NEPW Breaking The Barriers

teddy1221Posted on 11/09/04 at 17:26:51

Here is my first show from the NEPW.  The write up is not spectacular, but it will take a bit of time to get angles, and characters fleshed out the way I want them.

Fireworks explode around the stage, down the ramp, and around the ringside area, as "Step Up" by Drowning Pool blasts throughtout the arena.

JR: WELCOME TO MADISON SQUARE GARDEN.....WELCOME TO NEPW!!  I am Jim Ross alongside Jerry "The King" Lawler, tonight we promise
to deliver the most exciting pro wrestling you will ever see!!

JL: JR, I couldn't be more excited, as we have some of the best talent in the world right here in one place.

JR: Fans, it looks like the NEPW owner is ready to head to the ring.

Just then, NEPW owner, Paul Heyman steps through the curtains, to a nice roar from the crowd.

PH: THAT'S RIGHT FANS....PAUL E IS BACK!!!  If you thought ECW was revolutionary...the NEPW is filled with the absolute best in the world!!  And we promise to deliver nothing but the absolute best wrestling action around, and it starts tonight, with Breaking The Barriers!!  We have some the top veterans in the business, and
some of the best young talent in the business, and the NEPW and Breaking The Barriers is there chance to shine, and show the world what they can do.  Tonight 3 men will get to the chance to show that they are the absolute best of the best! Tonight 4 teams will battle in a tournament, with one team coming out as the first NEPW World
Tag Team Champions!! And one man will leave here tonight as the torch bearer for NEPW...they will leave the NEPW World Heavyweight Champion!!! Let's get to the ring.

No-Time-Limit-Four Corners Match:
Super Dragon defeated Amazing Red, Austin Aries and Alex Shelley:
x S. Dragon beat Aries via his special move in 0:34:14
x S. Dragon beat A. Shelley via the Psycho Driver 2001 in 0:36:54
x S. Dragon beat Red via the Psycho Driver 2001 in 0:45:08
Rating: ***

After an awesome and emotion filled opening from Paul Heyman, the opening bout was absolutely insane. 4 young stars opened things up, laying it all on the line
in a 4 corner elimination match, and west coast star, Super Dragon, proved to be the dominant player in this one, the 3 other men, to take a huge win.

No-Time-Limit-Match:
Nick Dinsmore pinned John Walters with the German Suplex in 0:12:13.
Rating: ** 3/4

The former Eugene, Nick Dinsmore, showed what he is really capable of, as the two men put on a great techincal matchup.  John Walters has a bright future ahead of him,
and is very much similar to Chris Benoit, which is a very good thing.

No-Time-Limit-Triangle Match:
Low-Ki defeated Christopher Daniels and American Dragon when Low-Ki pinned
AmDrag with the Ki Crusher in 0:15:48.
Rating: * 3/4

Somewhat disappointing for the caliber of men in this match, but still entertaining nonetheless. Dragon and Low Ki, who have feuded and teamed together, showed their
respect for each other by shaking hands after the match, though Dragon said he wants another match.  A bitter Daniels, just flipped the two men off, and said he is still
better than them.

No-Time-Limit-Match:
America's Most Wanted (James Storm and Chris Harris) defeated
The Havanna Pitbulls (Rocky Romero and Ricky Reyes) when J. Storm pinned
R. Romero with the 8 Second Ride in 0:11:22.
Rating: ***

The Pitbulls showed how brutal they can be, but AMW came away with the hard fought win, to find themselves in the Tag Team Title match later in the night.

No-Time-Limit-Match:
CM Punk pinned Homicide with the Pepsi Plunge in 0:13:47.
Rating: ***

Another excellent match here.  Punk came out before hand, and did his typical, "I am better than you," speech directed at Homicide, and his "thug" ways. The Notorious 187 showed that he is not just a thug, but he can wrestle too, but Punk was able to steal the win over the "Strong Style Thug," with his awesome Pepsi Plunge.

No-Time-Limit-Match:
Spanky pinned Paul London with the Sliced Bread #2 in 0:06:49.
Rating: *** 1/2

The matches just keep getting better and better, as the two former Shawn Michael's trainees went at it, in a short, but very good match.  Both men know each other very
well, and it showed.  London looked like he might get the win with his beautiful London Calling, but Spanky moved out of the way, and hit his Sliced Bread #2 for the win.

No-Time-Limit-Match:
The Briscoe Bros. (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) defeated
The Dudley Boys (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) when M. Briscoe defeated
Bubba by disqualification in 0:08:31.
Rating: * 1/2

Many call the Briscoe Bros. the best young tag team today, and they showed how talented they are, by beating the Dudley's, albeit, by DQ. But now the Briscoe's have a shot to become the first NEPW World Tag Team Champions, as they take on America's Most Wanted later tonight.

Backstage, Gary Michael Cappetta is with Samoa Joe.

GMC: Folks, we are standing next to one of the most dominating big men on the indy scene today, a man who will be battling for a shot at the World Title later tonight, we are standing here with Samoa Joe.  Joe, we have a collection of some of the best talent in the world here, including international star, Jushin "Thunder" Lyger!

Joe:  That's right Gary...we do. BUT, are any of them as big as me...as dominant as me...as hard hitting as me...?  I don't think so.  You see Gary, I am Pro Wrestling...that ring, is my ring, and the NEPW World Heavyweight Title will be mine....

Just then, Triple H, Batista, and Ric Flair walk in.

Triple H:  Whoa, whoa, who do you think you are to say you are "Pro Wrestling."  While you were toiling away in the indy's, I was winning World Title after World title.  I am the best there is today, and that belt is mine...that ring...is MINE!!

Joe:  You see, Triple H, you WERE the best....you were the best ENTERTAINER!!  The NEPW is pro wrestling at its finest, and I am Pro Wrestling, and your time is over!!

An angered Triple H, slaps Joe across the face!!  Joe just smiles, as Flair and Batista pull Triple H away.

Joe: I hope you bring more than that.

Back to the ring area, Xavier is on the mic.

Xavier:  As you can all see, AJ Styles was to afraid to show up tonight, and go one on one with Xavier, because he knows what everyone else knows...I am the All Around Best!  I came here for a match, so someone come out here, so I can kick their ass!

At that, out comes Super Dragon!!

No-Time-Limit-Match:
Super Dragon pinned Xavier with the Psycho Driver 2001 in 0:05:03.
Rating: ****

This match was supposed to be AJ Styles versus Xavier, but do to a family emergency, he couldn't make it, so instead, Super Dragon surprised us all, and came out to pull double duty. And in one night, he shot himself up way up the card, by pinning 4 men in one night.  The match was the show stealer for sure.  After the match, an embarrassed Xavier, nailed Dragon from behind with a stiff forearm, and laid him out with an X-Breaker, and spit on him.

10-Man Battle Royal:
Edge won a 10-man Battle Royal:
x Jericho threw out S. Benjamin in 0:03:54
x Jericho threw out Booker in 0:06:39
x Jericho threw out E. Guerrero in 0:07:05
x Batista threw out Benoit in 0:10:45
x Jericho threw out C. Haas in 0:13:53
x Jericho threw out Lynn in 0:15:12
x Edge threw out Christian in 0:21:09
x Batista threw out Jericho after a front facelock in 0:27:29
x Edge threw out Batista after an inverted atomic drop in 0:38:49
Rating: *** 1/4
[Ric Flair interfered against Edge.]
[Miss Jackie and Ric Flair interfered against Chris Jericho.]

The young and cocky, Edge, now has a chance to win his first World Title later in the main event, despite interference from Ric Flair, trying to help Evolution buddy, Batista, take the win.

10-Man Battle Royal:
Randy Orton won a 10-man Battle Royal:
x RVD threw out J. Cena after a fist to the midsection in 0:03:03
x Mysterio threw out RVD after a duck-down move in 0:10:39
x Triple H threw out Joe in 0:14:45
x Sabu threw out Lyger after an elbowsmash in 0:22:16
x Sabu threw out K. Angle in 0:25:53
x Mysterio threw out Sabu in 0:25:58
x Triple H threw out Show after a stomp in 0:30:07
        x R. Orton threw out Triple H in 0:30:56
x R. Orton threw out Mysterio after a kneelift in 0:33:00
Rating: *** 1/4

The exchanges between Samoa Joe and Triple H were explosive, as both men tried to outdo the other, Triple H used his smarts, and cheating ways, to eliminate Joe, but Joe would get his revenge, helping Randy Orton eliminate Triple H.  But thanks to that, Samoa Joe had to contend with Evolution on the outside, meanwhile, Randy Orton eliminated Rey Mysterio to win the match.

No-Time-Limit-No-Countout-No-DQ-Match for the vacant NEPW World Tag Team Titles:
America's Most Wanted (James Storm and Chris Harris) defeated
The Briscoe Bros. (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) when C. Harris pinned
M. Briscoe with the Catatonic in 0:04:00.
Rating: **
(America's Most Wanted won the NEPW World Tag Team Titles.)

AMW's celebration was cut short, as the Havanna Pitbulls came flying down, and brutally attacked the Tag Team Champs, with some strong style kicks and punches.  With the new champs down on the math, the Pitbulls posed on the turnbuckles with the title belts.

Main Event
No-Time-Limit-No-Countout-No-DQ-Match for the vacant NEPW World Heavyweight Title:
Randy Orton pinned Edge with the R.K.O. in 0:06:48.
Rating: * 3/4
(Randy Orton won the NEPW World Heavyweight Title.)

It definitely wasn't the  most epic World Title match, but was an emotional win for the third generation star, as he is now the torch bearer for the new NEPW.  He collapsed to his knees after the match, tears streaming down his face, as he hugged, and kissed the World Title, while Edge looked on in disgust.

Card rating: ** 1/2

Nice card. Your tag team division looks particularly strong. The Dudleys, Pitbulls, and AMW are all extremely talented teams, but I dont see the Briscoes walking away with gold at any point in the near future.

Edge vs. Orton could be a spectacular feud but this title match was not a very good one.

Samoa Joe vs. Evolution is a solid feud to build on, but who will help Joe out as he cannot contend with all 3 members of Evolution.

I like Nick Dinsmore alot. John Walters is also a fine pick up. You have a lot of guys with good workrates you should look into picking up wrestlers that are not so gifted.

Very strong card for a first effort.  You've already gotten some storylines going, and your roster seems to be an itneresting mix of the indies and WWE.  I like seeing Samoa Joe as a top tier player, because really he is that good and I think he has a bright future in the business.  Then again, one might think the same thing about Rhyno...

The fact that your Heavyweight division is mostly WWE guys bothered me slightly at first, but thinking about it, if you intend to have a strong cruiserweight division, most indy guys fit that role better than the Heavyweight stuff.

I think the Briscoe Brothers are vastly underrated as far as their TNM exports are concerned.  I'd personally probably bump their workrates up by 5 or so apiece, and actually give Mark at least a 70-75 charisma.  Because as is, it's nearly impossible for them to have matches as good as some of the ones they've been involved in.
