Authority! Week 2

Ernest Miller pinned La Parka after a tiger driver in 0:19:28.
Rating: ****

- "I'm the Greatest!" The Cat showed the crowd and La Parka that he is a strong martial artist.  He grabbed the mic and every chance to hype himself and badmouth the other wrestlers, thus La Parka nailed him with a Shinning Wizard after the match.  The fans went wild as the Cat ran to the back.  La Parka danced in the ring and wasted television time; Neal had mixed emotions about his actions.

Handicap-Match:
Yoshihiro Tajiri defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Juventud Guerrera when Tajiri defeated J. Guerrera by disqualification in 0:21:09.
Rating: ***

- The fans and even the staff love Tajiri even though he plays a heel.  Tajiri is one of the strongest fighters in the promotion and a big push toward a title is in the future.  Chavo and Juvy had the hell kicked out of them throughout the match.  Chavo was even put in the Tarantula.  Chavo was knocked out a back brain kick.

Triangle Match:
D'Lo Brown defeated Chris Jericho and Mikey Whipwreck:
x D'Lo beat Jericho via a slingshot somersault splash in 0:31:29
         x D'Lo beat Whipwreck via the Lo-Down in 0:32:42
Rating: ****
(D'Lo Brown retained the Authority! TV Title.)

- D'Lo is really showing everyone what he has to offer, and he has a lot to give to the fans.  The crowd always goes wild when D'Lo is in the ring.  The backstage staff and other employes say that D'Lo Brown is the future of this promotion.

Ultimate Weapon Death Match:
Abyss and Cactus Jack battled to a draw in 0:12:00.
Rating: * 3/4

- What could of been a strong match ended up being a match full of botched spots and boring brawling.  The fans didn't really seem to enjoy the match but the performance was horrid.  A lot more was and is expected from these two fighters.

Four Corners Match:
Masato Tanaka defeated Diamond Dallas Page, Eddie Guerrero and Taz:
x M. Tanaka beat Page via a crucifix in 0:47:13
x M. Tanaka beat E. Guerrero via the Roaring Elbow in 0:49:15
x M. Tanaka beat Taz via a Victory Roll in 0:50:20
Rating: **** 1/4

- All men put on a strong performance.  Eddie got to shine with the big boys, and Neal has stated Eddie will be a strong top heel.  Taz has been moved from face to neutral as he has had a big chip on his shoulder, doing whatever he can to hurt face and heel opponents.  DDP and Tanaka are really working the crowd but DDP is not as strong of a performer as Tanaka, thus Tanaka has the chance to win gold next week.

Four Corners Ladder Match for the vacant Authority! Tag Team Titles
Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit defeated The Dudley Boys, Hayabusa and Jerry Lynn and Vader and Sabu:
x Benoit beat Bubba in 0:50:27
x Benoit beat Sabu in 1:01:40
         x D. Malenko beat Hayabusa in 1:07:10
Rating: *** 3/4
(Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko won the Authority! Tag Team Titles.)

- Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko shocked the fans as the Dudley Boys were favored to win the tag titles.  All men put on a strong show but nobody performed like Benoit and Malenko!  Neal figured he would put the tag titles in the hands of a strong face tag team since the top title was being carried by a heel.

- Dustin Neal was please once again with the performance of his wrestlers.  He stated that Batista would be defending his title against Masato Tanaka at the next Authority!

Card rating: *** 1/2

Wow, those are some long long matches there. What do you have average match length set at?

I knew La Parka was good, but carrying Ernest Miller to a four star match, impressive.

Well Tanaka has certainly earned the shot. Question is will he snare the gold? I suspect not this time around, but I've been surprised before.

And hey, how can anyone be unhappy at La Parka wasting time in the ring - that makes GREAT television.

And did I not say Tanaka and Taz would really nail it when they were on form? Actually I didn't, but I hinted as much, and they performed today. Can't complain at that. Granted it was the turn of Abyss and Cactus Jack to dissapoint, but again, one bad match is nothing to fret about... at least not yet. Besides, * 3/4 is a little mediocre, possibly on the dull side, but not godawful horrible. Once you start dipping below *, then you should be concerned.

Good stuff though. Anyone who has a Benoit/Malenko team holding the gold has done something to warrant my approval.

another good show.  Again a lot of long matches but that isn't good or bad.  Nice show and the roster is shaping up nicely.
