* * * * *

[Before we get to the opening video package for Monday Night Explosion, we see World Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle standing backstage with Television champion Steve "Who's our Daddy?" Bradley. Both members of the Sensationals have their respective title belts over their shoulders. Bradley is also holding his baseball bat Mofo.]

KA: Listen, Steve. I don't care what you have to do tonight, but I want you to take care of Rey Mysterio Jr. He's cheated to beat me not once, but twice, and I'm not going to put up with that. We need to teach him a lesson like only the Sensationals can.

SB: Don't you worry, Kurt. After I get done with him, Mysterio won't be bothering you anymore. I'm going to eliminate him... by ANY... MEANS... [Slams Mofo into his open hand] NECESSARY.

KA: That's what I like to hear. Go get him, Steve.

[Steve Bradley leaves, headed for the ring.]

KA: Your luck's about to run out, Mysterio.

[Angle laughs.]

KA: Oh it's true... it's DAMN true!

[Cut away to the opening of Explosion.]

Global Championship Wrestling has made its way to the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California for this week's edition of Monday Night Explosion! A jam-packed card tonight as we make our way to Portland, Oregon and Retribution! Billy Kidman and the Cruiserweight champion Paul London will meet the Italian Stallions in the finals of the tag team tournament, the winning team earning a shot at the World Tag Team Titles at Retribution! Also on tap, Steve Bradley will defend the Television Title against Rey Mysterio Jr.! And in a special attraction, two names from the GCW roster will be drawn at random, the winners being forced to wrestle against one another in a GCW first, the Wild Card Match! And the big one, in our main event, 20 superstars will be in the same ring for an over-the-top-rope battle royal, all in hopes of becoming the top contender for the North American Title! A lot to get to this week, so let's not waste any more time as the Television Title was on the line!

Match #1
Television Title Match
Steve "Who's Your Daddy?" Bradley (c) vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.
Steve Bradley was given specific instructions by World Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle to "take Mysterio out," which didn't bode well for the challenger tonight. Steve Bradley is a sick, twisted, and dangerous man and Mysterio knew that he had to keep moving if he wanted to win the Television Title. Mysterio was able to evade Bradley early on, but Bradley kept on it and was able to catch Mysterio and drop him with a huge shoulderbreaker.

From there, Bradley showed his vicious side as he just hammered on his smaller opponent. Nothing at all fancy about Bradley's offense tonight; clubbing forearms, closed fists, and chokes with the intent to harm were on Bradley's mind. Bradley began to toy with Mysterio for a bit before placing him on the top rope for what appeared to be a super gutbuster. Bradley had underestimated how hurt Mysterio was though, because as Bradley jumped off the turnbuckle, Mysterio reversed the move into a top-rope Frankensteiner. Bradley's head hit the canvas hard, stunning him long enough for Mysterio to hold his shoulders down for the three count. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a brand-new Television champion!

Rey Mysterio Jr. pinned Steve Bradley after a top-rope Frankensteiner in 0:04:41.
Rating: ***
(Rey Mysterio Jr. won the GCW Television Title.)

Referee Petey Pluck presented Mysterio with the Television Title as the packed Arrowhead Pond roared with approval. Mysterio got on the turnbuckles and held his newly won championship high in the air. As he did so, he failed to see KURT ANGLE run to the ring and nail Mysterio with a forearm in the back. Angle quickly followed with an Angle Slam off the turnbuckles! Mysterio was laid out as Angle and Bradley began to stomp the new champion. Angle got the Ankle Lock on Mysterio, but it was quickly broken up as CHRIS BENOIT was in the ring, firing away at Angle and Bradley with chops. Bradley took a big swing at the Crippler, but Benoit ducked and hit a huge German suplex. Angle hit Benoit with a forearm to the back and put on a rear waistlock for a German suplex, but Benoit reversed it and nailed Angle with a German suplex! Benoit gave the crowd the cut throat motion, signaling for the swandive headbutt, but before he could get to the turnbuckle, RANDY ORTON was in the ring and blasted him in the back with a steel chair! Randy Orton put a foot on top of Benoit as he did his patented pose as the fans ripped him apart with boos. What an explosive way to start Monday Night Explosion!

Match #1
Wild Card Match
??? vs. ???
There was a lot of buzz surrounding this match, as due to the rules of the Wild Card Match, this could have been anybody in this match. If a champion was chosen, his title would be on the line no matter the opponent. Needless to say, anything could happen here. The first man introduced for this match was third generation superstar Teddy Hart, who has been on a bit of a losing streak in recent weeks. This could be his opportunity to get things turned around (after losing to Shark Boy, things can only go up, really). The crowd sat in anticipation waiting for the second man to be introduced, but they were greeted by the new trio that dub themselves the Revolution: Tommy Dreamer, Perry Saturn, and the Amazing Red. We didn't know who the opponent was going to be until Saturn slid in the ring and jumped Teddy Hart from behind while he was jawing with Red.

The match itself didn't last long. Hart was able to recover from the initial flurry from Saturn, getting his foot up as Saturn charged into the corner. Hart hit a springboard dropkick on Saturn which prompted Red to jump up on the apron. As referee Antonio Santangelo attempted to get Red back on the ring floor, Tommy Dreamer snuck into the ring and planted Hart with the Dreamer DDT. Teddy Hart was completely out of it as Red then conveniently got off the apron. Perry Saturn climbed to the top and hit a beautiful flying bodypress on Hart for good measure and picked up a victory.

Perry Saturn pinned Teddy Hart after a flying bodypress in 0:02:16.
Rating: ***

It might not have been the most noble of victories, but the Revolution have shown that they'll stop at nothing to pick up a victory. With the cut throat nature of GCW these days, that might not be a bad idea. This is not the last we will see of the Revolution as all three of them will be in the North American Title battle royal.

[We are in the locker room of the Sensationals. Randy Orton, Steve Bradley, and Chris Jericho are all talking and yelling at each other at a frantic rate. The door slams off camera and everyone becomes quiet as GCW World Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle is now in the room. Needless to say, he doesn't look happy.]

KA: What the hell is going on here!?

[They try to answer, but Angle cuts them off.]

KA: No! Everybody shut the hell up! The Sensationals are becoming a laughing stock! What happened tonight, Steve? I thought we had an agreement. You were supposed to take Rey Mysterio out! And what did you do? You lost the Television Title to him!

SB: But we left him and Benoit...

KA: I don't want to hear it! Here's the deal. I just got done talking to our [Angle makes the air quotes.] "esteemed" President Niemiller and here's how it's going to be. Niemiller has informed me that the little cheater Rey Mysterio Jr., for some reason unbeknownst to me, is being granted a World Heavyweight Title shot. He weighs like 80 pounds! It's ridiculous! But either way, I am going to kick Mysterio's ass. Randy, at Retribution, you're going to be going one-on-one with Chris Benoit. Jericho, it's going to be you and Shawn Michaels at Retribution. Each and every one of you had better come out victorious at Retribution, or God help me there's going to be a lot of problems that I will deal with... PERSONALLY.

SB: But Kurt, what about me?

KA: What about you, Steve?

SB: I don't have an opponent for Retribution.

KA: Well you had better find one quickly then. I am not going to sit back and let you three make a mockery of the Sensationals! I'm the World Heavyweight champion. I've worked way too hard for you guys to mess it up now! Just make it happen!

[Kurt Angle leaves the locker room in a rage. Orton, Jericho, and Bradley are all left looking at each other.]

CJ: What's up his ass?

[Kurt Angle is heard from off camera.]

KA: I heard that!

[Jericho quickly stifles himself. All three men look less than thrilled that they were so thoroughly talked down to. Cut backstage to the locker room of Billy Kidman and Paul London.]

* * * * *

* * * * *

[Cruiserweight champion Paul London walks into the locker room where Billy Kidman can be seen finishing the lacing of his boots.]

PL: C'mon, Billy. We're up!

[Kidman finishes tying his boot but he doesn't move from the bench he was sitting on.]

PL: Yo, Billy. What's going on? We gotta go!

BK: I don't know, Paul. I'm not so sure about this match. The Stallions are tough.

PL: Yeah, and so are we. What's your point? [Laughs a bit] C'mon, buddy. We got this.

BK: I know... but last week's win just feels like a fluke. I mean, I completely choked last week. I hesitated going for the Shooting Star and it almost cost us the match.

PL: You're right... it did almost cost us the match. But then you recovered and you got the win for us.

BK: Yeah, with a lucky small package! Not exactly the most dominating victory.

PL: Look. We can sit back here and be scared about this match. You're right; Jindrak and Palumbo are big. We aren't. But most guys we're going to face are bigger than us. So why don't you get up off your ass so we can go out there and become the number-one contenders for the tag titles!?

[After a pause, Kidman speaks with a bit of restrained enthusiasm.]

BK: All right...

PL: Let's do this!

[London leaves toward the ring a ball of fire. Kidman stops, takes one deep breath, then tentatively leaves the locker room. Cut to the ring.]

Match #3
Number-One Contenders Tournament - Finals
Paul London (Cruiserweight champion)/Billy Kidman vs. The Italian Stallions
Billy Kidman came into this match feeling pretty down on himself. Although he scored the decisive pinfall last week in the semi-finals, he still feels as though it were a fluke. Well if Kidman had any questions about his worth to the team, he can put them to rest. Billy Kidman was absolutely on fire during this match. For as tentative as he seemed in the pre-match interview, Kidman put that aside and came out aggressively and was very crisp. Kidman and London worked beautifully as a team tonight, bobbing and weaving to stay away from their much larger opponents in Mark Jindrak and Chuck Palumbo. When the Italian Stallions were on the offensive, they're moves were hard-hitting and painful, but Kidman and London were right on the money tonight. After Kidman hit the BK Bomb on Plaumbo, London ran in the ring and dropkicked Jindrak off the apron. Kidman and London then proceeded to climb the turnbuckle and hit Palumbo with two successive Shooting Star Presses - first from London, and then from Kidman. Paul London and Billy Kidman are going on to Retribution.

Billy Kidman and Paul London defeated The Italian Stallions (Chuck Palumbo and Mark Jindrak) when Kidman pinned C. Palumbo after the the Double Shooting Star Press in 0:07:16.
Rating: ** 3/4

Kidman and London are certainly at their peak right now. If they continue to tag team wrestle like this, the Basham Brothers' days as World Tag Team champions could very well be numbered. They will have their shot at the gold on September 19th.

Match #4
Booker T vs. Abyss (w/ Shaniqua)
Booker T had a huge mountain to climb as he attempted to derail the thus far unstoppable train that is Abyss. Shaniqua's face was filled ear-to-ear with a sinister smile for this entire match, and with due cause: Abyss is a scary, scary individual. Booker T is obviously no slouch, being one of the top wrestlers in Global Championship Wrestling, but he couldn't seem to get much going against Abyss. Booker T brought the fight to Abyss, but his offense was only minimally effective. Abyss was in the process of dismantling Booker T when Booker caught the big man from Parts Unknown with a desperation low blow, unbeknownst to referee JD Sanders. Booker T mustered up his strength and hit Abyss with the Book End. Booker came up via the Spinaroonie and was ready to hit the Axe Kick, but before he could, STEVE BRADLEY was in the ring hitting him in the ribs with his baseball bat right in front of the referee! As one would expect, a disqualification was called for.

Booker T defeated Abyss by disqualification in 0:10:19.
Rating: **

Steve Bradley had a crazed look pasted on his face as he brought his bat Mofo crashing into the ribs of Booker T. Abyss started to go toward Bradley, but Shaniqua pulled her monster away and took him to the back. Steve Bradley meanwhile set Booker T up in the corner with intentions of bringing that aluminum baseball bat down onto the skull of Booker T! Luckily for Booker, officials pulled him out of the ring before any further damage could be done. Kurt Angle told Bradley that he had better find an opponent, and it looks like he is doing so in his own way.

["VIVA LA RAZA" blares over the sound system to a huge mixed reaction, albeit more cheers than jeers. It's been hard to miss Eddie Guerrero's change in attitude in past weeks, and to a point, it's justifiable. This Black Tiger mystery has been driving him crazy and he's been taking it out on everybody, most notably his nephew Chavo Guerrero Jr. Latino Heat comes to the ring minus the usual dancing and without his usual swagger, and perhaps most notably, minus his low rider. Eddie doesn't even bother asking for the microphone from ring announcer William Buck; he just takes it. Eddie gets in the ring and speaks.]

EG: Cut the music! I said cut the music! As you all could see, I didn't come out here with my usual swagger. I didn't come out here with my regular amount of Latino Heat. It's hard to do so when I have this knife in my back! Chavito, you're supposed to be my familia. Last week you had me second guessing myself. You had me thinking, essa, you had me thinking maybe you weren't the one who was Black Tiger. Maybe you were telling the truth. Maybe I made a mistake. But then when it was time for our tag match, you proved to me that I didn't make a mistake, holmes. I was right! Chavito, you crossed a line that should never be crossed! You messed with your familia. I can admit, I've done a lot of bad things in my life, essa, but one thing I wouldn't do is mess with familia. You crossed that line, Chavito, and there's no turning back. You're going to...

["OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH CHAVO!" Uh oh... here comes Chavo Guerrero Jr. Chavo comes out from the back and he looks upset. Chavo has a lot of explaining to do, but I don't know if Eddie is in much of a mood for any talking. Chavo wisely keeps a safe distance away from Eddie, remaining up at the top of the ramp rather than risk another beating like he received two weeks ago.]

CGJr.: Now let's calm down Eddie, and talk about this like adults.

EG: Talk? The time for talk is over, essa!

CGJr.: Will you just let me explain, Eddie? I know that this looks bad and that all signs point to me being Black Tiger, but you've gotta believe me, Eddie! It's not me!

EG: And why should I believe you, Chavo? You said you were going to make it up to me last week. You said you were going to prove your loyalty to the family, Chavito. But you didn't. You say you aren't Black Tiger. But you know what I saw last week? I saw Black Tiger in the ring, but I didn't see you, Chavito! But I guess it's hard to see you when you're hiding behind a mask!

CGJr.: No! Eddie! You don't understand! I was set up!

EG: Set up?

CGJr.: Yes. I was set up. I went back to my locker room to get ready before our match, and when it was time for me to come back out for our match, the door was locked. I couldn't get out, Eddie!

EG: The door was locked?

CGJr.: Yes, Eddie! It was locked! There was nothing I could do!

EG: Chavito, are you loco? Do you really expect me to believe that garbage? That trash? [In a mocking tone] "Oooh. The door was locked!" You make me sick, Chavo! We were like brothers!

CGJr.: We still are, Eddie! I wouldn't...

EG: ¡Cállese! ¡No más excusas! Yo no quiero oírlo. ¡Por mí, usted es no más larga mi familia!

[Most of the crowd is unaware of what Eddie just said, but by the looks of Chavo, it wasn't good. Chavo looks crushed. Eddie is meanwhile shaking with anger in the ring.]

CGJr.: Fine. If that's the way it's gotta be, that's the way it's gotta be.

[And with those cryptic words, Chavo heads to the back, leaving Latino Heat a pissed off individual in the ring. Cut to commercial.]

Match #5
Non-Title Match
Kurt Angle (World Heavyweight champion) vs. The Hurricane
The World Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle gave an ominous warning to the other members of the Sensationals: win at Retribution, or else. After laying down an ultimatum like that, a loss tonight by Angle to The Hurricane would be devastating. Which meant either one of two things: Angle was unfocused and would be susceptible to being upset by the Man In Green or that it was going to be a short night for The Hurricane. The latter proved to be true. Week in and week out The Hurricane shows that he's perhaps the most resilient wrestler in Global Championship Wrestling, but Kurt Angle hardly gave him a chance in this one, coming right at the Man In Green with a variety of suplexes. The Hurricane got only minimal offense in, but to his credit, he didn't quit when Angle got him in the Ankle Lock, trying to pull himself to the ropes. But when Kurt Angle gets you in the Ankle Lock, the chances of escaping are slim to nil. When The Hurricane stopped responding, referee Jimmy Appleseed had no choice but to call for the bell.

Kurt Angle defeated The Hurricane when The Hurricane passed out in the Ankle Lock in 0:06:45.
Rating: ****

It looks as if it's not a good time to be an opponent of Kurt Angle as he easily disposes of The Hurricane in this one. Being pinned two weeks in a row by Rey Mysterio Jr. has fired Angle up. It looks like Angle is going to be at the top of his game as he looks to make sure that at Retribution, lightning doesn't strike for a third time with the biggest prize in the game up for grabs.

Match #6
MAIN EVENT
On Commentary: North American champion Lance Storm and Dawn Marie
20-man Battle Royal for a North American Title shot at Retribution
Participants: Abyss, AJ Styles, Booker T, Brock Lesnar, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Christopher Daniels, Eddie Guerrero, Elix Skipper, Eric Angle, Goldust, Low-Ki, Monty Brown, Perry Saturn, Randy Orton, Red, Sean O'Haire, The Hurricane, Tommy Dreamer
Twenty of GCW's finest were getting a huge opportunity in this battle royal with high stakes. Lance Storm, the reigning North American champion, was at ringside to do commentary along with his lovely manager, Dawn Marie. The match started out quickly with all twenty men brawling, but it would be AJ Styles who would be the early MVP. Perry Saturn, still a bit tired from his match earlier with Teddy Hart, was quickly dumped out of the ring by Styles. Styles didn't have much time to react as when he turned back around, Chris Benoit had whipped Randy Orton toward him. Styles ducked and sent Orton flying to the floor with a backdrop, eliminating him much to the delight of the fans in Anaheim! It looks like Orton won't be doing double duty at Retribution. Styles would soon follow up by eliminating a third man in the form of Christopher Daniels, who Styles hit with an elbowdrop before sending him to the floor. Styles was quite proud of himself, eliminating three men in the first minute of the match. Styles became too cocky though as he stopped paying attention to the match, choosing to pat himself on the back instead. That was a huge mistake as Sean O'Haire, Daniels' loyal minion, nailed him with a huge clothesline and the Phenomenal One was heading to the locker room.

The match slowed down a bit as everyone started to settle in. The next man to be eliminated from the match would surprisingly be Chris Benoit. Benoit popped Booker T with a couple of hard forearm shots, stunning the Houston native. Benoit got a running start looking for the final blow to knock Booker T out of the ring, but Booker ducked and caught Benoit in a Gorilla Press. Booker turned his body and tossed Benoit over the top rope, eliminating him from contention. A very uncharacteristic mental mistake from the Rabid Wolverine.

With a fourth of the field eliminated, there were still four huge men left in the match: Brock Lesnar, Monty Brown, Sean O'Haire, and Abyss. An unspoken alliance started to be formed between the smaller competitors in the match, all of them knowing how difficult it would be to eliminate these men one-on-one. The first man they targeted was Shaniqua's monster Abyss. About six men rushed Abyss in an attempt to get him over the top but the 300-plus pound Abyss fought them all off with clubbing blows and headbutts. Abyss fought everyone off but Chavo Guerrero Jr., who he grabbed around the neck in a two-handed chokehold. Abyss placed Chavo on the top rope all the while having a hold of his throat. Before he could eliminate Chavo, Eddie Guerrero of all people nailed Abyss with a dropkick, sending both him and Chavo out of the ring! But Chavo held onto the ropes and was able to pull himself in as Abyss crashed to the floor below, taking him out of the match!

A minute later, Tommy Dreamer grabbed a hold of Jericho by the hair and tossed him over the top, but Jericho grabbed a hold of the top rope. Jericho attempted to skin the cat, but before he could, SHAWN MICHAELS ran out and nailed Jericho underneath the chin with the Sweet Chin Music! The Heartbreak Kid is back! Jericho crumbled to the floor and he was out of the match. Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho will meet at Retribution, but HBK wanted a piece of Y2J right now as he began nailing him with right hands causing the referees to have to pull him away. Michaels believes Jericho intentionally tried to end his career with that chair shot at Summer Sizzler, and he's back to exact some revenge. While Michaels was brawling with Jericho, Chavo Guerrero Jr. was eliminated on the other side of the ring by Sean O'Haire. Finally, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho were separated, but this one is far from over.

As the number of wrestlers in the ring began to dwindle, alliances between wrestlers started to come into play. Tommy Dreamer and The Amazing Red of the Revolution remained in the match, as did Low-Ki and Elix Skipper. However, whereas Dreamer and Red worked together and helped keep each other in the match, the pressure of a potential title shot caused Low-Ki and Skipper to go at it tooth and nail. Low-Ki has tasted gold before, being the first GCW Cruiserweight champion, and he would love to have a chance to become the North American champion. But Low-Ki got a little overzealous when he attempted to hit a Tidal Wave on Skipper, but Primetime moved out of the way and Low-Ki crotched himself on the top turnbuckle. Low-Ki stumbled back into the ring right into an inverted suplex from Elix Skipper. Moments later, Skipper eliminated his partner from the match. Low-Ki would find a small bit of vindication though, as it wouldn't be long before Skipper was thrown out by Brock Lesnar, who surprisingly had remained quiet up to this point in the match.

Speaking of Brock Lesnar, he had laid low through much of this match which was a shock to many of us. For someone who has terrorized the GCW roster for the past month and a half, you'd expect him to be a little more of a force in this battle royal. Well he was about to explode as for the first time in this match, Monty Brown and he caught sight of each other. The crowd came into a frenzy as the two monsters clashed in the ring, exchanging huge punches back and forth. Brown was getting the better of Lesnar until Lesnar countered with a kneelift to the stomach of the Alpha Male. Lesnar scooped Brown up on his shoulders and started for the ropes to eliminate Brown, but the Alpha Male slipped off and got behind Lesnar, lifting him up and pushing him over the ropes. Monty Brown is one of the strongest men in GCW and he showed it as he had Lesnar on the verge of elimination, and with an assist from Goldust, Brock Lesnar was out of the match! Lesnar was furious at ringside, kicking the ringsteps and threatening to hit the referees, but he left without much incident.

Tommy Dreamer and Red were still working well together as they worked over Booker T in the corner trying to get him out of the match. They almost had Booker over, but he fought back by hitting Red with a few shots to the ribs and raking at Dreamer's eyes. Booker got back in the ring and Dreamer took a wild swing at him, but Booker T ducked and dropped the Innovator of Violence with the Book End! Booker picked Dreamer up and tossed him over the top as Red was just a split second too late to make the save. Red hit Booker in the back, but Booker turned around and clocked Red. Booker grabbed the Amazing Red and threw him out of the ring, but PERRY SATURN was back down there and Tommy Dreamer and he caught Red before his feet hit the ground and tossed him back in the ring, keeping him alive in this match! Unfortunately for Goldust, he didn't have anybody to help him out like that as Sean O'Haire took him out of the contest. Tommy Dreamer and Perry Saturn decided to stay down at ringside for the remainder of the match, a point that Lance Storm didn't take too kindly to on commentary.

Booker T had been wrestling a good match, being aggressive enough to make a couple of eliminations, but defensive enough to not make any mistakes resulting in him being tossed out of the ring. However, he hadn't yet run into Monty Brown, who looked poised to win this match. Booker was fighting with Brown, but the former New England Patriot overpowered Booker, catching him with a double underhook suplex. That took the wind out of Booker T just enough for Brown to eliminate him from the ring, leaving us with six men remaining, that is until The Hurricane surprised the mentally unstable Eddie Guerrero with a clothesline and dropping him to the floor! Latino Heat was stunned, but he wasn't paying attention and The Hurricane made him pay for it.

We were down to the last five men: The Hurricane, Red, Sean O'Haire, Monty Brown, and Eric Angle. It must be said that we haven't mentioned Eric Angle yet in this match, and that was because he did an excellent job of hiding. Angle was even laying on the mat holding onto the bottom rope for a portion of this match. It got him stomped more than a few times, but it kept him in the ring. At this point, Monty Brown kicked it into overdrive. Brown started by nailing Red with a big powerslam and then hit The Hurricane with a power bomb. Monty Brown turned toward Angle, but Angle wisely slid under the bottom rope and ran about halfway up the ramp. Brown was none too happy with Angle running away, but he didn't have time to chase as Sean O'Haire caught him with a kick to the back. O'Haire pounded away at Brown before whipping him into the ropes. O'Haire went for a Yakuza kick, but Brown ducked, hit the far ropes and plastered O'Haire with the Pounce! Brown picked up O'Haire and pointed toward the ropes, signaling he was going to throw him out, but Eric Angle slipped back into the ring, hit Monty Brown with a low blow (which is legal in a match like this), and using a great piece of leverage got Brown out of the ring!

Eric Angle started celebrating as if he just duplicated his brother's Olympic gold medal win. Angle even did the patented Kurt Angle spin which definitely got the crowd booing him loudly. While Angle was celebrating, he didn't see Sean O'Haire getting back to his feet. Well, he certainly figured it out when O'Haire grabbed him from behind and sent him soaring out of the ring and to the floor, eliminating him! You normally wouldn't hear Sean O'Haire get a crowd reaction like he did, but they loved watching Eric Angle be made to look like a fool. This only left O'Haire, The Hurricane, and Red, and O'Haire had the decided advantage, even with Tommy Dreamer and Perry Saturn still at ringside.

Red and The Hurricane gave each other a look and knew that if they wanted a shot to win this, they were going to have to work together to eliminate the much larger O'Haire. O'Haire looked at the two-on-one and he gave both his smaller adversaries a sadistic smile. The Hurricane and Red jumped O'Haire and fired away at him with right hands, but O'Haire pushed them both off. O'Haire took turns hitting one man and then the other. O'Haire grabbed both men by the throat, one in each hand, and was looking to put them both out at the same time. The two cruiserweights had other ideas as they hit O'Haire with dual kicks to the midsection followed by a double DDT which brought the crowd to a roar. The Hurricane worked the crowd by striking his superhero pose, but that was a huge mistake as Red made sure their alliance was a short one as he dropkicked the Man In Green and sent him over the top to the floor!

Sean O'Haire was back to his feet, and needless to say, Red looked a little worried. Red called for help and he got it as Dreamer and Saturn rushed in the ring and attacked O'Haire. Dreamer held O'Haire's arms behind his back for Saturn, who went for a superkick. O'Haire escaped and Saturn's foot connected with Dreamer instead! Dreamer rolled out of the ring as Saturn charged O'Haire, but O'Haire ducked and backdropped Saturn over the top rope. Red had no choice but to fight O'Haire now, and he tried to get the jump on the big man with a forearm to the back, but it didn't even make O'Haire flinch. O'Haire swung around and took Red's head off with a clothesline. O'Haire picked Red up in a Gorilla Press and went to throw Red out, but Dreamer and Saturn were there again, ready to catch him. Dreamer and Saturn smiled thinking they had outsmarted Sean O'Haire. O'Haire hesitated, backed up a bit, and got a running start, launching Red clear into the second row of the crowd much to the dismay of the Revolution, but to the delight of the crowd.

Sean O'Haire fought hard for nearly 25 minutes and as a result has earned himself a North American Title shot at Retribution, which has to make Christopher Daniels happy. We went off the air this week with O'Haire pointing at Lance Storm in the announce position yelling that the North American Title would soon be his. A quality way to end a quality show.

With tonight's card in the books, we now have a clear picture of what the card will be for the next pay-per-view, Retribution, which will come to you live on September 19th from Portland, Oregon's Rose Garden Arena. Here's what things look like so far:

World Heavyweight Title Match - Kurt Angle (c) vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.

North American Title Match - Lance Storm (c) vs. Sean O'Haire

World Tag Team Title Match - The Basham Brothers (c) vs. Billy Kidman/Cruiserweight champion Paul London

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels vs. "Y2J" Chris Jericho

Number-One Contenders Match - The World's Greatest Tag Team vs. The Hardy Boyz

When more matches are signed, you will hear it here first! See you next week!

Sweet show.  Wish I had more time to put that effort into my cards.  The ppv looks good.  Angle and Misterio should be excellent. Rey Rey recently won a heavyweight title tournament for me, so the little guy will give Angle a run for his money.  Speaking of angle, I like this Sensationals group. You can't find 4 more cocky, but talented guys.  I always thought Steve Bradley was underated.  Hope London and Kidman takes the titles, just for London's sake, because he is awesome, and has the better shooting star :)

Yeah, really love the Rey push... for obvious reasons..  ;D

While I agree with everyone that Rey Rey will put on an awesome match, there is no way he will be pushed over Angle. Rey Rey capturing the TV Title is probly where his push should stop for now.

On another note, I haven't seen Goldust in action recently, I found this to be one of your more entertaining feuds, is he hurt? I don't see how Booker T can move on to a feud with Bradley until Goldust is taken care of.

Overall your circuit is the most entertaining as it doesn't follow the Old School Rules and is more complete in the building up of feuds than most of the Ricks Rules feds being posted. The Sensationals have been brilliant since the beginning and the Black Tiger mystery has me checking back on a regular basis.

Hey, O'Haire won, a big O'Haire push is one of those wet dream pushes. Mind you...

O'Haire hesitated, backed up a bit, and got a running start, launching Red clear into the second row of the crowd much to the dismay of the Revolution, but to the delight of the crowd.

Yeah, to the delight of the crowd, if they're not in the second row. :P

Gotta agree with Murphy here - whilst you've done a great job of making Rey look like a legit challenger to the title, I can't see him having a snowballs chance in hell of actually taking the gold off Angle after guys like Benoit, Booker and Lesnar have all failed. That said, it was a big shocker to me that Bradley dropped the gold here, I thought we were looking at a sure-fire DQ finish. I reckon Bradley will take it back but still...

Apparently, despite not knowing a word of it, I can read Spanish. Sort of - "you are no longer a member of my family", right? Explains Chavitos absence, I still can't see him being the Black Tiger.

The Revolution are looking like jerkbags, which is a good thing. I sense Red being the forerunner of that little group.

Decent little show there, the Rey win threw me somewhat but dare I say that was supposed to be the idea.

Goldust is not hurt... he was in the battle royal.  The Booker/Goldust stuff is by no means done... I just needed it to take a brief hiccup to get some other stuff done.  But thanks for your kind words.
Snabbit888Posted on 11/08/04 at 22:32:40

Yeah... I don't know if the Spanish is exact as I used www.freetranslation.com and that's what it gave me, but yes, that's the idea.

As CotD has accurately stated, Steve Bradley is one of my pet projects, but I never planned on giving him a lengthy TV Title reign.  I have stuff planned for him.  I just wanted to definitely establish that Rey is primarily wrestling with the heavyweights right now.  I think he's too much of an asset to be cruiserweight and cruiserweight alone.

Good stuff as always, Ryan.

Rey Misterio Jr. winning the TV Title came as a surprise to me.  Considering you're building him up as the top contender to Angle's title, I didn't expect him to pick up another belt along the way.  The Sensationals have got to be upset at Bradley.

The wildcard match was interesting, to say the least.  Next time I start a new circuit, I may just consider using a few of them.  Speaking of which, I really like what you're doing with Dreamer's group of buddies.

London and Kidman are top contenders!  Yes!  I really like their team a lot.  Of course, I preferred Spanky and London as a team, but Kidman isn't exactly a slouch either, even if he's not as good as he once was.  I don't see them defeating the Bashams, though, especially since London already holds a title.

It's been said before, but Abyss with Shaniqua's group is a pretty good fit.  His match with Booker here tonight looked solid, but Bradley apparently found himself an opponent by stepping in here.  Can't help but think that Goldust will interfere in the PPV match.

Good stuff with Eddie and Chavo.  I won't comment too much on it because of the discussions on the angle that we've had, but I like how you're building it.  Great stuff.

How do you spell Kurt Angle vs. The Hurricane?  (Or, for that matter, almost anyone vs. The Hurricane?)  S-Q-U-A-S-H.  But an entertaining squash.

I love battle royals, so the main event was a treat.  Seeing Sean O'Haire come out on top wasn't that much of a shock, but I think it was a good call.  Considering the substantial push he's been getting as of late, I'm going to pick him to go over Lance Storm.  It might not be this month, however.

Once again, great stuff.
