Match observations:

With Ground Zero just six days away, tensions continue to heat up, though in
the case of the three men challenging for the title, it's not necessarily with
each other. Jerry Lynn competed in tonights main event, defeating the American
activist Kurt Angle. Angle claimed that he had done some more research and on
top of Devon Storms apparent Romania background, Jerry has a great uncle who
once married a woman who was born in a plane over unchartered waters, and as
far as he was concerned, that was good enough to make Lynn a cheap pet eating
foreigner freak. Lynn didn't take too kindly to that and despite a good fight
by Angle, Lynn ended up victorious after a devastating last couple of minutes.

Lynn might have one eye on the world title at Ground Zero, but right now he
might have to have another eye on Don Muraco. Muraco showed up today with one
thing on his mind - to send a message to Jerry Lynn. Luckily for Lynn, Muraco
and Jeff Hardy were escorted from the building before the main event, but
Muraco made his feelings clear - as far as he's concerned, Lynn has done
nothing but duck him for the past year despite their previous clashes over the
last year, and the time is at hand to get Lynn to agree to a match, title or
no title. Muraco also noted that he's been shafted out of title shots time and
time again. The official word from the head office is that the committee feel
that Muracos temperament and attitude have been so appauling that he hasn't
deserved a shot, but if he were to take on Lynn and be victorious, they may
have to change that.

Dynamite Kid is in that title match as well, and whilst he would have loved to
have been in tonights main against one or both of Lynn and Angle (has he ever
got some scores to settle there), he had one more person to take care of
tonight, that being the man who cost him the Royal Rumble, Steve Corino.
Dynamite didn't hold back on this one and left Corinos face a bloody mess in
victory. If he shows this much intensity this Sunday, Dynamite Kid may well
finally hold the world heavyweight title he so badly craves.

As for Raven, well, he remains silent and brooding as always, but when poised
with a request for him to say anything he wanted to say to Lynn and Dynamite
before this Sundays match, well, "Quoth the Raven... Nevermore" always suffices
I guess.

Billy Kidman will have a vented interest in that match of course as he is
scheduled to face the winner at Wrestlefest for the title. Meanwhile this
Sunday he has another big clash as he takes on Bobby Eaton, still licking his
wounds but looking better as the weeks go by. Still, with any wounds to lick,
you might have expected Rhyno to tear him apart but Eaton seems to have a new
motivation to him and after sidestepping (possibly falling) out of the way of
the Gore, Rhyno planted himself into the ringpost shoulder first and Eaton
finished with the Alabama Jam. No sooner was he walking back up the aisle when
Kidman lept from the crowd and smashed him into the guardrail and stomped on
him as he lay lying. As Kidman left, looking proud of his actions, he signalled
that he would be the champion very soon. As for Eaton, he might have a few
more injuries to preoccupy his mind now.

Chris Benoit grows more and more anxious with the form of his Triple Threat
partners by the day. Dean Malenko took on one half of the tag team champions
Robert Gibson. Gibson is a dangerous opponent but being less accompanied to the
singles ranks than Malenko, a former Intercontinental champion, he was expected
to go down in brave defeat. As it was, Gibson showed us just why he is one half
of the tag team champions as he marched to victory. Benoit was not happy and
gave Malenko quite the tongue lashing in the back afterwards.

Malenko will have the chance to make it up this Sunday in the Tag Team Turmoil
match in which he and Tanaka are scheduled to appear. A number of teams stand
out as heavy contenders. Psychoanalysis are certainly one, being that they won
a TTT match last year to get a tag title shot at Wrestlefest as well, and many
people are expecting lightning to strike twice, with the one added difference
being that this time, they'll be the new tag team champions. As confident as
they sound, it was proven today that they're far from unbeatable as in a big
upset, the Young Lions pulled off a win after Joey Matthews rolled up Brian
Pillman and held the tights. These two young upstarts may be cocky and annoying
but they're a great team and demonstrated why today. Their laughing and
cheering in victory wasn't half annoying though...

Also expected to do well, the formidable duo of The Pitbulls who very rarely
experience defeat. A lot is expected of Hector and Mando too, they could well
be the dark horses in this one, and showed why in a four corners match earlier
designed to showcase some of the teams involed. Hayabusa and Tajiri, The
Miracle Violence Connection and The Syndicate are all very established teams
but it was Los Guerreros who got the win, albeit only after Chavo Snr at
ringside lied to the ref about Tajiri green misting some ringside fans, Hector
cheating by knocking Ken Shamrock out with some brass knucks and Mando hitting
the Mandosault to steal a victory.

Of course, the one team on everybodies lips is Pretty Perfect, seeing this as
their way to get themselves their rematch at the gold they lost a few months
back. Today they promised perfection in the Tag Team Turmoil, guarenteeing a
win, and then claimed they would win back THEIR tag team titles at Wrestlefest.
Curt Hennig showed what he's about today defeating Rey Mysterio and promising
more of the same this Sunday. Of course, it was Juventud Guerrera who cost
Rey the match, continuing that long standing feud, but it was Hennig who got
the pin and in his mind, and Pretty Perfects mind, that's all that matters.

Disturbingly, the hyped match between The Mean Street Posse and the team of
Scott Putski and Paul Roma (hyped only by the Posse themselves and Sean Mooney,
the one man stupid enough to cover this nonsense) WILL go ahead this Sunday,
though only after the Posse went into Shane McMahons office today and handed
him a briefcase full of money - one million dollars of their dads money to be precise, to be
donated to the DWF if they would be promised their match. Shane apparently has
a lot of rather expensive plans for the DWF and reluctantly agreed to let the
match go ahead (slipping in something about a ten minute time limit). The
Posse, now smelling of incense and dying their sweatervests black, now have a
forum upon which to reveal the Greater Power. Poor old Putski and Roma won't
know what's hit them...

Finally another win for Larry Zbyszko today as he looks now to Low Ki at
Ground Zero. Should be a tight match.

Great card, especially when Jerry Lynn pinned Kurt Angle.
