The makeshift duo of Jimmy Rave and Joey Matthews somehow win this war of attrition. Despite dominating most of the match, they just couldn't seem to put Sabin and Luke down. Things looked bad when Luke just managed to avoid submitting or passing out to the Satellite Crossface as time ran out, but Rave managed to finally put him away. As Rave and Matthews were celebrating in the ring however, something strange seemed to occur as Chris Daniels came out of the locker room with a smile on his face and began clapping. He made eye contact with Jimmy Rave who seemed a bit disturbed by it all.

As the competitors left the ring, Low Ki's music hit and he stormed his way to the ring and called for the mic.

Ki: Well, well, well, the Dragon has come to play in Setting Sun Pro Wrestling. You see, I heard this place was supposed to be the new thing in American wrestling. Taking the best young American talent, and putting them in a Japanese style environment. I thought to myself, why do that, when the world already knows Low Ki is the strongest fighter in the world, no matter the hemisphere. I've been to America and I've destroyed everyone I've faced. I've been to Japan and embarassed everyone they have to offer. It seemed to me that SSPW wasn't the next evolution of pro wrestling...IT IS THE LAST HURRAH! I will destroy each and every competitor in the back, take the Ace Superior title, and cement my legacy in this business.

The crowd is resounding with boos when suddenly "Miseria Cantare" begins to play and the crowd comes to their feet as the sXe icon, CM Punk slowly walks to the ring and slides in. He and Ki go nose to nose before Punk pulls another mic out of his jacket pocket.

Punk: You expect these people to believe that you're the best the world has to offer? I don't think so.

[POP!]

Punk: While you were out with your thug friends, boozing it up and doing whatever it is you all do together at night, I was making a name for myself, night by night. Ask Raven what I can do in the ring. Ask Steve Corino about how my poison-free lifestyle makes me better than him. Ask Chris Hero how many times I've shown him who the better man is. You see Low Ki, you may be "the dragon," but I'm straightedge. And in case your Neanderthal brain doesn't understand, straightedge means I'm better than you.

With that, Punk pokes Ki in the chest and Ki seems about to go ballistic.

Ki: CM Punk, you are tempting fate by coming out here. I've nearly ended careers for less than what you've said to me tonight.

Punk: Then do it you whiney bastard. Don't stand there and talk about how you'll destroy me, -censored- destroy me.

[BIG POP!]

Ki: You'd like that Punk, you want to call me out now when you think you have the element of surprise. But no, I'm going to let you contemplate your fear longer than that. I will face you CM Punk, but not now. The name Low Ki belongs at the top of the card, so I'll meet you tonight in the main event.

The crowd really seems to dig the idea of Ki and Punk getting it on. Ki leaves the ring with Punk staring holes in the back of his head. Pausing on the apron, Ki turns back to face Punk.

Ki: And remember, you aren't the only one trying to surprise people.

Punk and the whole crowd seem to be wondering exactly what he means by this when suddenly a very large man runs through the crowd and slides in the ring CM Punk. The crowd comes to life and realizes it is...VADER!!!!!! Vader spins Punk around and the two begin exchanging blows before Ki climbs back in the ring and Punk gets double teamed. Before any real damage can be done however, Colt Cabanna sprints to the ring with a chair in hand and Ki and Vader bail. Cabana checks on Punk and then grabs the mic off the ground.

Cabana: I'm normally a fun-loving guy, but not when two idiots decide to jump my best friend. Vader is your secret weapon Ki? Fine! I want Vader...TONIGHT!!! Vader claims to be a monster, claims to destroy careers. Well I'll destroy him. We're going to have a little fun and make this a stretcher match and YOU...WILL...PAY!

Vader just nods with a sick grin on his face to accept the challenge.

These two young men really know each other well and it showed tonight as this match clicked on all cylinders. The two men traded the lead several times in the course of the match before Strong managed to secure a win and earned himself the respect of this Charlotte, NC crowd.

Cameras cut to the back where none other than Samoa Joe is standing.

Joe: Let me say one thing first. I've never been a fan of CM Punk, and anyone who knows both of us could obviously tell. However, I wish him the best of luck in teaching that cocky son of a -censored- Low Ki some humility tonight.

Joe smiles at that thought.

Joe: Tonight I'm taking on Christoper Daniels. The Fallen Angel. I don't care what they call you Daniels, I've beaten you before and I'll beat you again. I'm bigger, stronger, and smarter than you will ever be Chris Daniels. So I guess I'll see you tonight...in my ring.

Scene then fades to a different part in the rear of the arena. Chris Daniels is there massaging his hands together with his trademark smile on his face.

Daniels: Everywhere I go, people ask me when will it be Chris Daniels' turn, when will Chris Daniels finally win singles gold. Well the time is soon my children.

Daniels laughs that evil laugh of his.

Daniels: Setting Sun Pro Wrestling is the site of the next stage of the Prophecy. This time I'll only be taking the best with me on my run to the top. No more jokes like BJ Whitmer or Dan Maff or Xavier. No, there are men far more talented here in SSPW that have their places in the Prophecy.

He holds up his right hand and extends on finger.

Daniels: For one, Mr. Jimmy Rave. Jimmy you proved yourself tonight. You could go far under my tutelage. You don't have to answer tonight, just think about it.

The smile is suddenly gone and "The Fallen Angel" is all business.

Daniels: But there are pressing matters for tonight. You see, I'm stepping in the ring with Samoa Joe. The whole world has seen me beat you Joe, the whole world except for a single referee. You know I have your number Samoa Joe. I made you, and tonight I will break you. You can't change that Joe, it's just destiny.

Scene cuts back to the ring for our next match...

Another solid competition here. Whitmer and Stryker have faced each other many times before, with both men getting the nod but tonight it was Whitmer with the win. BJ seemed a house of fire after the comments directed towards him by Chris Daniels earlier in the night. After the match, Whitmer grabbed the house mic.

Whitmer: Daniels, I'm not sure what kind of -censored- you're talking, but no one believes you anymore.

[POP!]

Whitmer: Instead of sitting in the back and running your mouth, come out here and face me like a man.

Daniels doesn't come out and this prompts the crowd to boo almost as much as if he had come out. Instead, Stryker has rolled out of the ring and grabbed a mic of his own.

Stryker: BJ, I think you need to calm down. You got a lucky win tonight, but next time you won't be so lucky. And there will be a next time BJ. See, I've found someone who knows you better than you know yourself. They've taught me everything there is to know about you and when we meet next time, you'll be the one taking the fall. I promise you that.

Whitmer turns to face Stryker.

Whitmer: Big words coming from a loser. I'm willing to go with you anytime, any place.

Stryker just leaves with a smirk on his face. After a few moments, Whitmer goes to the back as well.

STRONG STYLE WAR!!!!!!!! Short and brutal this was the perfect way to send things into intermission. The Briscoes dominated early but the SST fought back valiantly and ended up scoring the wins in this one. Both these teams will be teams to watch next week during the tag team title tournament.

This one definately wasn't pretty and was more of a slugfest than a wrestling match. Vader and Cabana just beat the living hell out of each other, a match up that Vader was obviously better suited to win. Cabana was a little banged up after the match and was sent to an area hospital after the match to get checked out.

Backstage cameras catch Jimmy Rave, still in his ring gear, pacing the hallways.

Looks like Samoa Joe was the one that should of been talking trash earlier in the night. He proved himself here by defeating "The Fallen Angel" cleanly in the middle of the ring. The celebration was cut short however as Jimmy Rave ran to the ring with a chair and cracked it over the back of Joe's skull. Daniels and Rave were working over Joe when suddenly BJ Whitmer hit the ring!!! Whitmer managed to fight the two members off the Prophecy off and send them running before checking on Joe. Samoa Joe slowly got to his feet and the two men shook hands.

The crowd soon had reason to boo again as Steve Corino made his way to the ring, accomponied by Alex Shelley and Joey Matthews!? He got in the ring and grabbed the mic.

Corino: Tonight I'm facing some Canadian joker by the name of Petey Williams. I don't know if anyone has told him yet, but I'm STEVE CORINO!!! The King of Old School!!! The Destroyer of All Flippy -censored-!!! And the -censored- GOD!!!!! of Pro Wrestling. And after I get done with him, I'm going to go back to the back with a couple of Charlotte's most beautiful young ladies, and help these two men here with me get ready for their place in the tag title tournament next week.

Another hot bout to end the night off. These two went at it at top speed, tearing into each other. Ki went for the Ki Krusher multiple times early, but couldn't manage to hit it. Punk then took control and won this one clean. Things wouldn't stay so nice though, as Vader ran out and blindsided Punk. He pounded on the smaller man until Ki got back to his feet. Ki drilled Punk with a sick looking Ki Krusher that left Punk sprawled on the mat holding his neck. Ki and Vader stood victorious as the show ended.

Always nice to see anohter Oldschool Rules fed.  Rick's rules are always fun in that they produce very solid feds with consistent storylines and enough variety to keep things from getting monotonous.

Being the ROH mark that I am, I really like your roster a lot.  CM Punk as your top face is an interesting pick.  But Colt Cabana as the man to face Vader feels a bit like squash fodder to me.  Samoa Joe, on the other hand, would be a tremendous match for the big man from Boulder.

Ouch.  Your top face got injured on your first card.  I've never seen that happen before.  Congratulations, your luck is terrible!  ;)  I think I can predict Punk's replacement for next week's match, though...

Low Ki makes a surprisingly good heel.  I was unconvinced when I heard he had turned, but after 10/2 I saw just how well he does in the role.

Incidentally, I really like your work with promos.  You've definately done a good job of capturing their characters in their interviews.

Given the name and theme of this circuit, I think you'd benefit from bringing in a few international guys.  Just my opinion, of course.

Yeah, it always makes the booking job easy.

Yeah, the roster came together real well. Punk is actually my 'franchise' guy. ROH is using him as a face now so I'm trying to take him and run with him as a top guy. My original plan was to use Joe as Vader's foil, but I want to hold off as long as I can on any storylines involing Punk/Joe whther as allies or enemies.

Ouch.  Your top face got injured on your first card.  I've never seen that happen before.  Congratulations, your luck is terrible!  ;)  I think I can predict Punk's replacement for next week's match, though...
Yeah, definately a bad turn of events, especially with him winning the match. Hence the ad hoc attack after the match. Just out of curiousity, who do you pick to be Punk's replacement?

Low Ki makes a surprisingly good heel.  I was unconvinced when I heard he had turned, but after 10/2 I saw just how well he does in the role.
Yeah, I actually like having Ki be a heel anyway, since he tended to always get on my nerves anyway.

Thanks. The easiest ones are Punk, Daniels, and Ki. Punk just has that kind of I hate everyone type promos and Daniels just thinks he's God or something. Ki on the other hand is easy to write because as I write all I can hear is his voice saying this really over the top melodramatic lines.

I'm thinking about it, but then it is the land of the setting sun. I'm almost looking at Japanese wrestlers the way puro promotions look at American guys. I'll bring some in later but I want to build up the company first.

Oh, and the second show should be up sometime soon, I'm probably altering the format of my posts however.

Punk's replacement will be Ace Steel, of course.  Who better than his SCS teammate to fill in for him while he's injured?  Granted, he doesn't have the same star power, but it'd make a lot of sense.  Corino would also work, since I don't see him listed yet on next week's card...

Well, the next card's up so you can go check for yourself.
