Cerberos's Velocity 9/11/04

cerberosPosted on 09/11/04 at 07:45:45

Velocity comes on the air and we are reminded to remember 9/11.  We then go to the ring and see Barry Horowitz has returned this week and is facing JBL in our opening match.  Horowitz looked good and several times had JBL on the run.  Horowitz hit a running high knee that sent JBL to the floor.  Horowitz then went to the floor and that was the beginning of the end.  Horowitz tired to send JBL into the post but it was reversed.  In the ring JBL quickly hit the Clothesline from Hell for the win.

John Bradshaw Layfield pinned Barry Horowitz with the Clothesline From Hell in           0:10:50.
Rating: *** 1/2

BREAK

After the break we see that we were suppose to see Charlie Haas taking on Kenzo Suzuki but Haas was attacked in the back by Mordecai.  We then go to the ring where Mordecai has come out.

Mordecai:  Smackdown is full of sinners.  But one man has sins have gone unnoticed.  That is Charlie Haas.  He is has stolen a man's girlfriend and the fans cheer.  He stole a man's title and people cheered.  Well I am looking to bring the US Title back to holy glory.  Sooner not later Charlie Haas will pay for his sins.

Next out comes Haas's scheduled opponent, Kenzo Suzuki.  This was a sloppy match that the fans hated.  Luckily it was a short match that Mordecai won when Kenzo hit a low blow.

Mordecai defeated Kenzo Suzuki by disqualification in 0:04:35.
Rating: 1/4*

BREAK

Rookie BJ O'Reilly picked up a win over John Cena in what has to be the biggest upset of the year.  Cena hit his F-U on BJ but pulled BJ up.  Nick Patrick warned him about doing it.  Cena shoved Patrick who then called for the bell.

BJ O'Reilly defeated John Cena by disqualification in 0:03:14.
Rating: ** 1/4

Cena completely snapped.  He grabbed Patrick and gave him the F-U.  He then grabbed BJ and gave him another one.  Cena continued the attack until from the back out ran Eddie Guerrero.  Eddie hit a series of rights and Cena ran from the ring.

BREAK

We come back and we see footage of Matt removing Rey Misterio's mask on Smackdown.  We then see Matt coming to the ring to take on Akio.

This was a quick match as Akio missed a flying Legdrop and Matt rolled him up into an inside cradle for the win.

Matt Cappotelli defeated Akio with an inside cradle in 0:02:08.
Rating: 3/4*
(Matt Cappotelli retained the WWE Cruiserweight Title.)

We go off the air with Matt holding the title high.

NOTES:
BJ O'Reilly stats are based on WWE Official and OVW wrestler/official Chris Kay.  I don't think he has ever wrestled, but I came up with the gimmick and his picture fit the bill.

I'm impressed that Horowitz even stretched that out for ten minutes AND had a really good match.
