NEPW Meltdown 11/18/04

teddy1221Posted on 11/13/04 at 23:26:15

I am trying to put effort into these, but this virus is just kicking my butt, but here goes anyways.

The show opens with Ric Flair entering the building, and searching for Triple H. He finds Hunter and Batista talking strategy.

Flair:  H, I gotta admit, I am a bit concerned about tonight.  I have faced reality, that I am not the same man I used to be, and Samoa Joe is a big, brutal guy.  You are the real deal...you are "The Game," and I would love to help you out, but I don't know about this match.

Hunter:  Natch, don't worry about a thing.  Me and Batista were talking, and I think I have a new recruit for us. One who has been out on the west coast, and been in the ring with Joe several times.  Just let me go find him, and you relax, and enjoy.

John Walters pinned Austin Aries with the Hurricane DDT in 0:11:49.
Rating: ** 1/2

Good technical bout to open things up, between 2 great young stars.  But Walters win was quickly ruined, when Generation Next of Alex Shelley, Jack Evans, and Roderick Strong came out, and beat down Walters. Strong delivered his CX '03, while Evans landed his 630 senton.  Alex Shelley grabs a mic, as many boo's resonate from the crowd.

Shelley:  You may not know who we are yet, but get to know us, because we are the future of the NEPW, and the future of this business.  Paul Heyman wanted to bring us in, and slowly build us into stars.  Well, I say f**k that.  We are going to make ourselves into stars by any means necessary. Walters was the first to find out, and while we plan on taking everyone's spots on the card, we are coming after the top dogs, whether that means Chris Benoit, Randy Orton, Triple H, or even Ric Flair.  But rest assured, we will be the most dominate force in wrestling!!

Shelley drops the mic, as the 4 men pose, as the crowd throws things at the young group.

American Dragon and Homicide battled to a double countout in 0:18:09.
Rating: *** 1/4

An absolute brutal matchup here, as both men are hard hitters, and neither would give an inch to the other, which resulted in this double countout.  The two men, not noticing the bell, continued to battle,  until Homicide's buddy, Low Ki, tried to break it up, and got a an inadvertent stiff shot from Dragon, which resulted in Ki taking a shot with a stiff kick at Dragon, which Dragon blocked.  Officials had to come out, to keep things from getting out of hand.

Backstage, We catch up with John Walters in his locker room.

Walters:  Generation Next, you guys are talented players, but if you think you are going to make a name for yourself at my expense, you got another thing coming. I don't care whether its one on one, or four on one, but rest assured, I am going to get revenge for tonight.

La Resistance (Sylvan Grenier and Rob Conway) defeated
The Briscoe Bros. (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) when Conway defeated M. Briscoe
by disqualification in 0:12:17.
Rating: * 3/4

The young Briscoe's are trying to establish themselves, as a possible top tier team, by beating the likes of La Resistance.  Though they looked good, their frustration led to them getting DQ'ed.

Sabu pinned Rob Van Dam after a ropeflip moonsault in 0:06:32.
Rating: ** 3/4

Not quite as good as some of the matches these two have put on, but impressive nonetheless.

CM Punk pinned Eddie Guerrero with the Pepsi Plunge in 0:12:18.
Rating: *** 1/4

Great match!  Punk showed that he can hang with someone the caliber of Eddie Guerrero, and pulled off a huge win.  After the match, the cocky punk, got on the mic.

Punk:  Guerrero, I showed tonight I am better than you....and I will always be better than you, because I have kept my body clean of poisons. But I guess you can't help it...it's mexican tradition....

That really angered Eddie, and he went after Punk, but was stopped by Ace Steel and Colt Cabana.  The 3 men took turns stomping away at Eddie.  They set him up for another Pepsi Plunge, but The SAT's made the save.

Backstage, Gary Michael Cappetta is with Samoa Joe.

GMC: Joe, earlier tonight, Triple H said he has another recruit into Evolution , who can beat you?

Joe:  You know, Ric Flair, I have the great respect for you, and I wasn't looking to hurt you, I just wanted to beat you.  The only person I want to hurt is Triple H, and nothing will stop me from doing that.  So hunter, bring on whoever you got....

The Havanna Pitbulls (Rocky Romero and Ricky Reyes) defeated
America's Most Wanted (James Storm and Chris Harris) when R. Reyes pinned
C. Harris after the Cuban Missle Crisis in 0:16:07.
Rating: ***
(The Havanna Pitbulls won the NEPW World Tag Team Titles.)

This was a rematch for Breaking The Barriers, where AMW beat The Pitbulls in a semi final tournament match.  The Pitbulls then came back out later in the show, after AMW won the titles, and attacked the new champs, so this match came about.  Both teams put in a great performance, but The Pitbulls were as stiff as ever, and came away with the tag straps, ending AMW's reign prematurely.

Samoa Joe is in the ring waiting on his next opponent, when out comes Evolution.

Triple H:  Joe, when I came into the building, I had someone in mind not only to join Evolution, but someone who can beat you.  Someone you know well, so welcome the newest member of Evolution.....CHRISTOPHER DANIELS!!

Christopher Daniels pinned Samoa Joe with the Last Rites in 0:09:40.
Rating: ****

The addition of Chris Daniels into Evolution came as somewhat of a surprise, considering Daniels is more of a leader than a follower.  Of course, Daniels is a thinker, so he may have something else up his sleeve.  The two men have met many times, in many places, and always manage to deliver a top notch match, and tonight was no different, as they stole the show. We saw a flurry of action at the end of the match, which saw Daniels miss a moonsault, and look like Joe might get the win with the Island Driver, but Daniels escaped, and surprised Joe with the Last Rites for a big win.

While Evolution celebrated, Samoa Joe grabbed a mic.

Joe:  Triple H, you may think you have pulled one over on me, but this is far from over.  You can't duck me forever.  And Daniels, since when are you a follower?

We cut to highlights of last week's confrontation between World Champion, Randy Orton, and Edge.

Chris Benoit defeated Randy Orton by disqualification in 0:06:24.
Rating: * 3/4
[Edge interfered against Randy Orton.]
[Edge interfered against Chris Benoit.]

This match could have been good, but never really got going, because Edge came out, and jumped Randy Orton.  This angered Benoit, who had a few choice words for Edge, so Edge decided to whack Benoit with a chair, ending the match.  The ref gave the match to Benoit by DQ, which angered the champ, who began exchanging verbal jabs with Edge.

Main Event
No-Time-Limit-No-Countout-No-DQ-Four Corners Match for the vacant NEPW Cruiserweight Title:
Paul London defeated Spanky, Amazing Red and Rey Mysterio when London pinned
Mysterio with the London Calling in 0:19:06.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Paul London won the NEPW Cruiserweight Title.)

This was a rematch from this past monday's match, which ended in a time limit draw.  Saw Heyman gave the guys the main event, and no time limit, to determine a champion, and with 4 cruiserweights of this caliber, the match was off the charts. While Mysterio was the favorite to win, Paul London outshined them all, en route to winning the title.  The 3 men congratulated Paul, though Spanky looked a little reluctant.

Card rating: ***

Christopher Daniels eh? Yeah, I could see where he might fit in to Evolution, particularly as the second guy... for now at least.
