire back with chops, but he couldn't build any real momentum as the Sensationals would resort to an eye gouge or a hair pull to keep the advantage. Benoit desperately needed a window of opportunity to make a tag, and he found that when Randy Orton was tagged in. Orton climbed to the top and went for a jackknife flying crossbody, but Benoit countered with a dropkick. Orton was able to crawl over and tag in Kurt Angle, but Angle was unable to stop Benoit from making the tag to Rey Mysterio Jr.

Mysterio came into the ring with a springboard sitdown senton on the champion. Angle was quickly back to his feet, but Mysterio was rested and a ball of fire, and kept taking Angle down. Angle managed to slow the number-one contender down with a kneelift and locked Mysterio in a rear waistlock for a German suplex attempt, but Mysterio reversed it and hit a dropkick to Angle's back, sending him throat first onto the middle rope. The crowd came to its feet as Mysterio signaled for the 6-1-9, but when he went for it, Steve Bradley held a steel chair in front of Kurt Angle's face, causing Mysterio's legs to crash hard into the steel. Mysterio fell hard back into the ring, where an exhausted Angle put on the Ankle Lock. Mysterio couldn't fight off the pain and had no other choice but to tap out.

The Sensationals (Kurt Angle, Randy Orton and Steve Bradley) defeated Booker T, Chris Benoit and Rey Mysterio Jr. when K. Angle made Mysterio Jr. submit to the Ankle Lock in 0:14:42.
Rating: ****

Kurt Angle had finally gotten the better of Rey Mysterio Jr., but he needed Steve Bradley and a steel chair to do it. Mysterio is in Angle's head, and if Kurt Angle is resorting to things like this to beat Mysterio, you know he is extremely worried about losing his title at Retribution. Mysterio has shown he can beat Angle cleanly; Angle has not shown he can do the same to Mysterio.

As we went off the air, we can tell you there are currently 9 matches signed for Retribution on September 19th, live from Portland, Oregon's own Rose Garden. Here are the matches that are signed as of right now:

World Heavyweight Title Match - Kurt Angle (c) vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.

North American Title Match - Lance Storm (c) vs. Sean O'Haire

World Tag Team Title Match - The Basham Brothers (c) vs. Billy Kidman/Cruiserweight champion Paul London

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels vs. "Y2J" Chris Jericho

Number-One Contenders Match - The World's Greatest Tag Team vs. The Hardy Boyz

"The Alpha Male" Monty Brown vs. Brock Lesnar

Booker T vs. Steve "Who's Your Daddy?" Bradley

"Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.

The North American Title match may be in jeopardy as a result of Lance Storm's injury, and we are told that we will have an update on his condition next week on Explosion, as well as the already signed match between Paul London and Billy Kidman and the Revolution's Tommy Dreamer and Perry Saturn. We'll see you next week!
teddy1221Posted on 11/13/04 at 21:55:34

great show.  the ppv is shaping up nicely.  I was pulling for shark boy to take the win over that punk teddy.  the monty brown/brock lesnar matchup should be very interesting.  I would love to see storm defend his title, and retain it, that would be great, and a huge blow to O'Haire.
HugeRockStar760Posted on 11/13/04 at 21:56:03

Another great show.  I'm very pleased to see you bring in JBL.  It'll be fun to watch his character develop in the GCW considering your writing skills.

Snabbit888Posted on 11/13/04 at 23:04:48

Thanks for the feedback from both.

Yeah, the injury to Lance Storm is something I'm not happy about.  I had some big plans in store for him that will have to be nixed.  I'm still debating whether I want to make him work the injury at Retribution, but chances are he won't.

I'm excited about JBL as well.  I think he's a very compelling character, and I'm excited to see where I can take him.
91Posted on 11/13/04 at 23:47:51

Somehow the internet seems to be working back on itself and JBL has become popular. And you've caught the JBL bug too.

Oh dear. First Doug Williams, now Lance Storm. Bit of a bugger, isn't it? It'll be interesting to see how you settle this. Either O'Haire takes it in a two minute match at Retribution or it'll be vacated. Regardless - bugger.

Angle HAD to take the win there really. Three straight wins for Rey would have made Angle retaining the title the biggest formality this side of something incredibly formulaic.
Snabbit888Posted on 11/14/04 at 00:16:48

If it makes you feel better, I was on the JBL bandwagon from the get-go.  It probably doesn't, but just want to clarify that I'm not a recent convert.  I'm the one who wants him to retain until WrestleMania... he won't, but yeah.

And yes, Angle definitely needed to get a bit of heat back on Rey, which is why he did. *bows*

PANCAKE INTENSITY!
Murphy42782Posted on 11/14/04 at 11:18:01

You really get screwed with the injuries. Not only was Storm and Williams you also had RVD get hurt didnt you? Total bumber about Storm though. I am a big Storm supporter. I usually try to push Storm in my ciruits because he can carry a decent worker to a spectacular match.
Snabbit888Posted on 11/14/04 at 17:15:30

I've had a lot of injuries.

RVD out until July '05 with a neck injury (neck fusion surgery)
Storm out until April '05 with a torn rotator cuff
Doug Williams out until March '05 with a torn calf
Justin Credible out for another two weeks with a torn ligament in his right knee

Plus, Matt Hardy had missed 3 months from April-July with a torn biceps, Elix Skipper missed a couple weeks with a knee injury, and the recently released Shannon Moore was currently out for 3 months with a back injury (I'm an asshole :))
91Posted on 11/14/04 at 17:19:06

Oh yeah, I rememebr what I was going to ask you. What's your entire PPV calendar look like?
Snabbit888Posted on 11/14/04 at 17:41:30

January = Winter Warfare
February = Beat Your Valentine
March = TBA
April = Deadly Draw (Royal Rumble)
May = Mayhem
June = Super Cade (Wrestlemania)
July = Chaos Reigns
August = Summer Sizzler
September = Retribution
October = Trick or Trouble
November = Thanksgiving Thunder (Might change this one though as it's a tick too generic)
December = TBA (It's a King of the Ring tournament, but I don't know what to call it.  Tentatively it's just King of the Ring, but I dunno.  Any suggestions?)

the king of the ring style ppv could be called Last Man Standing

If he used Last Man Standing, that'd be TWO of my PPV names he's nicked. >:(

Oh yeah, because "Retribution" is such a terribly original name.  How dare I steal that gem?

:)

You even have Retribution the same month as I do.

Trying to think of clever names for the KOTR show, I'm falling short, unless you do like WCW and have it as a memorial tournament. You know, the Curly Bill memorial tournament, or something. Or since you'd have to be excellent to win the tourny, maybe the "Ryan Niemiller award for outstanding achievement in the field of excellence" night.

!!!!  That's not be stealing your idea... same PPV, same month... WE'RE SOULMATES! *hugs*

I'm kind of leaning toward the "Elite Eight Tournament" due to my love of the NCAA tournament.  But stroking my own ego does sound appealing...

How about the Night of Champions or something along those lines.

Winter Warfare and Summzer Sizzler are ppv's i usually run. In fact my first NEPW ppv was going to be Winter Warfare.  Beat your valentine, that's funny.
