Match #1
Rob Conway/Nick Dinsmore vs. Hardcore Holly/Perry Saturn
Tag team action kicked of this week's edition of High Voltage as the experienced team of Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore took on the brand new team of Hardcore Holly and Perry Saturn. If you'll remember two weeks ago, Rob Conway upset Hardcore Holly in a singles match on High Voltage and was looking to get that win back in tag action, recruiting Perry Saturn to be his partner. Unfortunately for Holly, Conway and Dinsmore are far too experienced and refined as a team. Holly and Saturn are good individually, but it often takes awhile to develop the proper team chemistry to be successful. What resulted was a relatively easy victory for Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore.Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore defeated Hardcore Holly and Perry Saturn when Conway pinned H. Holly after a Thesz press in 0:08:01.
Rating: ***

Conway and Dinsmore are looking to get back into contention for the World Tag Team Titles, and victories like this are the way to go about it.

Match #2
"The Alpha Male" Monty Brown vs. Matt Stryker
Monty Brown was in action up next as he took on Matt Stryker. Stryker is not under contract to Global Championship Wrestling, but you have to think that a victory over Monty Brown would certainly warrant a second look by President Ryan Niemiller. Stryker had that same idea, coming out of this one fast, but Brown would soon tire of Stryker and put the hurting on him. After a few minutes of receiving a beating, Stryker fell victim to the Pounce and that was that.

Monty Brown pinned Matt Stryker with the Pounce in 0:05:20.
Rating: ** 1/2

A nice win for Monty Brown, who seems to be on a collision course with Sean O'Haire. When these two powerful men hook up, it's going to be brutal.

Match #3
MAIN EVENT
6-man Elimination Match
Winner is entered into Number-One Contender Match for the Cruiserweight Title on 8/2/04
Participants: The Amazing Red, Low-Ki, Chavo Guerrero Jr., "Primetime" Elix Skipper, The Hurricane, Billy Kidman
The main event on High Voltage was a big one as six of the top cruiserweights in GCW competed in an elimination match with the winner being placed in a number-one contender match for the Cruiserweight Title on the August 2nd edition of Monday Night Explosion. As one would expect, the action was fast and furious.

It didn't take long for the first elimination to happen. Chavo Guerrero Jr. hasn't had a ton of success in GCW, but he is an experienced veteran and has held championships before. He showed early in this match that he is still a force to be reckoned with as he caught The Amazing Red with a picture perfect Northern Lights suplex and he held the Brooklyn native's shoulders to the mat just long enough, eliminating Red from the match. Chavo's run would end a few minutes after that though as he would be eliminated in a similar fashion, getting caught from behind by Elix Skipper with a German suplex that sent him to the locker room.

There were four men remaining at this point, and it almost became a tag team match as two of those men left were Low-Ki and Elix Skipper, who are both members of Triple X. The Hurricane and Billy Kidman aren't a team, but they knew if either of them wanted the chance to win, they were going to have to work together to combat Triple X. That strategy would prove to be a good one initially, as they withstood the double team onslaughts of Low-Ki and Skipper. Eventually, Kidman ducked under Low-Ki and sent him flying to the outside when Ki went for a Tidal Wave in the corner, leaving Skipper in the ring. Kidman caught Skipper in the face with a dropkick right into a crucifix from The Hurricane, eliminating him from the contest!

Low-Ki was in a bad way now, being outnumbered, but Low-Ki is a former Cruiserweight champion and he wants to get that title back in a bad way, and he wrestled like that in the final minutes of this matchup. Low-Ki was able to bide his time and got The Hurricane and Kidman to turn on each other in an attempt to win the match. Low-Ki played possum, laying on the outside of the ring for a bit as Kidman and The Hurricane went at it. Eventually, the Man In Green caught Kidman with the Eye of the Hurricane, which was when Low-Ki made his move. As The Hurricane made the cover, Low-Ki was in the ring and he blasted The Hurricane in he head with a brutal kick, knocking the superhero loopy. Low-Ki picked him up and hit a beautiful brain buster and just like that, The Hurricane was out. Kidman was still suffering the effects from the Eye of the Hurricane, and Low-Ki took advantage, hitting Kidman with the Ki Crusher and with that, Low-Ki was the winner.

Low-Ki won a 6-man Battle Royal:
x Chavo Jr. defeated Red after a Northern Lights suplex in 0:02:34
x Skipper defeated Chavo Jr. after a German suplex in 0:07:28
x Hurricane defeated Skipper after a crucifix in 0:12:23
x Low-Ki defeated Hurricane after a brain buster in 0:15:59
x Low-Ki defeated Kidman after the Ki Crusher in 0:16:47
Rating: **** 1/4

Low-Ki wrestled an incredibly intelligent match, and because of it, has earned himself a spot in the number-one contender match. We have learned that the second man in the match will be one selected by the Cruiserweight champion Rey Mysterio Jr., but if Low-Ki wrestles like he did tonight, you have to like his chances.

Well, the thing that intrigues me most about the next show is the Doug Williams debut. Plenty of hype has gone into him, hence my interest, but of course the real test is how he's handled on the shows.

And may I make an early prediction - Lance Storm wins his next shot at Randy Orton for the title. I'm calling it here and I'm calling it now. Pity though, I was hoping for a 6 year reign...
