Year 2 - Week 1

Card Information:
Held in: JOE LOUIS ARENA
Location: DETRIOT, MICHIGAN, UNITED STATES
Date/Time: Jan 8/05 at 8:00pm
Matches/Interviews booked: 17
A Sold Out Arena.
TV ratings: 4.5%
Approximently Viewers: 13.5 million

We kicked off our first broadcast of the new year with the appearance of the new RPW sponsor, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas. Shane came out to lay down
a few ground rules for the tag tournament that was going to take place over the course of tonight's card and next week's card. The 2 main thing he brought
up were:
1. Any one interfering will be immediately suspended
2. Since the World Tag champs are involved in the tournament, their titles WILL be on the line in their first round match and any subsequent matches during their
run of the tournament. The titles will continue to be on the line regardless of who's holding them as long as the tournament is in session.

Tag Tournament Round One:
Gangsta Heaven (Gotti and Hoffa) defeated Michael Shane and Frankie Kazarian when Hoffa made Michael Shane submit to a Fujiwara armbar in 0:11:27.
Rating: ****

Gotti & Hoffa advanced to the second round to meet the winner of the AJ Styles/D-Lo Brown vs Real Xtreme match. I'm sure the fans are rooting to see a GH vs RX
match,

Team Xtreme (James Robinson and Lance Williams) defeated AJ Styles and D'Lo Brown when Williams defeated AJ when AJ passed out in the Pain NY Style in 0:10:47.
Rating: *** 1/2

The fans were ecstatic when Real Xtreme won the match because they knew the second round match between RX and GH would be a blockbuster encounter.

We must mention that during the match, Michael Shane and Kazarian made their presence known by standing at the top of the aisle which distracted AJ Styles quite a
bit. But the interesting part is that Alex Shelley came out behind them and got in both of their faces about the upcoming X Division title situation. The 3 of them argued which allowed AJ to focus back on the match but it was too late as he got caught on the wrong end of that Pain NY Style finisher by Lance Williams.

The Paladins (Tony Antony and Travis Cade) defeated
Jack Evans and Scott Starring when Antony pinned Starring with the Glam Rock Bottom in 0:16:14.
Rating: **** 3/4

The Paladins reunited for one last hurrah since Travis Cade has not signed a renewal of his contract with the RPW. If they had lost, Cade would be through with the RPW but they didn't and Cade got to add another
win under his belt. I must say that watching Cade and Evans trade moves was quite a classic, especially Jack Evans powering his way out of the CavalCade 2.0

Hell's Army (Jack Ripper and Lark Fenriz) defeated Damien 666 and Halloween when Ripper pinned Halloween with the Mother of All Bombs in 0:15:41.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Hell's Army retained the World Tag Titles.)

Ripper and Fenriz advanced to the next round and held on to their tag titles for a bit longer as they were able to finish off Mexico's Most Wanted with Jack Ripper's impressive finisher, the Mother of All Bombs.

This should be an interesting second round match as we will see The Hatebreed vs The Paladins ONE MORE TIME before Travis Cade (one of the initial Paladin
members) ends his run in RPW.

Akira Taue and Jun Izumida defeated Raven and Sabu when A. Taue pinned Raven with the Nodowa Otoshi in 0:19:17.
Rating: *** 1/4

The Japanese invasion of Akira Taue & Jun Izumida were dominating this match quite a bit and showed what they were all about. They advance to meet the
winner of the Afternoon Delight/Austin-Tuckwell match.

Afternoon Delight (Lee Awesome and Lee Handsome) defeated Steve Austin and Ben Tuckwell when Total Lee pinned S. Austin with the Like A Rolling Stone in 0:15:07.
Rating: ***

Afternoon Delight showed their tag team skills are still top notch as they went toe to toe with Tuckwell & Austin.

Cumshot Feminists (Dom Donovan and Chuck) defeated The Hatebreed (Hate and Lucifer Magnusson) when Chuck pinned Hate with the Joykiller in 0:13:26.
Rating: ** 1/2
[Cardinal Synn interfered against Chuck.]

Cumshot Feminists and The Hatebreed went at each other from the opening bell with fierce tenacity. I'm quite amazed that Cumshot Feminists were able to
pull off a win over the big man Lucifer Magnusson and his partner, Hate.

Lance Storm and Rob Van Dam defeated CM Punk and Trent Acid when RVD defeated Acid by disqualification in 0:10:14.
Rating: *** 1/4

Well that's all she wrote for CM Punk. Trent Acid cost his team the match by laying his hands on the referee and with that, their run in the tournament is over along with the RPW career of CM Punk. The fans did not care much for Punk's departure and it showed as he walked to the back and the crowd chanted "Hey Heyyyy..Goodbye!" to him.

[NON TITLE DEFENSE]:
Werewolf Gregorson pinned Christian after a brain buster in 0:11:17.
Rating: **** 1/4

Gregorson and Christian went at it in a non title encounter that would have resulted in a title rematch if Christian had won BUT he didn't and now Gregorson will have a new contender decided for him very soon.

Tag Tournament Second Round:
Team Xtreme (James Robinson and Lance Williams) defeated Gangsta Heaven (Gotti and Hoffa) when Williams pinned Gotti after a power bomb in 0:08:20.
Rating: **** 1/4
[Marty Lyons interfered against Gotti.]

Marty Lyons saved his team TWICE with a well placed foot on the rope during a pinning position and in the end, it was Real Xtreme who will be on next week's
card in the Semi Final round of the tag tournament as they prepare to face the winner of Antony/Cade vs Fenriz/Ripper. Regardless of what team makes it
to that match, the tag titles will be coming with them.

The Paladins (Tony Antony and Travis Cade) defeated
Hell's Army (Jack Ripper and Lark Fenriz) when Cade made Ripper submit to a single-leg takedown into a leglock in 0:09:48.
Rating: ****

This has to be Travis Cade's finest night in RPW and coincidentally it's was to be his last one but now that he and Tony Antony have advanced to the Semi Final round, he will be making at least one more appearance in an RPW ring on next week's card. Let's also not forget the fact that they are the NEW tag champs since Shane Douglas did say that the tag titles were on the line for the entire tournament.

Afternoon Delight (Lee Awesome and Lee Handsome) defeated
Akira Taue and Jun Izumida when Handsome pinned A. Taue with the Sun Shining Wizard in 0:08:37.
Rating: ***

Lee Handsome had quite a mean streak in him during the match and it worked for him as he was able to finish over Akira Taue with that Sun Shining Wizard finisher.

Lance Storm and Rob Van Dam defeated Cumshot Feminists (Dom Donovan and Chuck) when RVD pinned Chuck with the Five Star Frog Splash in 0:12:55.
Rating: 1/2*

Wow! Lance Storm and RVD are quite the team, even if they were put together in a makeshift manner.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Falls-Count-Anywhere Chain Match:
Travis LaGrange made Teddy Diablo submit to a cobra clutch in 0:05:40.
Rating: **** 1/4

Travis LaGrange sent Teddy Diablo packing out of the RPW with a loss in what will be remembered as a long and tired feud between these two men.

Maxis Cendres pinned Van Wild with the Maximum Overdrive in 0:06:50.
Rating: **** 1/4

In another farewell match, Maxis Cendres did what was right and made sure the door didn't hit Van Wild on the way out by sending him out personally with a Maximum Overdrive.

Anger and Tommy Dreamer defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Frank Knight when Dreamer pinned Chavo Jr. with the Dreamer DDT in 0:17:12.
Rating: *** 3/4

Anger leaves the RPW with one more win and the entire arena was surprised to see Tommy Dreamer actually get a pinfall over someone, especially when that someone is Chavo Guerrero Jr.

After the match, Anger was standing in the ring addressing the fans and saying his goodbyes when Hate came out and began to trash talk him. Hate then
proceeded to attack Anger and the two of them brawled all the way down the aisle and into the back area where cameras followed them all the way to the
outside of the arena. They continued to roll around in the snow as the cameras went off the air.

Card rating: *** 1/4

Match observations:

Next week's card will have the Semi Final and Finals of the tag tournament. We've already seen the tag titles change hands from The Hatebreed to The Paladins. Will Cade and Antony finish the tournament with the tag titles or will Real Xtreme regain them and start off 2005 as the tag champs? Will this be the year for the former tag champs, Afternoon Delight? Tune in and find out.

Also on the card will be:

*A WORLD TITLE defense between the champ, Werewolf Gregorson vs Travis LaGrange

*AJ Styles & D-LO Brown vs Kazarian/Shane with NO COUNTOUT rules

* A shot at the tag titles sometime in the future will be given to the winner of  - Gangsta Heaven vs Cumshot Feminists

More matches to be decided - tune in next week.

wow.. an interesting to say the least year two tourney... and on top of that... Shane Douglas is "sponsoring" the thing.  This oughta be good.  :)

And Dreamer pinning Chavo Jr... crazy stuff.

thanks alot - that means tons coming from the guy who's rules got me going on this long road of booking 54+ cards. =) btw - whens the next set of rules coming out?
Rick GarrardPosted on 08/10/04 at 07:07:38

As soon as CW makes its way to week 60.  ;)

In fact, I'll be running week 14 in a few minutes, and will continue to run cards well ahead of what I am posting here on the forums... mainly so I can "catch up" with those of you that have made the rules such a huge success, especially since there is a much awaited need for the next bunch of rules.

It's not easy making it all the way to year 2 with these things (especially after having to restart due to a computer meltdown like I did with BCW).  And I am very pleased to see a couple of you have done it, while also making very entertaining and logical circuits.
