Interesting, but I have a question for you.  Why did yuo decide to run this in real time (or 2004 at least) when you're using wrestlers who would he in their positions around 1984?  Why didn't you go back then, because what you have set up I really like, but I'm thrown out of it by seeing 2004 and watching the Iron Sheik wrestling for the WWF title.

Well, when I started this back in '97, I didn't really think about starting the dates 20 years in the past.    I guess I could go back and change all the dates at some point.

The thing is, eras change, but I wont change the wrestlers I'm using.  So, if I were to set this back 20 years, and some how get to 2004, I wouldn't be using Randy Orton, Batista, Steve Corino, etc.  Simply because I can't identify with those guys like I can with the  80's wrestlers.

That looks like a lot of work ;)

Yeah, it started to after a while, with work, baseball, and other stuff piling up.  I couldn't always mess around with it daily.

That's why I reduced the amount of full time promotions to 9,  and run the rest once a month.   It's a little easier now.    Actually, the once a month promotions, I only run title matches, and randomly select who is challenging.

That's the beauty of TNM though, being able to book, say, Wrestlemania 21 and having Triple H face off against Verne Gagne, or whatever floats your boat.

It's just a date and its a fantasy circuit.  Dates are only useful to organize cards.

I don't think so myself.  I get thrown off when I see a circuit with Lou Thesz wrestling in 2025.  I'm a big fan of accurate dates and such, but that's just me.  To each their own.

That's why we all get to have have a copy of TNM, so we can run a circuit exactly as we like. But like you say, each to their own.

Am I to take it, by the way, that you don't like Olivers circuit? His is always one that the general consensus seem to be "perversely entertaining" (or "entertainingly perverse", as I'd describe it), I've never seen anyone stand up and say they don't like it. Maybe we're all too afraid of offending the boss...

I like the writing and how he dealt with things, but I hated guys wrestling into their 70's.  I don't take away that some of these style circuits are very well done.  I'm just a big fan of realism.  That's why I delete wrestlers who pass away.  As much as I would like to use Owen Hart in a circuit as he is one of my all-time favorites, I try to keep things realistic in that sense.

You're entitled to that opinion.  But if we're going to be nitpicky about dates, then we can also be nitpicky about a lot of other things.  Which is unnecessary.  CCoey used to do that a lot and it was a bummer.
Snabbit888Posted on 08/31/04 at 08:13:30

#1, never compare me to Coey. :)

#2, I wasn't being nitpicky.  I was just curious as to why he chose a 2004 start date.  I like what he has... I wasn't bashing him at all for it whatsoever.  I merely stated how I like to do things versus how he likes to do things.  If I'm thrown off by Iron Sheik winning a World Title in 2004, it's justified.  If you're not thrown off, it's also justified.  So, cool out. :)
