Compatibility question

I read that Build 4 is supposed to work with XP better...yet, when I installed it, the program constantly lagged, my optical mouse stopped working, and the program in general didn't work as well as past builds.

I'm just wondering what the reason for this could be, since past builds ahve ran better then this.

Did you have ANY other programs open at the time?

If so, try running without them open and see if it works better.  If not, once you get into TNM, turn off the visualizer and see if that helps.

The vizualizer runs very badly while having other applications using Java are open..

Like Rick and Robert said, turning off the Visualizer should help.

The Visualizer is not Java-based, so what Zedja found is an interesting observation and completely new to me :). What do you see happen when the Visualizer and Java-apps are running at the same time?
ZedjaPosted on 08/30/05 at 10:19:09

I've noticed it while running a poker engine (that I think is java-based) that the vizualizer and even TNM freezes up.

I could be wrong though.. But the fact is that when I exited the poker program TNM started working again ;)

I did this on at least 3 occations so I know it wasn't just a one time thing..

Some games on Yahoo (shockwave/flash) also mess things up..

Yahoo games are total memory hogs especially if you are using an older version of java.

Sorry bout not replying sooner.

Last time I tried TNM7, I closed all my active applications beyond one or two...but it still ran funky.

It's weird. When I used to have 256 ram, it ran fine, and it still ran alright with my 700+ ram now...buuut since the update, everytime I've tried to run it, it's ran slow, and jerky, and causes my mouse to act weird too.

I really don't get it.

Anyone know of a free application that run through the background tasks, and sees what does to where? I COULD have too many of those, but without knowing what does what...I close em, and my system goes boom.

Ctrl+Alt+Del

Seriously.  It brings up a Task Manager that tells you how much memory various programs are using and lets you end memory hogs.  It only restarts your computer if you do it a second time.

Not sure if that'd help you with tracking Conventional Memory, though, as that's quite different than RAM.

Another thing which may help is right clicking on TNM.bat, selecting Properties, and making sure that it's in Win95 Compatibility Mode.

If you use Win ME like I do (but not once my new computer is assembled) you won't see the sessions running in the background, only the actual programs.
