Match observations:

Following last nights victory in the main event of the PPV, Jerry Lynn had
every reason to be pleased, but he will already have to have his sights set on
his next major challenge. Shane McMahon called Jerry Lynn out today on the
Kings Court to congratulate him and inform him in person of what lies ahead at
the Royal Rumble. Following Fall Brawl at the end of last year, there is still
one old feud that remains unconcluded - Lynns rivalry with Chris Benoit.
Shane informed Lynn that he felt that Lynn and Benoit were perhaps the only
two people capable of winning the Royal Rumble having competed in a match
earlier in the evening, so he was booking a match between the two on the day
of Last Man Standing before the Royal Rumble match and ONLY the winner will
advance to the Rumble match itself. Shane also noted that there will be no
tied result - double pins will not count, double disqualifications will not
count and should both men remain outside of the ring for a count of ten, the
first man to return to the ring shall be declared the winner. On top of that,
falls will count anywhere. Lynn certainly seemed up for the challenge, and
promised that Benoit would not get anywhere near the Rumble... unless he
decrees otherwise.

Lynn meanwhile still has his issues with Billy Kidman and Steve Corino. Lynn
defeated Steve Corino in tonights main event with both Kidman and Raven
getting physically involved in the match. One thing worth considering is that
Lynn and Raven made an impressive duo in their one tag team showing (coming out
with the gold and all) and seemingly work well together outside of matches. It
could be a while before they get dethroned by another team.

We have a brand new TV champion, after perhaps over-confidence cost Bobby
Eaton. That is to say he was not too cocky of his own abilities, oh no, but
rather his condition. Having had to pull out of the Badd Blood main event due
to injuries suffered at the hands of Kidman and Corino, he made his return far
too quickly tonight to meet a contracted title defense that he would have been
allowed to put back a few weeks if necessary. His injuries told throughout the
match as he struggled on with the pain. The new champion is one Alex Wright who
took full advantage, and why not, of the situation. Eaton did make a few very
gallant comebacks, giving Wright everything he could, and he even came this
close to taking it but his injuries slowed him down in his ascent to the top
rope in order to hit the Alabama Jam, Wright was able to move and the impact
of hitting the mat, combined with the pain he was suffering was too much and
Wright hit the Deutsch Suplex to take the win and the title.

Kurt Angle had a sensational change of heart last night, turning on Dynamite
Kid whilst refereeing his match. True, one might note that guest referees
always have a habit of surprising people and turning their back on people, but
Kurt Angle seemed far to clean cut and honest to possibly do the same.
Obviously not, and he answered everybodies questions today. First and foremost,
he was angry following their recent tag match where he teamed up with Dynamite
and Dynamite essentially left him to chase after Benoit while Angle was
getting beat. Secondly, Angle is angry that a Brit would be trying to conquer
what is an American organisation. In Angles eyes, it's bad enough that a
Canadian is around and prospering, but the "hated British" in his eyes is far
too much and he is vowing revenge on Angle for years of opression and
everything Benedict Arnold tried to pull.

The tag team titles were on the line as the Rock'n'Roll Express defended
against the Young Lions. Victory came for the champions, only for Curt Hennig
and Owen Hart to jump them afterwards, all the while demanding that they
should be the team getting the tag title shots.

Eddie Guerrero had a match with Essa Rios today, with a couple of twists. First
of all, Eddie began preceedings by announcing he was through with his no good
ungrateful nephew Chavo and would be teaching him a lesson in due course.
Second of all was a slightly unusual appearance by three Mexican judges for
this encounter with all the Mexican traditions surrounding this match. Both
Eddie and Essa seemed surprised by this but went along with it anyway. After
the ref got bumped (hold the back page), the three judges suddenly jumped in
and began wailing on Essa, then unmasked (well of course three Mexican
wrestling judges should have masks) to reveal... Chavo Snr., Hector and Mando
Guerrero. Eddie won the match then announced that he'd called his brothers,
three men who deserve the name and the legacy of Guerrero and had gathered
them together not only to rage war on Chavo Jr. but to make the DWF a hallmark
for the history of the Guerrero family.

The rivalry eminating between Edge, Christian and Test and Furnas, LaFon and
Cena continued today with two matches - Doug Furnas taking on Test and John
Cena taking on Edge. Furnas started off with Test and got the win after LaFon
intefered and Furnas was able to cradle Test up for the win. Edge didn't let
Cena get such a break and put him away with shocking effectiveness, ending
the recent winning streak Cena has been on. With those two victories, Doug
Furnas and Edge are now slated to meet at Last Man Standing.

Larry Zbyszko made his debut today and kept it on the mat, finishing it with
an abdominal stretch of all moves, perhaps becoming the first man in the
history of the world to win with that move as he put Super Calo away. The mat
work was impressive and Larry isn't missing a beat as far as since his big
match in 1980 against Bruno Sammartino is concerned though he certainly seems
content to keep things as basic as possible. Coach meanwhile, who maintains he
is both "Larry Z's" manager AND home boy, is out to prove he isn't a walking,
talking joke.

Devon Storm was also able to notch up another victory, then had a few words of
warning for Brad Armstrong, citing if he shows up at Last Man Standing, he'd
have him to answer to.
