TSW Card #10 - Buffalo, NY - 'Bordertown'

jesse_ewiakPosted on 05/03/04 at 09:07:56

Show opens with 'The Big Nasty' coming to the ring, and saying that he deserved a shot at the Heavyweight title after that 'idiot' Shamrock blew his shot. Board Rep Ewiak came out and said Wight still had to earn his shot and that his opponent tonight would be...Johnny Smith!

[If Wight wins, he gets a title shot.]
P. Wight pinned J. Smith with the Showstopper in 16:01.
Rating: *** 1/4
[Elix Skipper interfered against Johnny Smith.]

Notes: As the two men stared down, Elix Skipper joined the commentators at ringside. Wight got the early power advantage over the former AJPW star, but after a few near falls early on, Wight tried too early for the Showstopper, and Smith was able to hit a huge belly-to-belly suplex after elbowing out of the Choke Slam! Smith that went on the attack, trying to wear down the monster Wight with a variety of suplexes and strikes, but every couple of minutes Wight would hit a huge power move to regain the momentum. Elix continued to lounge at ringside, saying insults at both men. But, near the end just when it looked like Smith might get the upset after a huge German suplex, Elix went on the apron and after dropping something out of his pockets in the corner of the ring motioned referee Alison Green over to him. As he tried to talk to the young referee, Wight came over and grabbed the 'slapjack' and nailed Skipper with it! Elix at this time gave Alison a piece of paper and jumped off the apron. But, Smith kicked out at 2.8! However, just a moment later Wight hit the Showstopper to get the win to a big round of boo's from the Buffalo crowd.

After Wight left the ring, Smith got up to leave the ring when he was attacked from behind by Skipper! 'Prime Time' hit his Play of the Day finisher on Johnny and then took the mic and said it was a 'crime against nature' that Elix wasn't on top of the crowd 'drawing thousands upon thousands' of fans for the TSW. Because it was 'Prime Time Baby' and if the crowd didn't like it maybe 'they should get your fat, overweight asses off from the TV with your bucket of lard and go to the gym!'

The Godfather pinned Joel Maximo with the Pimp Drop in 6:16.
Rating: * 1/2

Notes: Clash between two tag team compeitors as both men look to get an impressive win here. Godfather though just dominates the match from bell-to-bell as he hits a series of power moves on the small Maximo brother. Joel hits a few quick moves to stop the punishment, but in the end eats a Pimp Drop as The Godfather serves notice he may have his 'Ho's', but he's stil is very dangerous.

Backstage we go, as Wight walks into Angle's locker room and tells him that he's going to leave him alone, because next week he wants Kurt 100% so Angle 'can't bitch and whine how I kicked your ass from pillar to post.'

Cibernetico pinned J. Rave with the CiberBomb in 11:26.
Rating: *** 3/4

Notes: Very good match as Ciber brought his lucha offense against Rave's hybried offense and the result was a back and forth match between two evenly match competitors. The two men traded high impact manuevers early including a big spinning DDT by Rave for a near falls followed up by a fujiwara armbar by 'XTC'. Ciber came back by reversing a spinning DDT and went ultra-heel on the young Rave choking out him out repeatedly before tossing him to the outside! After a quick beatdown on the outside, Ciber tossed Rave inside and went for the Gorilla Press, but Rave slid down his back and hit a huge tiger suplex for a near fall! ave then went for a Shining Wizard, but Ciber using his veteran presence blocked it and hit the Gorilla Press and got a 2.8 count! After another minute of back and forth fighting, Ciber his a kick to the gut and a CiberBomb out of nowhere for the pin!

[Everyone Banned From Ringside!]
Mark Henry and Gabriel battled to a draw in 20:00.
Rating: ** 1/4

Notes: Decent, if not bland match between the high-flier Gabriel and the powerful Mark Henry. Henry dominated the early portion of the match, but just couldn't put away Gabriel even after a huge powerslam which got a near-fall. Anytime it looked like Henry was about to put the nail in the coffin, Gabriel rose to the occasion and hit a big high-impact reversal of top rope manuever to get a brief reprise. In the end, Henry just didn't have the killer instinct to get the win and the match went to another draw, this time without the massive chaos. Not quite as fun.

The Wall pinned Erik Watts after a powerslam in 9:36.
Rating: 3/4*

Notes: The Wall was not a happy camper last week especially after seeing Bubba Ray was in the area last week. As a result, poor Erik Watts was just fed to the monster German. Watts put up a decent fight, but The Wall was just nasty choking out and tossing to the outside Erik everytime the fans began to cheer for Watts. Watts got a bit of offense with a flying clothesline and fisherman's suplex mixed with the brawling, but The Wall simply shrugged away those moves and hit a nasty lariat followed by two huge powerslams to get the win!

As the crowd chanted for Bubba Ray after the match, The Wall picked up Watts and choke slammed him to the mat! As the crowd continued to chant for the stuttering Dudley, The Wall hit another one and then screamed 'SHUT UP OR I DESTROY THE BUG AT MY FEET!' As the crowd continued to boo and chant for Bubba, The Wall went for a third chokeslam, but TSW Security came out and broke it up, then _HANDCUFFED_ The Wall and took him out of the building, saying Ewiak had decided he shouldn't be allowed in the building while Bubba was wrestling!

We then went backstage to see Don Frye with a briefcase knocking on The New Nation's locker room. One of 'The Ho's' answered barely clothed and led one half of the number one contender's inside. What could be in that briefcase?

Ken Shamrock and Perry Saturn defeated Bubba Ray Dudley and Kurt Angle when Shamrock made Bubba submit to an armbar submission in 0:21:45.
Rating: *** 1/2

Notes: Intense, heated match between four of the top stars in TSW. Saturn and Shamrock, used to teaming in TSW had the advantage early over Bubba Ray, but the Dudley family member fought back impressivly as he was kept in the ring early in the match before Bubba hit a huge backdrop and tagged in Angle! From there, the next part of the match was a huge brawl with all four men in and out quickly before Angle and Saturn decided to have a little war including a huge flying elbowdrop through a table by Saturn onto the TSW Champ! Angle came back though and after nearly seven minutes of battling with Perry, hit a huge German Suplex and tagged in Bubba! From there, the match degenerated into a half brawl/half beatdown session as late Shamrock kept Bubba trapped on the heel side of the ring. That is, until Angle got the tag late and went hog wild as the crowd heat just ratched up another notch from 'insane' to 'molten' as Kurt took out his frustrations on Shamrock. But then Saturn hit the ring which led to bubba making it even and the war was back on! Ref Mike Allen lost control of who was legal so when Shamrock slapped an armbar submission on Bubba and made him tap, they picked up the win to a big heel reaction! Angle was shocked outside, as he was still the legal man and took out his frustration by sending Saturn through the timekeeper's table with an Angle Slam!

Don Frye and Steve Armstrong defeated Pentagon and Psicosis when Frye defeated
Pentagon when Pentagon passed out in the Cross Armbar Submission in 16:38.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Don Frye and Steve Armstrong won the TSW Tri-State Tag Titles.)
[The Godfather and Mark Henry interfered against Psicosis.]

Notes: Great, great match as the two distinct styles of both teams bled together to create a heated battle for the TSW Tri-State titles. As the match began, the two teams were evenly matched as Psicosis took it to the mat with Frye, proving Don wasn't the only technical powerhouse in the ring. Early on, the match was a series of quick tags and basic feeling-out between the four men. Frye locked in his Cross Armbar early, but Psicosis was able to get it out of it fairly quickly and tag in Pentagon. First real high spot was five-six minutes in when Psicosis missed the Flying Legdrop, but suckered in Armstrong and managed to keep the match even. Both men battled to the outside,, but still was nobody was able to get the advantage as both mens traded near falls and big moves as the crowd stayed hot. The first true near finish was when Pentagon hit a big dropkick to block an Armstrong flying shoulderblock and hit the ASAI MOONSAULT O' DOOM for the certain win until Frye made the save! This was after nearly thirteen minutes of action as Pentagon then went for a flying cross body, but Armstrong threw Frank Grey in the way and Pentagon took out the ref by accident! This led to Don Frye coming in the ring, but no Psicosis. Why? Well, as the ref went down The New Nation jogged to ringside and pulled Psic out of the ring, attacking him outside! As Henry & The Godfather hit two huge splashes on Psic, Pentagon was worked over in the corner by both Frye & Armstrong. As the ref recovered, unaware of what happened, Frye locked in the Cross Armbar and after nearly a minute, called the match as Pentagon was gone!

Show ended with the crowd booing the hell out of Frye & Armstrong holding up their ill begotton titles in the air!

it's never a good sign when someone comes to help commentate for a match.  It ALWAYS leads to trouble.  ;)

pregnant dog!  LOL  that's so Big Show like.

you ban them all from ringside and they go to a time limit draw ... nothing like continuation of a feud that still has no closure.

Wall is very destructive.  Shame he had to be cuffed and stuffed for his own good.

boy did Ref Mike Allen blow that match for Angle.

new tag team champions!  wow!  What evil dudes that attacked Psicosis.  I hope he gets his revenge on them.
