GWE Monday Night Rage
Date: 1/12/2004
Venue: Mohegan Sun Casino
Location: Uncasville, Connecticut

[Kurt Angle and JBL enter the arena in JBL's custom made longhorn limousine.  They get out of the limo and walk down to the ring receiving boos from the crowd.  Once side, Kurt Angle motions for the microphone and receives one.]

Kurt Angle:  As you can see, John Bradshaw Layfield and I are standing side by side.  There's a reason for that.  We are both proud Americans and winners.  We're Great Americans.  What we have is an alliance that will grow larger as the weeks progress.  Oh it's true.

[Kurt Angle hands the microphone to JBL.]

JBL: I've had quite the success on Wall Street and on giving people advice to make themselves some cold, hard money.  Here in the Global Wrestling Entertainment, that success will be translated into squared circle victories over and over and over again.  It started last week when I beat Rob Van Dam in a Texas Bullrope Match.  It will continue tonight when Kurt and I beat The Undertaker and that border hoppin', burrito lovin' illegal Eddie Guerrero in a tag team match.

[BOO!  JBL hands the microphone back to Kurt Angle.]

Kurt Angle: You're right on about Eddie Guerrero.  He doesn't deserve to be in the same ring as us.  Heck, he doesn't even deserve to be in the same country as us!  We've made it our goal to drive you out of our country.  The great lands of the United States of America and take back our country!  It's true, oh it's damn true!

[BOO!!  The boos subside and turn into cheers as Eddie Guerrero walks out with a microphone.]

Eddie Guerrero:  Kurt Angle and JBL, you two aren't exactly what I call Great Americans.  Because if you represent the best that our country has to offer, we don't have much to be proud of.  But the fact is, you two vatos don't speak for all Americans.  This country is great because of its diversity and openness.  So you say you're going to drive me out of the GWE?  After tonight's tag team match when I team up with The Undertaker, the only people being driven out will be you!

[POP!]

Eddie Guerrero: You might be wondering where my tag team partner is at.  He has his own message for you.

[The lights go off and the bong sounds begin.  The Undertaker is heard saying: REST...IN...PEACE!  When the lights turn on moments later, we see JBL and Kurt Angle holding each other, both scared of the possibility of The Undertaker doing what he did at the end of last week's show.  Eddie Guerrero and the crowd laugh at the two in the ring.  Once the heels realize they've been duped, they stop holding each other and Kurt Angle gets back on the microphone.]

Kurt Angle:  Alright!  You've done it now Guerrero!  We demand that you get your ass in this ring right now!  No one tries to make fools out of The Great Americans!

Eddie Guerrero:  Kurt, it looks like someone did exactly that.  Oh, about getting in the ring with you two.  I will, but not now.  I'm going to the back to watch the tag team tournament and try my best to stop laughing at you clowns.

[Eddie Guerrero goes to the back laughing while Kurt Angle and JBL are furious in the ring.]

[Round 1]:
Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree defeated The Shooting Star Express (Billy Kidman and Paul London) when K. Suzuki pinned Kidman after an inverted DDT onto the knee in 0:16:57.
Rating: ** 3/4
Comments: The tournament to crown our first tag team champions got underway with a surprise.  The Shooting Star Express were favored over the team of Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree due to being more experienced as a tag team.  The Shooting Star Express had many near falls over Suzuki and Dupree but they never were able to capitalize on them.  The end came when Kenzo Suzuki ducked a clothesline by Billy Kidman and caught him on the rebound with an inverted DDT smack onto his knee that scored the pinfall.

[Round 1]:
Booker T and Heidenreich defeated Hard Asses (Hardcore Holly and Billy Gunn) when Heidenreich pinned B. Gunn with the Power Bomb in 0:12:44.
Rating: ** 1/4
Comments: After the destruction caused by Heidenreich last week, you have to believe Paul Heyman is absolutely giddy about representing him.  The interesting thing is that Paul Heyman is managing two tag teams in this tournament (The Bashams and Booker T and Heidenreich).  Despise his power and strength, Billy Gunn and Hardcore Holly didn't show any signs of weakness against the monster Heidenreich.  In fact, they kept Heidenreich in the match and tried at all costs to keep him away from tagging to Booker T because they viewed him as the weaker member of the team.  Considering Booker T's track record in tag teams, that may have been a smart choice.  But in the end, Heidenreich's power won out over his inexperience as he hit a vicious Power Bomb on Billy Gunn for the win.  Booker T and Heidenreich will advance to face Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree in the semifinals.

[Round 1]:
Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio defeated The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) when RVD pinned S. Benjamin after a standing moonsault in 0:08:59.
Rating: * 3/4
Comments: The World's Greatest Tag Team was looking to make up for losing against The Shooting Star Express last week in the first ever GWE match by winning the World Tag Team Titles this week.  It was not to be as they suffer their second loss in a row and this time to the make shift team of Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio.  Rob Van Dam came to the aide of Rey Mysterio last week during that attack by Heidenreich and they have formed a friendship and now a tag team.

[Round 1]:
The Bashams (Doug Basham and Danny Basham) defeated Rising Power (Rhyno and Tajiri) when Danny Basham pinned Tajiri after the Ball And Gag Bomb in 0:16:38.
Rating: ** 3/4
Comments: This was a rematch from last week that had Rhyno and Tajiri spoil The Bashams' debut under the guidance of Paul Heyman.  Speaking of Paul Heyman, he came in handy here as he distracted the referee after Rhyno gored Doug Basham and went for the pin.  That was a crucial turning point in this match because Rhyno would've certainly gotten the pinfall had the referee been able to make the count.  Instead, minutes later Rising Power would wind up on the losing end after The Basham successfully executed the Ball and Gag on Tajiri.  This victory sets up the possibility of two Paul Heyman clients going head to head in the finals of this tournament if both The Bashams and Heidenreich and Booker
T win their respective matches in the semifinals.

[Semi-Finals]:
Booker T and Heidenreich defeated Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree when Heidenreich pinned K. Suzuki after a powerslam in 0:02:32.
Rating: **
Comments:  Heidenreich!  This man is a force to be reckoned with in GWE.  Heidenreich never had to tag out in the two minutes and thirty seconds it lasted.  One powerslam on Kenzo Suzuki was all that was necessary to secure the victory and a spot in the finals of the tournament.

[Semi-Finals]:
The Bashams (Doug Basham and Danny Basham) defeated Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio when Doug Basham pinned RVD with the Leg Lariat in 0:07:38.
Rating: *** 1/4
Comments: The Bashams win and in the process make Paul Heyman one happy man.  Regardless of who wins the tournament's final match, Paul Heyman will be a winner as he will represent the tag team champions regardless.

[Finals]: Match for the vacant GWE World Tag Team Titles:
The Bashams (Doug Basham and Danny Basham) defeated Booker T and Heidenreich when Danny Basham pinned Booker with the Brain Damage in 0:07:39.
Rating: * 3/4
(The Bashams won the GWE World Tag Team Titles.)
Comments: Instead of trying to win this match, Heidenreich costs his team the match when he surprised Booker T with a choke slam and then left the ring.  This allowed the Bashams to take a 2 on 1 advantage over Booker T and eventually win the match when Danny Basham executed the Brain Damage.  The Bashams are GWE's first world tag team champions.  Their manager Paul Heyman predicted this would happen and it did.  Now, will he be able to replicate the same success for Heidenreich in the upcoming world heavyweight title tournament in a few weeks?  We shall see.  Speaking of Heidenreich, you have to believe that Booker T is not too pleased with what happened in this match and will be looking for revenge next week.

Eddie Guerrero and The Undertaker defeated Kurt Angle and John Bradshaw Layfield when Undertaker pinned K. Angle with the Tombstone in 0:04:55.
Rating: * 3/4
Comments: This was not a very good night for Kurt Angle and John Bradshaw Layfield.  The Great Americans not only were embarassed earlier by Eddie Guerrero, but were completely overwhelmed in tag team competition against Eddie Guerrero and The Undertaker.  The Undertaker blocked an Angle Slam attempt and would follow it up a few moments later with the Tombstone for the win.  Not surprisingly, Kurt Angle and John Bradshaw Layfield have both requested singles matches for next week against The Undertaker and Eddie Guerrero, respectively, to avenge what happened this week.

Card rating: ** 1/4

Match observations:

We already have some matches scheduled for next week's show.

MAIN EVENT
The Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle

John Bradshaw Layfield vs. Eddie Guerrero

Heidenreich w/Paul Heyman vs. Booker T

The new World Tag Team Champions, The Bashams, will defend their titles against the winner of a Four Corners Match between Rising Power, Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree, Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio, and the World's Greatest Tag Team.

The Shooting Star Express will be in action against a mystery tag team.  Considering all the great teams in the wrestling industry, this should be a good one.

Also, the Hard Asses team of Billy Gunn and Hardcore Holly will look to bounce back from their loss in the tournament as they'll be in action next week.

My computer's hard drive crashed yesterday.  Everything is gone!  I got the computer in late 2001 too!  Stupid Compaq!

So everything I've ever done with TNM is gone too.  I had run an old school "old school" circuit for awhile that I didn't post.

The GWE was my favorite since I was actually able to churn a lot of cards and be able to write comments and full interviews too.

I could try to re-do the circuit again, but I'm so angry right now I don't know if its worth it.

It's a damn conspiracy by the net marks that didn't want to see JBL and Heidenreich succeed.

yet another reason why people should perform backups to removeable media about once a month.

I learned that the HARD way too with BCW.

And yes it really does suck to lose everything on your hard drive like that.

Argh!  You lost the circuit?  That sucks!  I was really enjoying this one too.  I'm a huge mark for Paul Heyman as a manager, of course, and he had quite a few high profile clients here.

That's a damn shame.  Here's hoping you put together something new soon, because I'd love to see more from you.

Yeah, this was good stuff. Real heel heavy wins in the tag tourney, but what can you do?

I was looking forward to seeing Booker get revenge more than anything else.
HugeRockStar760Posted on 10/26/04 at 05:11:37

I appreciate the comments guys.  I think I might just try to re-do the circuit using the two cards I posted here.  I think I got to about week 12 before the slobberknocker to my hard drive happened.

The tough part is doing the interviews again and writing comments when everything was all complete and finished.

Or I could try something different.  But I liked the roster I used.
