Match #1
The Hardy Boyz vs. Hardcore Holly/Perry Saturn
We kicked off August with tag team action on High Voltage, with the Hardy Boyz taking on Hardcore Holly and Perry Saturn. Some were worried about how well Matt and Jeff Hardy would adjust to being back together as a team. Many thought there would be a lot of ring rust. Well based on their performance against the Basham Brothers and tonight against Holly and Saturn, the Hardyz are back strong. They had little to no trouble finishing off their opponents as Matt Hardy hit the Twist of Fate on Hardcore Holly to take the win.

The Hardy Boyz (Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy) defeated Hardcore Holly and Perry Saturn when M. Hardy pinned H. Holly with the Twist Of Fate in 0:04:56.
Rating: ** 3/4

If the Hardy Boyz continue to wrestle like this, I predict the World Tag Team Titles changing hands for the fourth pay-per-view in a row.

Match #2
The Hurricane vs. Sean O'Haire (w/ Daffney)
The Hurricane proclaims that he fights for truth and justice. O'Haire fights because he's a little unbalanced, and when you have a man with O'Haire's capabilities under the tutelage of someone as twisted as Christopher Daniels, it's a really scary thing. The Man In Green came right at O'Haire as we knew he would, but O'Haire's size and strength were too much for the superhero to overcome. O'Haire showed just how strong he is when he caught The Hurricane in a crossbody attempt, powered the Man In Green onto his shoulders, and drilled him with the Prophecy. That, as they say, was all she wrote.

Sean O'Haire pinned The Hurricane with the Prophecy in 0:10:58.
Rating: ***

Sean O'Haire continues to impress. Christopher Daniels has O'Haire focused, set out on hurting a lot of people. Last Monday it was Low-Ki, Elix Skipper, Monty Brown and AJ Styles on the receiving end of O'Haire's wrath. Who knows who could be next?

Match #3
Non-Title Match
Rey Mysterio Jr. (Cruiserweight champion) vs. Super Calo
Rey Mysterio Jr. has had an impressive run as Cruiserweight champion thus far, taking on any cruiserweight who comes along. This week, he wrestled an old rival of his in a non-title match, as Super Calo made a GCW appearance. It's been a long time since I've seen Super Calo in action, but he looked good. You could tell he was very familiar with Mysterio, as he always seemed to be in the right place and countered several of Mysterio's high-flying moves. However, Mysterio is the best cruiserweight in the world, and he proved that when he caught Super Calo with a flying cross body press to secure a victory on High Voltage.

Rey Mysterio Jr. pinned Super Calo after a flying cross body press in 0:07:59.
Rating: ***

Rey Mysterio Jr. continues his winning ways this week. Now Mysterio awaits the winner of the Low-Ki/Paul London match tomorrow night on Explosion to see who he will defend the Cruiserweight Title against at Summer Sizzler.

Match #4
MAIN EVENT
Shelton Benjamin vs. "The Whole F'n Show" Rob Van Dam
What promised to be a fantastic main event to High Voltage ended with unfortunate results as Shelton Benjamin took on Rob Van Dam. The clash in styles hurt this match a bit, but the crowd was really into this one from the get-go. RVD, the more experienced singles wrestler, used his unorthodox offense to wear Benjamin down. Benjamin may be the best pure athlete in Global Championship Wrestling though, and he fought back with a huge powerslam. Benjamin whipped RVD into the turnbuckle, which is where things began to go wrong.

Benjamin rushed in with an attempt at a big flying "Shelton splash," but RVD got out of the way, causing Benjamin to crash hard into the turnbuckle. RVD followed up with a huge spin kick that floored the former All-American. The Whole F'n Show tried to capitalize on this, going for the split-legged moonsault. However, as RVD went to leap, his foot got caught on Benjamin's arm, causing him to lose a lot of his momentum. RVD barely got his legs up on the top rope, and when the ropes bounced him back, it bounced him straight on his head and neck. RVD was obviously hurt as he held his neck in pain, but he showed a lot of guts to finish the match. He caught Benjamin with a weak leg drop before heading to the top rope and hitting a protected Five Star Frog Splash to get the three count.

Rob Van Dam pinned Shelton Benjamin with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:10:25.
Rob Van Dam suffered a neck injury. He will be out for approximately one year.
Rating: *** 1/4

RVD had won, but he was in bad shape as referee Jimmy Appleseed checked on RVD. At this point, the show went off the air. However, we now have an update on Rob Van Dam's condition. The years of wrestling a high impact style, including taking many falls on his head and neck has wore down RVD's vertebrae. The botched split-legged moonsault was merely the final straw. Van Dam is scheduled to get neck fusion surgery as soon as possible and will be out somewhere around a year. Rob Van Dam was starting to come into his own, but his health is obviously the most important thing. We wish RVD a speedy recovery and hope he can come back as strong as ever.

CRAP! Poor Van Dam. Mind you, as gutting as it is when someone gets injured for that long, I always find myself with some of the best angles transpiring from comebacks. Still though, damn...
