Edge & Christian (Edge and Christian) and Devon Storm defeated
Pretty Perfect (Owen Hart and Curt Hennig) and Larry Zbyszko when Christian
pinned C. Hennig with the Unprettier in 0:13:26.
Rating: **** 1/4

Six man tag team action kicked off the show. Six men, all with strong records
and high hopes of title gold being around the corner. This time, Edge and
Christian got the duke for their team and deservedly so as they were the MVPs
out there. Larry though, credit to him for being as cunning as ever, coming
close to scoring another huge win, save for the Edge-Christian-Devon team
making a couple of saves when Larry had the cover. Pretty Perfect were NOT
happy with the outcome, claiming that they were the only perfect team in the
DWF and this sort of finish was beneath them. Well indeed...

Brad Armstrong pinned Masato Tanaka with the Peoples Elbow in 0:14:28.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Brad Armstrong retained the Intercontinental Title.)

Brad Armstrong, following his rather long winded and ultimately cul-de-sac
like speech last night, stepped into the ring to face Masato Tanaka. Tanaka
had a golden opportunity to leave intercontinental champion here after a huge
win last night against Benoit. He came close as well, scoring a few near falls,
but irritatingly, one Rock Bottom and a Peoples Elbow finished it. Brad then
took the chance to thank the millions and millions of his fans, including the
several thousand hick fans who showed up tonight. Way to make friends Brad.

La Resistance (Rene Dupree and Sylvain Grenier) defeated
Los Villanos (Villano IV and Villano V) when R. Dupree pinned Villano V
with the French Riviera in 0:05:01.
Rating: ** 3/4

La Resistance scored a second win today over Los Villanos. A fairly routine
win, marred only by their stopping to dance midway through, and also their
pre-match words, where they tried to play up America. Refering to claims that
one third of Americans are obese, they said this couldn't be true as looking
around the arena, by their calculations it was only one quarter. Yes, the fans
didn't react too kindly to that, despite La Resistance protests that they
were really defending them.

Steve Williams pinned Dynamite Kid with the Oklahoma Stampede in 0:05:11.
Rating: *** 3/4

Dynamite Kid has some scores to settle, not least with the Miracle Violence
Connection. As predicted, the MVC had come to Kidmans aid last night as part
of an out of court settlement with Kidman to avoid a potential lawsuit after
the altercation last week. Dynamite didn't care who it was who cost him the
title, he wanted revenge. He looked to be having it too, getting his way with
Steve Williams tonight until Terry Gordy ran out and hopped on the apron.
Dynamite sent him down with a quick punch, but Williams was up as well, and
used the opening to drill Dynamite with the Oklahoma Stampede for the upset
win. Quite the turn around there.

Handicap-Match:
Don Muraco defeated Kid Kash, La Parka Jr. and Chavo Guerrero Jr. when Muraco
pinned Kid Kash with the Tombstone in 0:05:23.
Rating: ***

Don Muraco continues to get himself in hot water with the suits of the DWF.
Having recently demolished Chavo Guerrero, La Parka and Kid Kash, the three of
them set about getting revenge in one go in a three-on-one handicap match.
Chavo started and got tossed halfway across the ring. La Parka was next and
he got in a few shots, but stopped to waggle his knees and got used as a
punching bag for his troubles. Kid Kash was tagged in next and he was game,
but no way could he compete and Muraco made the pin on him after an easy
Tombstone to get the duke. Muraco didn't stop there though, dragging his other
two opponents back in for matching Tombstones as well. Word is, officials are
NOT pleased at this little incident. What we can say for certain is that Don
Muraco is on a roll and will clearly stop at nothing until he has his shot
at the gold.

Dean Malenko made Bobby Eaton submit to the Texas Cloverleaf in 0:10:05.
Rating: ****

Following their confrontation a little while ago, Dean Malenko took on Bobby
Eaton tonight, both men hoping to gain a little vengeance on the other. This
time, Malenkos rope pulling and whatnot helped him out, slippery as he is, and
got the duke over Eaton, before stretching him about a little more after the
bell. Impressive as he was, was there really a point he was proving afterwards
there?

The Syndicate (Lance Storm and Ken Shamrock) defeated
Los Guerreros (Chavo Classic and Eddie Guerrero) when Shamrock pinned
E. Guerrero after a crucifix in 0:10:46.
Rating: *** 1/2
(The Syndicate retained the Intercontinental Tag Team Titles.)

Los Guerreros have started the war with Low Ki, with designs on one of them
getting their hands on Low Kis cruiserweight belt. Tonight though, Eddie and
Chavo found themselves with a chance to be intercontinental tag team champions
out of the blue. Lance Storm, clearly disappointed at coming so close at being
King of the Ring last night. Ken Shamrock, as deadly as ever. Los Guerreros
weren't a match for The Syndicate tonight and the match was wrapped up in due
course. Still, Eddie made it known to his crew backstage that the main target
is Low Ki and his belt.

Rhyno pinned Test with the Gore in 0:01:50.
Rating: **

Rhyno was in action today, and he made short work of Test, bullying him
around in the corner and hitting a few big clotheslines before finishing with
the Gore, all in a couple of minutes. Quite the win there for the Manbeast,
the sort that can get the wheels really rolling.

Billy Kidman defeated Brian Pillman by disqualification in 0:11:10.
Rating: *** 1/2

Billy Kidman has, perhaps, got his hands full in more ways than one right now
with issues concerning him that he really hadn't banked on. Last nights
victory over Dynamite Kid was supposed to be the start of an era for Kidman,
but as he lines up, it would seem, to face John Cena at Ultimate Annihlation,
the pressure is already beginning to mount. Kidman was fuming at the incident
last night with Brian Pillman and Steve Corino. Kidman revealed the extent of
the injury Corino received, apparently there is a small fracture in Corinos
arm, and Kidman ascertained that the television champ would have to take time
off. Cue Matt Hardy who wasn't about to stand idly by while his champions take
time off, despite the injury. Hardy reminded Kidman that all titles had to be
defended every thirty days, else the champ be stripped of his title. Kidman
responded by noting that his lawyer, Clarence Mason, has drafted several
lawsuits over the incident - one to Brian Pillman for "physical defamation" of
the highest order, another to the DWF for the unsafe working conditions that
Corino was forced to perform under, a third to the official for that match for
failing to prevent a breach in the rules and human decency, and finally one
more for Matt Hardy himself should he fail to waive the thirty day rule under
the circumstances. Hardy was left seething, but quickly came up with an
alternate plan, forcing Kidman into a match tonight against Brian Pillman.
Kidman quickly noted that contractually, he was not obliged to defend the belt
without notice and refused to put the title up for grabs against a "certified
lunatic". There may be something to this...

So Pillman and Kidman prepared to get it on. However just before the match,
John Cena emerged to greet Billy Kidman, wishing him luck and to say that if
Corino was out of commission, then he would watch Kidmans back and make sure
that he made it to Ultimate Annihlation safely. Kidman appreciated the
sentiment to a degree, knowing that it partly contained personal gain for
Cena. Not the usual evilness from Cena either, the title shot must be making
him giddy. The match itself was an even affair, Pillman controlling his ever
misfiring emotions while Kidman was looking consumate as champion. In fact it
was Kidman who came close to winning, putting Pillman down and scoring the
Shooting Star Press, fair and square. Pillman however got his foot on the
ropes, angering Kidman who protested vehemontly to the ref. Pillman used the
distraction to grab a chair and blast Kidman for about a blatant DQ as one
could imagine. A second shot to the back of the fallen worlds champion
followed and a Pillmaniser for the second night running looked on the cards
until John Cena rushed out and shielded Kidman. Pillman didn't back down and
threatened to blast Cena around the head. Officials weren't doing much to
help, but Sean O'Haire could. Running out, he calmed down his tag team partner
and persuaded him to put the chair down. Ever a master of the mind games
himself, O'Haire evidently knew when the time and place for such acts of
violence belong. Psychoanalysis were hurried to the back by officials while
Cena helped up Kidman in the ring, and handed him his belt, indicating with a
smile that he would be after the gold soon. Kidman was just happy to have been
saved from a potential mauling and nodded as such to Cena. Two of the less
popular entities in the DWF apparently making friends, for now.

Match observations:

One man not happy that Dynamite Kid isn't champion is Matt Hardy, having
hoped that Jody Fleisch would have been forced to go into the World Cup
tournament without a tag partner. Oh well, plan B - Fleisch and Dynamite don't
like each other to begin with. No doubt Hardy will be rubbing his hands at
the possibilities there. Flanked by The Young Lions, Matt Hardy had another
decision to make today - the two men who would be chosen to represent Team
USA. A prestigious chance if ever there was one, Hardy called out the shortlist
of six - Sean O'Haire, Bobby Eaton, Curt Hennig, Rob Van Dam, Devon Storm and
Kurt Angle. Before Hardy could announce his men, Kurt Angle stopped
proceedings to remind Hardy that he would be cheering on Team U.S.A. regardless
of the men picked, but added that a true patriot such as himself was most
deserving of being team captain (there are no team captains, but Angle will
believe what Angle will believe). Imagine his horror when Hardy revealed that
the representatives for Team U.S.A. would be Sean O'Haire and Rob Van Dam.
Angle freaked and tipped over the timekeepers table as a "show of protest".
Confronting Van Dam backstage later caused Angle to be infuriated even more
when RVD told him he wasn't even on the shortlist to begin with, he just saw
a bunch of guys heading out to the ring and figured it would "be a laugh" if
he followed them. Angle stomped and pouted as much as a grown man can. I'm
guessing he's not happy.

We also got word of the draw for the tournament. Team Mexico will take on
Team Japan (which will apparently be Hayabusa & Tajiri). Team England (Fleisch
and Dynamite) take on Team Germany (Alex Wright and an unnamed partner). Team
Canada (Benoit and Owen Hart) face Team France (La Resistance) and finally
team USA (O'Haire and RVD) take on Team Russia (making a one night only
appearance - THE BOLSHEVIKS!). Only Team Mexico and one half of Team Germany
left to be confirmed then...

Finally we heard from Paul Roma again when we had a minute to kill. Wanting to
settle this cloud hanging over his head, he challenged Scott Putski to a match
next week where the winner will be the first person to BURY ALIVE his opponent.
Roma makes a thoroughly useless challenge, but the intrigue is there as to
whether Putski can actually kill Roma once and for all. Fingers crossed...

Hrm... sad to see Pretty Perfect seemingly moving down the card.  An impressive win by Edge, Christian, and Storm though

Brad Armstrong continues to win, defeating a game Tanaka.  I really like the character you've established for Armstrong... he's so damn weird.

Also, I'm really curious as to when Muraco is going to get his title shot... Hardy's going to have to crack eventually.

And Pillman continues to lose his mind, which doesn't bode well for Kidman, Corino or anyone else.  Now when is Pillman going to snap on O'Haire?  Hrm... and Kidman/Cena temp alliance is intriguing.

Well done, comrade!
