[GCW] Chaos Reigns - 7/18/04

Snabbit888Posted on 09/17/04 at 01:01:35

What a huge night we had on tap here in Atlanta, Georgia! Eight huge matches would be had tonight, as GCW presented Chaos Reigns! With five championships on the line, you knew that things had the potential to explode! We had a packed house, the fans were ready, the wrestlers were ready, and we started off right away with the Cruiserweight Title Match!

Match #1
Cruiserweight Title Match
Rey Mysterio Jr. (c) vs. The Hurricane vs. Teddy Hart vs. "Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels
It's always a good idea to kick of a pay-per-view with a bang, and that's exactly what happened here with the Cruiserweight Title on the line in an elimination Fatal Fourway Match. A Four Corners match such as this is exciting, but is often viewed as being unfair to the champion, who in essence loses the championship advantage. That was just fine as far as Mysterio was concerned, however, as Rey is not one to ever make excuses. Mysterio came right into this one at full speed, dominating the early moments of the match. The Hurricane and he formed a temporary alliance early, hitting Teddy Hart and Christopher Daniels with a variety of double team moves, such as dropkicks and an impressive double plancha to the floor onto Hart and Daniels.

After a red hot few opening minutes, the match slowed a bit (as slow as these four get, anyway). All four of these men want to be considered the pinnacle of GCW's Cruiserweight division, which is slowly building credibility worldwide. With as high impact and with all the risks these four were taking, we knew it would only be a matter of time before someone crashed and burned, and the first man to do so would be Teddy Hart. Hart was in the ring with Mysterio when he dropped him with a Michinoku Driver. Hart climbed to the top rope, presumably for the Open Hart Surgery, when The Hurricane, who was on the apron, started shaking the ropes! Hart lost his balance and crashed to the mat. Mysterio got up and hit the West Coast Pop, eliminating Teddy Hart from the contest!

The Hurricane had gotten the better of Hart, and he tried to do the same with Mysterio, running in and rolling the reigning champion up, but Mysterio kicked out at 2. After a few quick exchanges between these two masked fan favorites, Christopher Daniels tagged himself in when Mysterio hit the ropes. The Fallen Angel got in the ring and to say that he brutalized The Hurricane would be an understatement. Daniels has a tremendous meanstreak to him, and showed that he's not simply all weird rituals. Daniels got several nearfalls on The Hurricane via some high impact offense. Daniels is more of a power-based wrestler than high-flying, and it was a very successful strategy. However, in wrestling, one mistake can be all the difference, and that was the case here. Daniels had The Hurricane set up for the Angel's Wings, but the Man In Green slipped out of it and brought the Fallen Angel down with a double-leg takedown. The Hurricane catapulted Daniels hard into the turnbuckle with a slingshot. As Daniels stumbled out, The Hurricane hit him with a jumping clothesline, and that was just barely enough to hold Daniels down for the 3 count.

Daniels was dazed, but he couldn't believe that he had just been pinned! Daniels clocked The Hurricane with a kick to the head, before nailing him with the Angel's Wings. Daniels showed what a poor loser he was by laying The Hurricane out. Mysterio probably could have finished The Hurricane off right there, but he didn't, allowing The Hurricane to regain his bearings, showing a tremendous amount of sportsmanship. It almost cost him in the end though, as after some back and forth exchanges, The Hurricane hit the Eye of the Hurricane out of nowhere and got a 2 and 9/10 count. The Hurricane could believe that he didn't get the 3 count, but replays showed Mysterio just got his shoulder up in time. The Hurricane called for the choke slam and goozled Mysterio, but the Cruiserweight champion had the presence of mind to hit a drop toehold on the Man In Green, hanging him on the middle rope. The crowd came to its feet as Mysterio called for and connected with the 6-1-9. Moments later, Mysterio flew through the air and hit the West Coast Pop and kept the Cruiserweight Title in tow.

Four Corners Match:
Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated Christopher Daniels, Teddy Hart and The Hurricane:
x Mysterio Jr. beat Teddy Hart via the West Coast Pop in 0:10:13
x Hurricane beat Daniels via a jumping clothesline in 0:15:40
x Mysterio Jr. beat Hurricane via the West Coast Pop in 0:21:28
Rating: **** 1/4
(Rey Mysterio Jr. retained the GCW Cruiserweight Title.)

Rey Mysterio Jr. had the odds against him, but he showed his winning spirit by defeating three men in a great match to retain the Cruiserweight Title. After the match, The Hurricane offered a handshake, which Mysterio accepted. Both men got a great round of applause for their part in this great opening matchup.

Match #2
Billy Kidman vs. Eric Angle
If Eric Angle wanted respect, he was going to have to earn it against Billy Kidman. Angle got the better of Kidman in some early exchanges, using his superior mat skills to get the better of Kidman. Angle's arrogance started to get the better of him though, as he was obviously underestimating Kidman. Angle has shown that if he is wrestling a high flyer, he will try to show that he can do their game better, and he tried that again tonight as he went up top for a moonsault. Kidman wasn't nearly wore down enough for that though as he rolled out of the way. Kidman got his second wind, firing up on Angle with right hands, an enziguiri, and hitting the BK Bomb for a nearfall. Kidman would make the same mistake as Angle, going to the top rope before his opponent was incapacitated enough. Angle saw Kidman up top, exploded to the corner and threw Kidman off the top. Angle stopped messing around at this point and hit the Angle Slam on Kidman, and picked up a much tougher victory than he anticipated.

Eric Angle pinned Billy Kidman with the Angle Slam in 0:07:50.
Rating: *** 3/4

Eric Angle keeps his undefeated streak alive, but if it's going to continue, he had better stick to business and not try to get cute like he did tonight. Regardless, a great effort by Billy Kidman, who took him to the limit.

[In the locker room of Goldust. The room is dimly lit with candles. In the middle of a group of candles is a picture of Booker T. It's almost as if Goldust has set up a shrine.]

G: Oh Booker, once you win the World Heavyweight Title tonight, we will live in...

[Just then, Booker T bursts into the room.]

BT: Yo Goldie, we gotta... [Notices the shrine] What the!? Man, what the hell is this!?

G: It's um... er... um... it's nothing!

[Goldust quickly tries to blow out the candles but is having a hard time doing so. Booker T turns on the lights in the room.]

BT: Man, this is SICK. What's the matter with you? Listen, this stuff has gotta stop, sucka. You come out durin' my matches, wearing a Booker T t-shirt, now you're lighting candles and worshippin' me like some sick FREAK.

G: I'm just trying to show that I care! Booker, you can't deny the chemistry we have! It's meant to be!

BT: Chemistry? What have you been smokin', dog!? We ain't got no chemistry. We ain't even friends! And with sick stuff like this, I'm glad that we ain't!

G: But I put a lot of work into this shrine! I made those candles myself!

BT: Tell me you didn't just say that! Look, I don't care, sucka! All I care about is becoming the World Heavyweight champion tonight, foo'! So you keep to yourself, and stop this stuff. Now can you dig it?

G: Um... can I... what?

BT: I said... CAN YOU DIG IT!?

G: Um... yes?

[Booker gets right in Goldust's face.]

BT: Sucka.

[Booker T leaves in a hurry. Goldust stops and shivers with a smile on his face.]

G: He's so cute when he's angry.

[Cut back to the ring.]

Match #3
Hardcore Invitational
Participants: Hardcore Holly, Tommy Dreamer, Monty Brown, Sean O'Haire, Rob Van Dam, Goldust, Low-Ki, Perry Saturn
Hardcore Holly wanted to see who was hardcore, and he certainly got his wish. There was even a trophy at ringside to be awarded to the winner. This match was brutal. This was pure chaos as eight men with everything at their disposal just tore into each other. The amazing thing about this match was that there were no alliances formed at all. All eight of these men saw the other seven as individuals in the way of a victory.

This match was wild with all of the wrestlers taking full advantage of the no-DQ rules, using whatever they could get their hands on as a weapon. Goldust would be the first man to be sent to the back after Tommy Dreamer hit him with a swinging neckbreaker on a chair. Not a good night for Goldust so far. Hardcore Holly would be the next man to go, which can't be good for his pride. He's the one that formed this Hardcore Invitational, and he was the second man eliminated from it. Holly was fighting with Rob Van Dam when Dreamer came out of nowhere and blasted him in the skull with a kendo stick. Holly crumbled to his hands and knees, allowing RVD to execute a Victory Roll and dwindle the field to six. Yes, in a Hardcore Invitational, someone was pinned with a Victory Roll.

The Innovator of Violence was in his element in this match, as he made his career being hardcore. Dreamer continued his streak of brutality, but he got an unexpected assist from Sean O'Haire. Low-Ki was pummeling Dreamer in the corner with vicious kicks when O'Haire absolutely destroyed Low-Ki with a steel chair in the back! In theory, O'Haire and Low-Ki should be on the same page, each having an alliance with Christopher Daniels, but that obviously wasn't the case in this one. Dreamer took advantage, dropping Low-Ki with the Dreamer DDT, eliminating him from the competition. Dreamer was a little worse for wear though as many of Low-Ki's kicks had blasted him in the arms and shoulders, since Dreamer was obviously trying to block the blows. Perry Saturn took this opportunity to catch Dreamer in the Rings of Saturn. Dreamer tried to hold on, being the tough guy that he is, but he had taken an awful lot of punishment already and thus, he submitted.

We were down to just four men now: Perry Saturn, Monty Brown, Sean O'Haire, and Rob Van Dam. Up until this point, Brown and O'Haire had mostly kept their distance. They don't like each other at all, and for much of this match, it was as if they were wanting to weed everyne else out slowly so that they could go at it tooth and nail at the end. That would change here though in an amazing quick exchange that brought this match to a close. Monty Brown had paired off with Saturn while O'Haire and RVD went at it. O'Haire put RVD down with a huge clothesline and then reached into his tights, pulling out a pair of brass knuckles, which were 100% legal in this match. While this was happening, Monty Brown had Saturn set up for the Pounce. Brown hit the ropes, but O'Haire interjected himself and waffled Brown right between the eyes with the knux, knocking him out cold! Saturn hit Brown with a Northern Light suplex and got an easy three count. His celebration didn't take long though as RVD was up and caught Saturn with a crucifix, and Saturn was eliminated! RVD started to point to himself in a show of pure arrogance, but that was quickly squashed as O'Haire grabbed him and hit a huge powerslam. Three seconds later, and Sean O'Haire had survived the Hardcore Invitational.

Sean O'Haire won an 8-man Hardcore Invitational:
x Dreamer defeated Goldust after a swinging neckbreaker in 0:04:16
x RVD defeated H. Holly after a Victory Roll in 0:05:16
x Dreamer defeated Low-Ki after the Dreamer DDT in 0:10:16
x Saturn defeated Dreamer after the Rings of Saturn in 0:12:11
x Saturn defeated M. Brown after a Northern Lights suplex in 0:14:19
x RVD defeated Saturn after a crucifix in 0:14:22
x O'Haire defeated RVD after a powerslam in 0:14:32
Rating: *** 3/4

We thought this one would be violent, and it did not disappoint. Sean O'Haire took his licks (he had a nice cut opened up above his left eye during the match) but he survived and took the victory, which has to make Christopher Daniels happy. We have since learned that due to O'Haire's win tonight, in addition to his recent success, he has been granted a Television Title shot tomorrow night on Explosion against either AJ Styles or Steve Bradley, depending on the outcome of the match later on in the evening.

Match #4
Television Title Match
"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles (c) vs. Steve "Who's Your Daddy?" Bradley
AJ Styles certainly had the odds against him in this one. Steve Bradley can be cocky, but ever since losing to Lance Storm at Super Cade last month, Bradley has been absolutely vicious. He has also introduced a friend of his into GCW, a black baseball bat he calls "Mofo." For the better part of this match, Bradley punished Styles, hitting him with high impact move after high impact move. Styles has been riding a wave of momentum though, including getting a pinfall victory over World Heavyweight champion Chris Benoit in a non-title match last Monday on Explosion. Styles wasn't about to back down and kept fighting his way back into the match. But every time that Styles would fight back and get Bradley reeling, the Baddest Mofo On The Show would hit a power move and regain the advantage.

Bradley started to become frustrated though as he kept punishing Styles, but the Phenomenal One kept fighting back. Eventually, Bradley didn't seem to care about winning the title anymore as his frustration was getting the better of him. Bradley put Styles down with a spinebuster and after getting a close nearfall, he lost it and went to the outside of the ring and grabbed his black baseball bat. Bradley brought it back into the ring, but referee Petey Pluck interjected and tried to convince Bradley to put it down, to no avail. Bradley brought the bat up to nail Styles in the back, but out of sheer desperation, Styles caught Bradley with a low blow. Knowing his window wouldn't be large, Styles hit the Styles Clash on Steve Bradley, and managed to steal a win in Atlanta, Georgia.

AJ Styles pinned Steve Bradley with the Styles Clash in 0:09:13.
Rating: **** 1/4
(AJ Styles retained the GCW Television Title.)

It took a lot of luck and he had to receive quite a beating, but AJ Styles once again proved that he isn't a flash in the pan by beating a mean Steve Bradley. Styles made the mistake of overstepping his bounds after the match, getting in Bradley's face while he was on the mat and taunting him with the Television Title. Bradley absolutely lost it, grabbing Styles in a chokehold as he got to his feet. Bradley then dropped Styles with a power bomb. As a groggy Styles slowly managed to get to his feet, Bradley picked up the Television Title, loaded up, and smacked Styles in the face with it, busting the champion wide open. Bradley wasn't done though, as he tossed Styles to the floor. Officials came down to stop Bradley, but it was almost as if he was in a trance, even shoving one official to the floor! Bradley put Styles in a standing headscissors, hoisted him up, and sent him crashing through the announce table, breaking it in half! Bradley finally left at this point, but the damage had been done. Medical personnel came out and assisted Styles, who was heavily favoring his ribs. AJ Styles may have won the match, but he didn't look like much of a winner, that's for sure.

Match #5
North American Title Match
Randy Orton (c) vs. Lance Storm
Lance Storm had a huge opportunity here as he challenged Randy Orton for the North American Title. This all started after Orton not once, but twice harassed Storm's longtime friend Dawn Marie, and Storm did the right thing by coming to her aid. The match itself was a good one. Randy Orton is one of the most highly touted wrestlers to come along in a long time, being a third generation superstar and already garnering much success. Lance Storm is a veteran though, and a wise one at that. Storm is known as being one of the best technicians in the business, and he knows how to work a man over, and he worked Orton over to perfection tonight.

Both men had very sound strategies in this one. Storm focused his attack on the left arm of Orton, hoping that if he could take out the arm, it would eliminate Orton's dangerous R.K.O. from the picture. Orton, on the other hand, worked on the ribs of Storm, trying to take away his wind so that he could take the stamina advantage. Both men were able to employ their strategies, but it would be a third party that would be the deciding factor in this one. About halfway through this contest, Dawn Marie made her way down to ringside, just as Randy Orton had invited her to do last Monday. She was a spectator for most of the match until the end, but it was Orton's doing. Orton had just put Storm down with an inverted headlock backbreaker, but rather than go for a cover, he reached outside of the ring and grabbed Dawn Marie by the hair, forcing her up onto the apron. After verbally harassing her, Storm had gotten back to his feet behind Orton. Dawn Marie didn't know this, as she took a swing at Orton, but Orton ducked and Marie hit Storm instead! Marie jumped off the apron, distraught at what just happened. The slap wasn't hard, but it was enough to distract Storm, and that distraction was all Orton needed to hit the R.K.O. and retain the North American Title.

Randy Orton pinned Lance Storm with the R.K.O. in 0:15:15.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Randy Orton retained the GCW North American Title.)

Orton celebrated for a bit before heading to the back. Dawn Marie was visibly upset with what transpired, getting in the ring and apologizing to Lance Storm for what happened. Storm was upset as well, but he assured Dawn Marie that he wasn't mad at her. Storm and Marie left together to a round of applause.

Match #6
World Tag Team Title Match
The World's Greatest Tag Team (c) vs. The Basham Brothers
The two premiere tag teams in Global Championship Wrestling squared off for the richest prize in tag team wrestling, the World Tag Team Titles. There was certainly no love lost in this one, as both teams went at each other in a very intense match. Usually these two teams wrestle very crisp and technical matches, but there is so much emotion built up that this turned into more of a fight. A fight that became all the more interesting when Shaniqua, the former manager of the Bashams, came down to ringside.

Although Shaniqua is not officially with Shelton Benjamin and the World's Greatest Tag Team, it was obvious who she was rooting for in this one. Shaniqua gave Benjamin a lot of moral support, but any time Charlie Haas was in the ring, even though Shaniqua wanted the Bashams to lose, she was very quiet. Haas seemed to be distracted by Shaniqua's presence, obviously upset that she hasn't heeded his warnings to stay away. By the end of this match, Haas was definitely wishing Shaniqua had stayed away, as she factored into the decision.

Late in the contest when the Bashams had the advantage on Shelton Benjamin, they had him set up for the Ball & Gag Bomb. Shaniqua jumped into the ring and distracted the Bashams, who dropped Benjamin and closed in on Shaniqua in the corner. Before they could harm her, Benjamin was back up and he fought Doug and Danny off, knocking them both to the canvas. Benjamin asked Shaniqua if she was all right, which she nodded yes. When Benjamin turned back around to face the Bashams, Shaniqua's demeanor changed from scared to vicious, as she nailed Shelton Benjamin with a low blow! Referee JD Sanders didn't see it as he was trying to get one of the Bashams out of the ring. Benjamin was in obvious pain as Shaniqua just smiled evilly. This had all been a setup! Danny Basham followed by nailing Benjamin with a flying forearm and went for the cover. Charlie Haas jumped in the ring to break up the count, but he was cut off by Doug Basham. We have new World Tag Team champions.

The Basham Brothers (Doug Basham and Danny Basham) defeated The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) when Danny Basham pinned S. Benjamin after a flying forearm in 0:08:32.
Rating: ***
(The Basham Brothers won the GCW World Tag Team Titles.)

The Bashams grabbed the World Tag Team Titles, now holding the belts for the second time. Shaniqua looked at the Bashams before the three of them started celebrating, their plan working to perfection. Shaniqua gave both Danny and Doug one good victory whip with the riding crop before the trio headed to the back. Benjamin stumbled to his feet, still feeling the ill effects of the low blow. Haas got in Benjamin's face and started yelling at him, yelling "I told you!" Benjamin tried to apologize, but Haas would have none of it. Benjamin had fallen right into Shaniqua's trap, and Haas knew it. Haas was obviously upset, and with just reason, but what happened next was totally uncalled for. Before heading to the back, Haas slapped Benjamin right across the face! Benjamin was too stunned to retaliate as Haas left the ring to the boos of the crowd. Is this the end of the World's Greatest Tag Team?

["Y2J" Chris Jericho is sitting backstage in his locker room, getting ready to get up and head to the ring for his match when his cell phone rings. Jericho digs through his gym bag and pulls out the phone.]

CJ: Yeah?.... Yeah....... Uh huh... You know, that's not a bad idea, but what's in it for me?........... Hmmmm...... But how are you going to...?...... Ha. Where did you get one of those?.... Hrm... Okay, you got a deal.

[Jericho hangs up the cell phone and puts it back in his bag. Jericho gets up and heads toward the door, but when he gets to it, he slips and falls, letting out a scream. Jericho clutches his knee. Having heard his screams, medical personnel rush to Jericho's aid. Head trainer Bary Tarver speaks to Jericho.]

BT: What happened, Chris? Are you okay?

CJ: I slipped on some water or something and busted my knee. Whoever the janitor is in this building should be fired for his negligence!

BT: Does it hurt when I do this?

[Tarver lightly touches Jericho's knee.]

CJ: OWWW! Don't touch me, assclown! You're making it worse!

BT: Chris, I'm afraid I can't in good judgment let you wrestle tonight.

CJ: What? No! Eduardo Gorilla and Shane Mitchell are going to get a the biggest ass kicking they have EVAH seen!

[Jericho tries to stand up, but he cringes in pain before falling back down.]

BT: Chris, you can't even stand up. You're not going to wrestle tonight and that's final!

CJ: Well, if you say so, Doc.

[Tarver is taken a little aback by Jericho's sudden agreement. Regardless, he starts helping Jericho to his feet as we cut back to the ring.]

Match #7
"Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero vs. "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels
With Chris Jericho's apparent injury prior to the match, what was originally to be a triangle match turned into a singles match between a pair of friends with a lot of hostility building between them, Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels. This wasn't quite the triangle match we expected, but these two ring savvy veterans did not disappoint in the slightest. Watching these two wrestle each other was amazing to see, as over the past few months, they have developed a strong friendship (until recently) and have picked up a lot on how the other wrestles. What this led to was both Guerrero and Michaels having to pull things out of their bag of tricks, having to use moves that their opponent wouldn't have scouted. Michaels doesn't usually take it to the mat as much as he did tonight, and that really threw Guerrero off his game for awhile, as HBK wore him down with armbars, headlocks, and many other chain wrestling moves. Guerrero, on the flip side, had a strength advantage over the Heartbreak Kid, and he used it work on Michaels' infamous injured back, hitting several suplexes and backbreakers in hopes of incapacitating the former North American champion.

There was a lot of pride in this match as neither Guerrero nor Michaels wanted their counterpart to be able to claim they were the better man, which resulted in both men reaching down deep and getting out of many predicaments. Guerrero kicked out of HBK's flying elbowdrop. HBK escaped the Lasso From El Paso. As these two great competitors refused to die, CHRIS JERICHO, who was originally supposed to be in this match, hobbled down to the ring on crutches, but he remained an observer, watching the match he was to be in intently. Late in the match, Michaels had Latino Heat down and called for the Sweet Chin Music, but when he went for it, Guerrero ducked, caught HBK with a boot to the midsection, and dropped him with the Three Amigos. Guerrero went up top and called for the Frog Splash when Jericho got close to Guerrero, threatening to hit him with one of the crutches. Referee Antonio Santangelo got involved, getting on the ring apron and demanding that Jericho leave the ringside area. While Santangelo had his back turned, a masked man ran out from the crowd, shoving Guerrero off the turnbuckle and hard to the canvas. Upon closer inspection, we saw that the masked man was wearing an old Black Tiger mask! Black Tiger was the gimmick that Eddie Guerrero used while wrestling in Japan several years ago, and now a man duplicating him had just attacked him. Michaels was out at the time and didn't see the Black Tiger attack, so when he got up and hit Guerrero with the Sweet Chin Music, he didn't realize he had gotten an unwanted assist.

Shawn Michaels pinned Eddie Guerrero with the Sweet Chin Music in 0:19:07.
Rating: *** 3/4

After the three had been counted, the Black Tiger jumped in the ring and started hitting Guerrero with right hands, but Shawn Michaels interjected and went to work on the Black Tiger with chops. Michaels hit the ropes, but when he did, he was caught in the back by a crutch courtesy of Chris Jericho! The Heartbreak Kid fell in a heap on the mat, holding his back. Jericho jumped in the ring quickly, showing that his knee wasn't hurt at all! Jericho brought the crutch crashing down on Michaels's back two more times while the Black Tiger hit Eddie Guerrero with a jumping piledriver. Atlanta booed Jericho and this strange masked man out of the building as officials came out to check on the condition of Michaels and Guerrero. The question remains though, who is this Black Tiger, and why did he attack Eddie Guerrero tonight?

[Mario Riviera, GCW interviewer extraordinaire, is standing backstage with GCW World Heavyweight champion "The Crippler" Chris Benoit.]

MR: Chris Benoit, in just a few moments, you will defend the World Heavyweight Title in a Fatal Fourway against Booker T, Kurt Angle, and Brock Lesnar. What are your thoughts going in there knowing that you're defending the title against not one, but three of the top superstars in the world?

CB: Mario, I'm very confident going into this match. I may not have gotten the time to prepare that I would like, but I am always prepared. In wrestling, if you want to be successful, you have to go into every match thinking it could be your last. You have to go in with as much intensity and fire every time, whether you're wrestling in a barn in North Dakota or wrestling in the main event of a major pay-per-view for the World Heavyweight Title. A lot of people think I don't have a chance with these odds tonight. And it's true, all three men are tough. But fact remains, I'm the World Heavyweight champion, not them! I survived Deadly Draw to win this title, and if they want it, they're going to have to pry it away from me! They're going to have to prove me wrong.

MR: Well, good luck tonight, Chris.

CB: Thanks Mario. But I won't need it.

[Benoit leaves as we cut back to the ring.]

Match #8
MAIN EVENT
World Heavyweight Title Match
"The Crippler" Chris Benoit (c) vs. Booker T vs. Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar
We had just one match to go, and it was the big one as the World Heavyweight Title was on the line in Fatal Fourway rules. Chris Benoit was the champion, but his championship advantage was gone with the setup of the rules. The way this match would work was that two wrestlers would be in the ring at a time, and this would be elimination style, meaning that whoever wanted to walk out of here as champion had to outlast three other men to do so. The fans were really into this match, but a lot of this match turned into quite a cluster, which can be expected when you have four competitors all with the same goal in mind. Regardless, it was a momentous match.

It took a considerable amount of time for any man to be eliminated in this one, and I don't think the first elimination would have even happened if it weren't for a timely inadvertent distraction. After over 15 minutes of action, Booker T was on the verge of eliminating Kurt Angle. He had managed to reverse Angle's Angle Slam attempt and nail the Book End. Booker got back to his feet via the Spinaroonie, and looked to be setting up the Axe Kick, when Goldust came down to ringside, once again wearing a Booker T t-shirt! Booker T was livid as Goldust got on the apron with a bouquet of golden roses! Booker T was so upset that he hauled off and nailed Goldust with a forearm, knocking him hard to the floor and sending golden flowers everywhere. It wasn't his intention, but Goldust's inappropriate time to bring Booker flowers allowed Angle to nail Booker with a chopblock. Booker T fell to the canvas, allowing Angle to lock on the Ankle Lock. Angle had it on tight, and for the second time this month, Booker T tapped out to Angle's devastating hold.

We were down to three, and Chris Benoit wanted to make it two as quickly as possible as he jumped in and was all over Angle right away. Benoit simply overwhelmed Angle for the next few minutes, eventually leading to hitting Angle with two German suplex in succession. Benoit went for a third, but Angle reversed it and went for one of his own, but Benoit caught him with a back elbow, reversed wih a go-behind, and hit three more German suplexes! Benoit then did the cut throat motion, signifying that the swandive headbutt was coming up, but he was cut off when Brock Lesnar tagged himself in! Benoit and the fans in Atlanta were both upset with this as Lesnar came in, and scooped Angle up for the F-5. Benoit, however, nailed Lesnar with a dropkick to the knee before leaving the ring, leaving both Angle and Lesnar down on the canvas! Angle used this opportunity to put Lesnar in the Ankle Lock, but the former NCAA champion refused to submit. Lesnar worked himself back up to his feet, and using his leg strength, sent Angle face first into the turnbuckle. Lesnar once again grabbed Angle for the F-5, but Angle slid down and shoved Lesnar into the ropes. As Lesnar hit the ropes, Benoit caught him in the back of the head with a hard shot, causing Lesnar to stumble out. Angle went behind Lesnar and hit a beautiful German suplex, bridged up, and eliminated Brock Lesnar!

We were down to the final two, Kurt Angle and the reigning World champion, Chris Benoit! Kurt Angle looked absolutely exhausted as he had been in the match the past 10 minutes, taking beatings from Booker T, Lesnar, and Benoit, but he had someone managed to eliminate two men. Benoit could feel victory, as he came in a house of fire. Angle begged off, trying to regain his bearings, but the Rabid Wolverine would have none of it. Benoit fired up on Angle with vicious chops in the corner, before sending him to the ropes and plowing through the former Olympic champion with a forearm. Angle tried to fight back with a flailing right hand, but Benoit ducked and caught Angle with the trifecta of German suplexes. The crowd was on its feet as Benoit called for the swandive headbutt, climbed to the top, and connected. All of Atlanta was on its feet as they counted along with referee Jimmy Appleseed for the one, two, thr... kick out! Kurt Angle somehow kicked out! Benoit couldn't believe Angle kicked out, nor could the fans in the arena. Benoit let Angle slowly get to his feet and went for the Crippler Crossface, but Angle fought it off and somehow caught Benoit in a roll-up. Appleseed counted and didn't see Angle put his feet on the ropes. Benoit tried to kick out, but with the added leverage from the ropes, he was unable to. Ladies and gentlemen, Kurt Angle has stolen the World Heavyweight Title.

Kurt Angle defeated Booker T, Brock Lesnar and Chris Benoit:
x K. Angle beat Booker via the Ankle Lock in 0:17:32
x K. Angle beat Lesnar via a German suplex in 0:27:14
x K. Angle beat Benoit via a roll-up in 0:30:47
Rating: *** 1/4
(Kurt Angle won the GCW World Heavyweight Title.)

Angle rolled out of the ring in a hurry, knowing how upset Benoit was going to be. Jimmy Appleseed raised Angle's hand and presented him the World Heavyweight Title as Benoit sat in disbelief in the ring. Angle celebrated as he went up the aisle as if he had just won the gold medal again, while the fans booed him mercilessly. We might not like it how he did it, but Kurt Angle in the brand new World Heavyweight champion.

Holy cow, didn't see Angle winning. Pity, I was doing really well with my predictions (first six right, only got the next one wrong since my pick didn't compete).

Speaking of Jericho, who is the mysterious Black Tiger. I've got a few theories of my own actually.

Finally, nice building going on for Doug Williams, it'll be interesting to see how he's portrayed when he comes in. And can you come round my house and mop up the Coke I spat out following the "I made those candles myself" line. Thank you.

Ha ha.  Well I do work as a janitor, so I'm an experienced moppist.
