PWA IMPACT: WEEK 2

JustinPosted on 08/24/04 at 15:16:55

PWA Director of Operations: Vince Russo comes out onto the entranceway.
VR: Last week, we entered a new era in wrestling. To keep moving in a forward direction, tonight, another champion will be crowned. But first tonight, will be the Impact Superstar Challenge. Two men will face off for a spot on the Impact roster in a best of 5 series. Whoever gets three wins first will recieve the spot on the roster.

IMPACT SUPERSTAR CHALLENGE:
Maven pinned Jay Lethal with the Halo DDT in 14:27.
Rating: *

Shark Boy defeated Xavier by countout in 11:54.
Rating: *1/4

Full Blooded Italians (Big Vito & Johnny Stamboli) defeated Spike & Bubba Ray Dudley when Stamboli pinned Spike with a DDT in 10:50.
Rating: *3/4

Footage is shown of Evolution turning on Triple H last week. The camera fades out of the footage & to Evolution backstage with Johnathan Coachman.
JC: Guys, last week you all turned your backs on the man that has been the leader of Evolution: Triple H. Everyone has just one question: why?
RO: Why? I'll tell you why Coach. Because Triple H thought he was bigger than Evolution. That the World Title was his property and no one, not even another member of Evolution should ever have it. He didn't realize that Evolution had passed him by. And thanks to "The Legend Killer" he won't be back.
RF: Can you feel it the air? WOOO! It's like I've always said, whether you like or you don't, you better learn to love it. 'Cause Evolution is the best thing going today.
RO: And the three of us (pointing at Cade, Morgan, & himself) can more than get the job done.

Devon Storm pinned Christian York with a swinging DDT in 9:54.
Rating: ***3/4

Christopher Daniels pinned Vampiro with the Last Rites in 13:30.
Rating: ***3/4

The Basham Brothers defeated Billy Kidman & Chris Sabin when Doug defeated Kidman by pinfall in 22:28.
Rating: *3/4

Footage is shown from last week of the PWA Impact World Title tournament of the match between Shawn Michaels & The Undertaker.

Shawn Michaels & The Undertaker battled to a double countout in 17:40.

(Randy Orton won the PWA Impact United States Title.)
[Ric Fliar interfered against Mr. Aguila.]
[Tracy Brooks interfered against Matt Morgan.]
[Ric Flair interfered against John Cena.]
[Desire & Tracy Brooks interfered against Randy Orton.]

After the match:
Garrison Cade, Matt Morgan & Ric Flair all join Orton in the ring.  All the members shake hands & embrace. When Flair goes over & shakes Morgan's hand, Morgan pulls Flair in and hits him with a short artm clothesline! He then picks him up & choke slams "The Nature Boy"! Cade comes over & begins stomping the former 16 time World Champion. They both pick him up just as Orton comes up & hits the R.K.O. The three young lions all stand over him just as they did to Triple H a week ago. And then leave him laying in a broken heap for the medics to come & help.

Match obersvations:

Randy Orton has now assumed the role of leader in Evolution. And now only 3 members remain as Ric Flair was removed from the group much the same way Triple H was ousted last week. Will "The Nature Boy" return for revenge? Or has "The Legend Killer" claimed another one of wrestlings all time greats?

Not only has Orton taken over Evolution, but he has also captured the US Title, can anyone stop Evolution?

In what reminded fans of a feud from 1997, The Undertaker & HBK battled all over the arena before finally both were counted out. Both men are looking forward to the rematch next week.

Next week:
Undertaker vs HBK for the Impact World Title

The Impact Cruiserweight Title will be up for grabs.

And a new GM will be announced.

Plus in just under 4 weeks: Sept 19.... PWA Impact presents: UNCENSORED

Maven vs. Jay Lethal in a best of five series, eh?  My money is on lethal to take it, but who can say?

Interesting storyline you've got going with Orton's Evolution taking out the senior members, especially in comparison to what's really happening with Evolution these days.  Got to be honest, though, I really don't think Morgan and Cade are up to Orton's standard.  The group desperately needs someone to fill an upper midcard slot, unless you're planning on dropping the entire group down to the midcard which seems unlikely.  Looking at your roster, I'm not sure who could fit there.  I'm tempted to say Shawn Michaels, but he's the world champion.  Maybe Chris Daniels?

And... ugh.  Looks like Sonny Siaki is the top contender for Orton's title after eliminating the most people and being the last man out.  I suppose it'll give Triple H and Ric Flair a match to interfere in, at least...

Perhaps Orton will be used to help lift Morgan and Cade to a better level. It'll be interesting to see where Flair and Triple H go from here. On the one hand, you unite them to wage war against Evolution (perhaps getting some more help). Alternatively, there's SuperstarJimiC's suggestion on the last show that Triple H reforms DX. If you really want to push the whole stable vs stable thing, you can then go and have Flair reform the Horsemen and have all three go at it. If you plan on doing anything like that, be careful. The Stable Wars stuff in 97 wasn't very good, so I guess the challenge would be to demonstrate how it could have been done. In any event, the options are numerous.

That would be cool if the Original DX members would reunite as a faction, all you need is Joanie "Chyna-Doll" Laurer to complete the package. What's with Ric Flair turning face. I guess he'll be back on the active roster full-time again to beat the crap out of Cade & Morgan. Only time will tell.
