New Era Wrestling

Well I have moved away to school and shifted TNM to my dorm computer. One thing that I didn't remember to take was the circuits I had been running. So I will start a New Era of circuits. New Era Wrestling is a company funded by a mysterious business tycoon who wants to bring down Vince McMahon's evil empire. Hiring ten wrestlers from around the globe New Era Wrestling will have 3 major titles. NEW World Title, NEW Television Title, and the NEW Tag Team Titles. The beginning roster was 5 faces and 5 heels.

Faces
Charlie Haas
Chris Jericho
Lance Storm
Shawn Michaels
and Teddy Hart

Heels
Eddie Guerrero
Kurt Angle
Petey Williams
Rob Conway
and Steve Bradley

The First card should be posted soon. Plus more talent will be signed by using the "m" key.

Interesting concept.  The m key can make things a lot of fun as you try to figure out a way to utilize the odd workers it gives you.

I've got to question have three titles already, however.  With a starting roster of ten wrestlers, that's 40% of your roster which will be holding a title.  I hope you space things out well and don't award them immediately, because otherwise things will be very chaotic until you get a larger roster put together.

That brings me to my next point.  How are you planning on using the m key?  Adding a few new wrestlers each month?  Or will you be bringing in a bunch all at once at the beginning and sticking with them until you need to expand?

Finally, will this circuit be booked or unbooked?

I like your starting roster.  I agree with CotD, I hope you space your titles out a wee bit (unless you bring a mass of new 'M' Key workers right away to beef up the roster)  I'm not familiar with Steve Bradley or Teddy Hart, but you look to have put some entertaining guys together.  Will your circuit be running a show a week? (TNM time of course)  Can't wait to see what happens.

Oh and for being backed by a mysterious person that wants to take McMahon out you managed to get some pretty big names jump ship... and hey, you'll already be better off than Smackdown! ;) lol

I definitely plan on spacing things out. In the first card I am going to bring in 4 mystery tag teams to establish a tag team division.  I will bring in other wrestlers using the m key as I need them. I will have the first card posted sometime after my rugby game this weekend.

Just as a cautionary note...I have been trying to do this type of circut with a 10 person starting roster and then using the m key to bring in new talent...but I find myself off put by a lot of the choices it makes for me. Just something to keep in mind.

It can be difficult, but it can also make for an interesting promotion.  For example, all of NDW's roster was picked at one time or another with the "m" key.  I chose my starting roster by generating a list of random wrestlers.  And Rick's rules usually have you bring in new guys with the "m" key.  In places I have a choice, I go back to a list I picked randomly.

While doing this has given me guys like Ahmed Johnson, it's also given me America's Most Wanted and Bob Sapp, and led me to make a huge star out of Matt Hardy.  I'd reccomend at least trying this approach to almost anyone, because it takes you away from the guys you use every time you run a circuit and forces you to make some tough choices.

I personally find it's more fun when your roster is completely random.  It can make things very creative and original.  Especially when you go so far as to predetermine if your faces and heels before you even know who it is.  (Like opening a test fed and running a bunch of m key matches where the first wrestler is the face and the second the heel).  I've ended up with some interesting rosters this way.  Ricky Steamboat as a heel, the Iron Sheik as a face, Jim Duggan as a heel, ect. ect. (obviously some old school examples)
