Cerberos's Smackdown 9/16/04

cerberosPosted on 09/18/04 at 03:20:21

Sorry for being late on the show, my computer took a crap on me so I lost everything.  Hopefully I kept with the storylines and didn't screw anything over ;)  Anyway on with SMACKDOWN!!

================================

Smackdown comes on the air and we see footage of Raw's Unforgiven.  We see that Shawn Michaels helped screw Triple H out of the WWE Title.  We also see Batista become the new IC Champion and Rhyno and Tajiri retain their titles over the team of Eugene and William Regal.  We then go straight to Paul Heyman's office.

Heyman:  Well this is a special edition of Smackdown.  The reason it is special is because we are going to blow those idiots over on Raw out of the water.  Tonight I have a HUGE surprise and also I am announcing the biggest main event in the history of Paul Heyman's Smackdown as the Title will be on the line.  Kurt Angle will be facing THE BIG SHOW!   Bischoff, watch and learn how a real show is run.

We then go out to the ring where former champion Eddie Guerrero is facing off with Mark Jindrak.

Mark Jindrak returned to Smackdown with a tough opponent.  Eddie controlled most of the match.  He was set to hit his Frog Splash when out came John Cena.  Cena has gone back to his gangsta style dress.  He rapped about Eddie stealing things, lying, including about his sexual preference, and about cheating, including on his wife with a male midget.  This allowed Jindrak to recover.  He dropped Eddie from the top rope and then hit his Mark of Excellence for the huge upset.

Mark Jindrak pinned Eddie Guerrero with the Mark of Excellence in 0:04:36.
Rating: ** 1/4
(John Cena interfered against Eddie Guerrero.)

After the match Jindrak and Cena beat on Eddie for a few minutes and then left as officials checked on Eddie.

BREAK

After the break we see two more returns to Smackdown as Orlando Jordan took on Rikishi.  This was a quick match as Rikishi missed a reverse splash and OJ rolled him up for the upset.

Orlando Jordan pinned Rikishi with a roll up in 0:01:44.
Rating: 3/4*

Josh Mathews then attempted to interview Rikishi.

Josh:  Rikishi, you finally return to Smackdown only to get upset by Orlando Jordan.  That has to almost be laughable for you.

Rikishi:  Laughable?  LAUGHABLE!

Rikishi hits a sudden thrust kick that nearly takes Josh's head off.  He then gives him his sitout piledriver followed by the Bonzai drop.  Finally from the back Josh's broadcast partner Bill DeMott ran out for the save.

In the back we see RVD stretching with the Dudley's, minus Spike, burst in.

Bubba:  What's the deal Rob?  You just left Spike out to dry.

RVD:  Hey chill out Bubba.  We all know that everyone out there can to see the whole damn show, ROB VAN DAM, and I was giving them what they wanted.

D-Von:  If that had been another team in there they would have killed Spike.

RVD:  Oh come on, I would have made the grand save and won it for the team just like I always do.  After all I am everyone's favorite wrestler.

Bubba:  Well we went to Paul and got a match with everyone's favorite wrestler.  Tonight it is RVD against a Dudley!

Break

We come back and we see RVD at ringside with the fans.  Tazz mentions that he has been out there for almost the entire break.  Finally the Dudley's come out and both jump RVD.  He is thrown in the ring and Bubba jumps in.  It is Bubba vs. RVD.  This is an ECW throw back and it is basically under ECW rules.  Nick Patrick allows liberal use of a chair as RVD uses it several times.  The end came when Bubba missed a lariat and RVD hit the Van Daminator.  D-Von jumped on the apron but is kicked off.  RVD then hits the Five Star for the win.

Rob Van Dam pinned Bubba Ray Dudley with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:10:33.
Rating: *** 3/4

In the back we see that Rey Misterio is arriving.  Michael Cole talks about how he has a concussion and shouldn't be here at all.  We see that our next match will be Booker T taking on Mordecai.

BREAK

This is a short match as Booker hit his Axe Kick for the win.

Booker T pinned Mordecai with the Axe Kick in 0:01:10.
Rating: **

After the match the arena is plunged into darkness.  The lights come up and The Undertaker is standing there with both Booker and Mordecai ready for chokeslams.  Taker releases Mordecai and chokeslams Booker.  From the back out runs Charlie Haas and Rico but right behind them are Hardcore Holly, Billy Gunn and Rikishi.  Haas and Rico are over powered as well.  Taker gives Haas a Last Ride while Rico is given an Alabama Slam.  Booker is then given a tombstone.  We go to break with pure carnage in the ring.

BREAK

We come back and see that during the break Booker T and Rico were helped to the back.  In the ring Charlie Haas is getting to his feet.  Miss Jackie is there helping him.  The stock bell sounds as JBL comes out.  Haas isn't in any shape to defend his title but the match goes on.  JBL takes no time to hit his Clothesline from Hell for the win and the Title.

John Bradshaw Layfield pinned Charlie Haas with the Clothesline From Hell in           0:03:34.
Rating: *
(John "Bradshaw" Layfield won the WWE US Title.)

JBL:  Glory days are here again!  You now have a champion you can respect.  Next to President Bush I am the greatest Texan EVER!

Voice:  Excuse me...EXCUSE ME!

JBL and the camera both look and we see GM Paul Heyman coming out.

Heyman:  It is funny you should bring up people from Texas.  John, if you didn't see at the top of the show, I have a huge announcement.  Well I hate to rain on your parade but, well, I want to introduce a true Texas icon.

JBL:  What are you talking about?  I am already here and the only Texan worth talking about in the WWE.  Hell the Guerrero's don't matter...there isn't anyone else.

Heyman:  Well there is John.  I want to give you all the newest Smackdown superstar...HBK himself SHAWN MICHAELS!!

Shawn comes out.

JBL:  How dare you.  You can't come in here and rain on my parade Shawn.  You are a has been!  You are NOTHING!

The whole time Shawn is just coming to the ring with a mic in hand.

Shawn:  Hey John, congrats, you are really doing good here on Smackdown.  Listen I just wanted to come out and tell all of the Smackdown fans why I am here.

JBL:  Well that is too bad.

JBL hits a sudden right hand.  He then runs into the ropes for the Clothesline from hell but instead gets hit with Sweet Chin Music.  JBL goes flying from the ring.

Shawn:  Now I am here for one reason, and that is to become the WWE World Champion one more time.  When I signed my contract I was told that at No Mercy it will be Shawn Michaels against the WWE Champion so Kurt Angle or Big Show, you are looking at your future!

We go to break with a shot of JBL knocked out on the floor.

BREAK

We come back and we see that Rey Misterio has come to the announce booth.  We also see that his face was exposed last week.  In the clip it is blurred out.  Tazz and Rey talk about how it can ruin a career in Mexico to take off the mask.  Chavo and Matt came out during the conversation.  This was a quick match as Rey suddenly jumped up and nailed Matt with a chair shot.

Matt Cappotelli defeated Chavo Guerrero by disqualification in 0:01:07.
Rating: 3/4*
(Matt Cappotelli retained the WWE Cruiserweight Title.)
[Rey Misterio interfered against Matt Cappotelli.]

Rey completely snapped destroying the chair on Matt.  Chavo quickly bailed and watched from ringside.  Rey finally hit a springboard legdrop on the chair before grabbing the mic.

Rey:  YOU RUINED MY CAREER!  I can NEVER wrestle in my native country again.  I will make you pay for that by personally ruin your career.

At this point Matt has crawled over and is grabbing Rey's leg.

Rey:  Look at you, you aren't a real wrestler.  You got into this business thanks to some dumb show.  You make me sick.

Rey spits on Matt and leaves with Chavo looking shocked.  We go to break with Matt trying to help himself up with the ropes.

BREAK

We come back and we see Kurt Angle and Luther with Bill DeMott.

DeMott:  Kurt, earlier tonight we learned that the winner of your match with The Big Show tonight will face off with Smackdown's newest wrestler, HBK, Shawn Michaels.

Angle:  Bill, you were once a wrestler, not at my level but still, and do you think it is fair?  Shawn hasn't proved himself here on Smackdown.  I mean he may have beat those chumps over on Raw but that doesn't take much.  I don't think it is fair.  But Shawn won't be around long because after I defeat the Big Show I will beat him.

DeMott:  One more question Kurt.  What do you think of the return of the Undertaker.  Most people didn't think he would be back yet after you and Luther beat him up last week.

Suddenly Luther lunges into the shot.  We see that he has been attacked from behind by The Undertaker.  Taker picks Luther up and gives him a chokeslam while we see Kurt scramble off.  Taker is about to give Luther a tombstone when DeMott pulls him off Taker's shoulder.  DeMott and Taker go nose to nose but Taker just walks off but not before spitting on Luther.

BREAK

We come back and we see that Angle is at ringside watching the ramp.  We are reminded that the Dead Man just destroyed Luther.  Next out comes the Big Show.  Angle and Show had a good match.  Angle once again took a decent match and made it an excellent match.  Show threw Angle around most of the match.  The end came when Show missed a big boot in the corner.  Angle quickly hit an Angle Slam which shook the ring and possibly the building.  He then locked in the Ankle Lock.  Show fought it but finally passed out.

Kurt Angle defeated The Big Show when The Big Show passed out in the Ankle Lock in 0:12:09.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Kurt Angle retained the WWE World Title.)

We go off the air with a shot of Shawn Michaels walking to the ring.

Ha, it's not every day you see someone interfere by rapping against someone. Is this leading to some sort of Cena/Jindrak team? Jindrak certainly couldn't work out worse than Bē.

Speaking of possible new teams forming, was that a hint at a Mordecai/Undertaker union there? I always thought Mordecai, the character at least, had (and still has if and when they call him back up) a lot of potential.

Well not to let too much out of the bag, I think it is POSSIBLE to see a Jindrak/Cena team.  As for Mordecai/Taker, that isn't in the cards at the moment.  Just happens to be he was in the match that Taker interfered against.....but that doesn't mean it won't happen in the future  ;)
