Vague thread titles

Fighter_HayabusaPosted on 09/16/05 at 16:36:59

Hi guys,

I don't mean to be rude or presumptuous, but could we please, as a community, police ourselves better regarding vague thread titles?  I'm a longtime lurker and don't post a whole lot, but it's really annoying to see a bunch of threads called "another problem I'm having" or something of that nature.

To appeal to your pragmatic side: a lot of folks (like me!)are probably ignoring your thread and choosing not to help you because the title of your thread is vague and they don't want to bother to open it.

Thanks!   :)

I have to disagree with you and say that I read any of the posts. I don't really care about the title. It isn't like I am an in a hurry while I am on here and get pissed off when I read something that doesn't relate to my needs. But, like yours was, that is just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.  And if you don't want to read my posts, that's fine.  Others seem to be less worried it than you are, and help me out without complaint.

It would be more helpful if we titled the posts with the issues at hand, ie. "Error 62" or "Program too big for memory"- at least that might help improve how quickly you get a useful response. I don't have time to read every post, but I do read the ones related to problems I have personally had in the past (or problems I'm having now)- so I'd be one more person more likely to respond _if_ the subject is immediately apparent. But if ya don't want my help, that's fine, too!!! :)

I agree with Fighter_Hayabusa. I generally check out the forums 2-3 times per week, and I look for two things: threads that look interesting, and threads where I might be able to provide assistance. I won't read threads where the title is just "Error" or "Problem" or the like, because, frankly, I don't have that kind of time.
