Low Ki pinned Eddie Guerrero with the Ki Krusher '99 in 0:09:08.
Rating: ****
(Low Ki retained the Cruiserweight Title.)

Eddie Guerreros win last night was enough to earn him a shot at the
cruiserweight title tonight against Low Ki. On this night, Low Ki was the
better man and recorded the win, only for Eddie to attack afterwards and the
rest of Los Guerreros flocked out to join him. It was Kid Kash who made the
save, evidently with some new found respect for Low Ki after last night and
Los Guerreros didn't bother to hang around. On a side note, after Eddies noted
the confusion between the two Chavos (Snr. and Jr.) last night, Chavo Snr.
is hereby known as Chavo Classic. How original...

Devon Storm pinned Chris Benoit with the Thunderclap Brainbuster in 0:14:14.
Rating: ****

Chris Benoit is NOT a happy camper right now. Bringing out Masato Tanaka and
Dean Malenko, he chastised them for their efforts last night that saw them
both go down in defeat. Malenko noted that Benoit too had lost his match,
which got him yelled at some more. Tanaka and Malenko both hung around ringside
for Benoits match with Devon Storm and the Canadian former champion gave us a
display in technical wrestling, seemingly having Devon Storm where he wanted
him, until Masato Tanaka bounded onto the apron just as Benoit ran into the
ropes. The two collided, knocking Tanaka to the floor, and Malenko was quick
to shove Tanaka, demanding to know what he was doing. Tanaka protested and
Benoit was distracted, long enough for Devon to come back around and hit the
Thunderclap Brainbuster for the win.

Devons night wasn't over as during his celebrations, The Rocks music hit and
out came new Intercontinental champion Brad Armstrong to talk like an idiot and
mock Devon Storm, noting that he just couldn't get the job done. Sounds like a
challenge. In any event, it looks like Armstrong is sticking with the Rock
gimmick now, much to the displeasure of all.

The Pitbulls defeated Los Guerreros (Hector Guerrero and Mando Guerrero) when
Pitbull #2 pinned M. Guerrero after a powerbomb in 0:02:41.
Rating: **

The Pitbulls also scored a win, over Mando and Hector,
despite plenty of stealing and cheating, respectively, from the two of them.
The Pitbulls didn't hang around in getting their win, and after last nights
win for the Rock'n'Roll Express to retain the tag belts, every team needs to
step up their game to win themselves the next shot at the titles and the
Pitbulls may just be the best bet.

Dynamite Kid pinned Curt Hennig with the Swandive Headbutt in 0:14:47.
Rating: ****

Dynamite Kid scored an impressive win over a dejected Curt
Hennig, still reeling from last nights failure to pick up tag title gold.
Dynamite looked at his absolute best, outwrestling Hennig and picking up a
very impressive win.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Matt Hardy might be disappointed after last nights defeat, but he has a job to
do and got on with it today. Perhaps his main focal point was slightly self
involved as he called The Young Lions into his office with a mystery for them
to solve - Hardy wanted them to get to the bottom of who had attacked him
several months earlier and put him out of action, hinting that it was probably
Jody Fleisch, and asked them to investigate. Hardy also wanted them to find
out who had stolen the family pack of Cheese Doodles from his desk. Inspector
Matthews and Officer York were all to happy to help out.

Casket No-Countout-No-DQ-Match:
Scott Putski defeated Paul Roma in 0:12:57.
Rating: * 3/4

Meanwhile, Paul Roma had a special dark side challenge for Scott Putski tonight
in the DWFs first ever CASKET MATCH! Putski gladly accepted, hoping to do
away with Roma for good, but the Mean Street Posse were quickly making trouble
at ringside and with no disqualifications, were able to intefere at will. They
made their mistake however when the two of them, with Roma in control, pulled
out a couple of bags of Cheese Doodles and began munching away on them. That
was all the proof the Young Lions were ever going to need and they raced down
to break it up and beat down the Posse before dragging them to the back. The
distraction worked to Putskis advantage and he got the chance to backdrop
Roma into the casket and close the lid to secure the match. Sadly he didn't
have an electric drill available to lock him inside permanently.

Jody Fleisch pinned Rey Mysterio with the 2-8-4-7-4 in 0:08:18.
Rating: *** 3/4

Fleisch meanwhile scored himself a win over Rey Mysterio, then denied all
wrong doing pertaining to the mystery attack on Matt Hardy. Hmmmm....

Lance Storm made Kurt Angle submit to the Maple Leaf in 0:11:17.
Rating: **** 1/4

Chris Jericho was presented with his trophy (a big one at that, vaguely
resembling the old Wrestlemania 4 battle royal trophy) for securing the
title last night of 'Pride of Canada'. Jericho said that he was undoubtedly
the Pride of Canada and the best in the tournament and was proud to have
proven this to all the doubters. Before he could officially accept the trophy
however, Kurt Angle came out to interrupt proceedings. Angle made it clear
that he thought Canada sucked and that Jerichos winning this stupid tournament
was a disgrace on his record. Angle implored that Jericho see the light and
dump this stupid award and come back to America where he could wrestle
amongst real men. Angle turned his back for just a moment to badmouth some
of the ringside fans, allowing Jericho to grab his own trophy and smash it
over the back of Angle. I guess that's a no then.

Things didn't end there though. Jericho made his way back down the aisle,
only for Angle to recover and spring after Jericho and nail him from behind,
before kicking him down and applying the ankle lock for an extended time.
Angle then grabbed a Canadian flag off a ringside fan and motioned he was
going to rip it up, bringing out Lance Storm to attack and prevent him from
doing so. Leading to the Storm/Angle match later on, Angle took control early
on but a mis-timed effort at the Olympic Slam allowed Storm to counted and
take Angle down to apply the Maple Leaf submission. Angle didn't last long
and tapped, to the biggest pop of the evening.

Billy Kidman and Steve Corino defeated Psychoanalysis when Kidman pinned Pillman
with the Shooting Star Press in 0:12:16.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Billy Kidman and Steve Corino retained the Intercontinental Tag Team Titles.)

Last night, Billy Kidman and Steve Corino both claimed singles gold to go
alongside their Intercontinental tag team titles and whilst the two are already
bragging their victories and shoving down our throats their boastfulness (all
the while threatening to sue if they don't get the proper respect), their IC
tag titles were on the line tonight against Psychoanalysis, considered by many
the uncrowned world tag team champions. Sean O'Haire was out to snare another
title after losing his IC title last night, but the steady cheating of the
champs was enough, using all the usual dirty tricks possible in tag team action
to maintain control, though Kidmans ability to finish off Pillman to score
the win was impressive, demonstrating why he is indeed now the heavyweight
champion of the world.

Card rating: *** 1/2

Match observations:

Next week, a number one contender will be announced for International Incident.
Traditonally the event takes place in Canada but with Wrestlefest eminating
from Toronto last night, this will be the first ever DWF Pay-Per-View to take
place from outside North America - the United Kingdom to be exact, at White
Hart Lane stadium. The three favourites to receive the title shot all got
involved in a little tussle earlier today. Don Muraco was out to announce that
after last nights victory, he unequivocally deserved the title shot and after
a long year of victory after victory, now was the time he should get what he
deserved. Too many mentions of last night however brought Jerry Lynn out to
confront him. Lynn dared him to prove that he could beat him again, which
Muraco shirked at, perhaps because Jeff Hardy had sneakily grabbed a chair
and waffled Lynn across the back with it. Muraco set Lynn up for another
Tombstone, only for now former champion Raven to run out and make the save
and take it to Muraco, unleashing a series of right hands and finally sending
him from the ring.

Good card.  You mentioned in a response to Super Cade that I'd probably hate your writing, and that is untrue.  I love what you do with DWF.  Do you have any of DWF archived on a website or anything?  I'd really like to read all the back cards, see title histories, etc.

No online archives. In any event, the televised shows for the first couple of years were written up in practically a foreign language which was for my benefit to understand - I hadn't originally planned on posting results online. Still, perhaps if I ever have the webspace...

As for title histories, I have a Word file lying around with the title histories. Needs updating of course, but later on perhaps I'll whack them up here for your benefit.

Still, thanks for the remarks/feedback. What I was really refering to was the general piss takes that crop up during my PPV's in particular when I delve into the full blown interviews. Quite often the stuff that's bad was almost intended to be so. But then, at the end of the day, I'm trying to have a laugh and amuse myself, which is what really counts.
Snabbit888Posted on 08/25/04 at 02:09:33

Would you mind sending me a copy of the title histories?  I'm a huge mark for histories and such.
91Posted on 08/25/04 at 22:12:09

No problems, already done in fact, to the neimiller address in your profile (assuming that's the right one). The file also happens to contain my write up for each years Royal Rumble, so yay. :)
Snabbit888Posted on 08/25/04 at 22:17:22

niemiller@hotmail.com not neimiller :)  but yes, that's the one.
