Major Imperia Wrestling Franchise Update!

AnubisPosted on 08/09/04 at 00:21:08

Well, I finally updated the full site.  Now on the main page, in addition to all the cards that have been run, you will find a list of IWF Champions along with links to my Full TNM Roster and the IWF Title History.

On the roster page, you'll find a list of all the wrestlers that have ever been in IWF along with their height, weight, home town, finisher, work rate, push, stamina, charisma, and whether or not they're on my current active roster.

On the history page, you'll find a list of all past and present title holders along with the dates they won and the lengths of their title reigns.

ENJOY!

I've read most of your cards, and the main problem I've seen is that there is little depth.  It has the potential to be a fun read and a good circuit, but with all fantasy characters and a barebones writeup style, I find myself just not caring about any of them because I don't know any of the characters.  They just blend.  I'd suggest maybe a little more depth in the writing style.

Some of the fictional wrestlers are kinda hard to follow if you don't "know" them.  I take it the roster page doesn't help?

Basically, I designed my circuit to be pretty much identical to how Oliver runs his WWF circuit on the site.

I also considered going back in time in order to be able to use some other people that wouldn't normally be available (Owen Hart, Curt Hennig, etc.) . . . I just didn't wanna offend anyone who thought using the dead wrestlers would be sacrilage or something.

Since you're here though and actually willing to say something, what kind of detailing do you think would make a circuit similar to mine watchable?  Do you think I should restart it from the beginning in a different time period or just start detailing more from where I am?

The roster page helps, but only to a certain extent.  I can tell who is supposed to be a good worker, who's a big oaf, etc.  Problem is, with fictional wrestlers, it just takes a lot more.  You have to do a lot of exposition with the characters.  How did these guys end up in Imperia?  Were some indy stars?  Is someone else a can't miss bluechip prodigy?

I don't think you should start over... you have a good base.  My biggest suggestion is to make each show feel like a show.  Instead of listing all of the match results and then a little description of the event, give each match a little individual detail.  Break it up so you're listing the match, discussing what happened, give result, then any post-match angles.  It'll be easier to follow and give a better vision of the characters, IMO.
