jesse_ewiakPosted on 04/28/04 at 21:51:24

Show started out with a musical montage of the various competitors in the TSW Title tournmanet. It ended on the 'fifteen pounds of gold' that is the TSW Heavyweight Title.

[Round 1]:
Paul Wight pinned Jimmy Rave with the Showstopper in 23:01.
Rating: ** 1/4

Notes: Long, drawn out match that shouldn't have been givenhalf the time it was. Though, by the end, Rave was defintley more over than he was going in. In the end though, he ate Wight's choke slam and 'The Big Nasty' is off to the semifinals.

[Round 1]:
Ken Shamrock defeated Psicosis when Psicosis passed out in the Ankle Lock Submission in 14:15.
Rating: **** 1/4

Notes: Great, great match as Psicosis threw everything he had at Shamrock, but the former 'Most Dangerous Man in the World' picked his spots and hits several high impact submissions to wear down the lucha star. Near the end, Psicosis hit a few high impact top rope moves for near falls, but Shamrock was able to hit the YAZUKA kick out of nowhere and lock on the guilotine choke, followed by the Ankle Lock O' Doom to make Psic pass out.

[Round 1]:
Perry Saturn pinned Shark Boy with the Death Valley Driver in 12:47.
Rating: *** 1/2

Notes: Shark Boy tried, he really did. But, Saturn was just too much on a roll to be stopped by a guy that wore Hulk hands to the ring. Highlights of the match included Saturn choknig out SB with cable wire, and getting a near fall early off a huge T-Bone-ish suplex. Shark Boy hit a few spots, but got nailed by a takeover suplex and frog splash in quick succession that got his neck compressed with the DVD as Saturn moved on to Round 2.

[Round 1]:
Kurt Angle made Steve Armstrong submit to the Ankle Lock in 22:49.
Rating: **** 1/4

Notes: Awesome back and forth match with Armstrong dominating early with an array of old-school brawling and several suplexes while Angle fought back with his style of submissions and suplexes. Angle thoght he had the match won at about the fifteen minute mark with the triple German spot but Armstrong kicked out at 2.9 to a big heel pop! Near the end, Armstrong got a near fall off a tiger suplex, and then went up top for the Flying Dropkick, but Angle popped up and threw Steve to the mat and locked on the Ankle Lock for the submission!

After the break, it was announced Rave & Maximo would face Frye & Armstrong next week in a 30 minute Iron Man match!

[Semi-Finals]:
Ken Shamrock made Paul Wight submit to a kneelock submission in 11:51.
Rating: ***

Notes: Heel-heel match led to a tepid match reaction, but Wight and Shamrock tried to get the crowd into it via pure violence including several spots where a double countout looked eminent. Wight was able to power out of an Ankle Lock early after being locked in it for thirty seconds, but just a couple minutes later Shamrock slapped on a kneelock submission to get the upset and submission!

[Semi-Finals]:
Kurt Angle pinned Perry Saturn after a flying forearm in 8:26.
Rating: *** 1/4

Notes: Quick, decent, high impact match between Angle and Saturn as the two traded suplexes early on before Angle hit a huge belly-to-belly suplex from the top to get the advantage for the rest of the match. Angle locked in the Ankle Lock late, but Saturn managed to get to the ropes late. Saturn then tried for a lariat but Angle ducked and hit a flying forearm fro the flash pin!

A break, then another match announced for next week...Paul Wight v. Shark Boy! Slight size mismatch there.

[Finals]: Match for the vacant TSW Heavyweight Title:
Kurt Angle made Ken Shamrock submit to the Ankle Lock in 27:52.
Rating: *****
(Kurt Angle won the TSW Heavyweight Title.)

Notes: Back and forth match early as the two submission specalists traded suplexes early on, with Shamrock hitting a Frankensteiner for near fall, but Angle came right back with an enzuigiri out of nowhere as the match went to the ground for a bit. Angle got the advantage and hit a huge slingshot for a near fall!

Slight brawl out of that with Angle reversing a 'rana into a huge power bomb for another two count, before Angle tosses Ken outside. With the match spilling to the outside, Shamrock was able to get the advantage with a huge suplex into the railing that busted Angle right open!

Shamrock then threw Angle in the ring and locked on the Ankle Lock O' Doom! The former Olympic Gold Medalist held out though, getting to the ropes after about thrity five seconds. Then, as Kurt was pulled up by Shamrock he hit a huge suplex then went wild on Shamrock stomping a mudhole in Shamrock as Ken slumped in the corner!

From there, another brawl broke out as the two suplex mavens went fist to fist, fighting for control. Shamrock though got the advantage by taking it back to the mat with a takedown followed up by a leg hammerlock! The two finalists fought for control and the action spilled to the outside again as both men rolled out of the ring entangeled! Both men got quickly inside, but Kurt hit a huge DDT out of nowhere, then slapped on the Ankle Lock! Shamrock tried to fight it, but after about fifteen seconds...Shamrock tapped!

As the fans popped huge, Ewiak presented Kurt with the Heavyweight Title as Angle went to the second rope and held up the gold to the fans as we went to black!

Card rating: ****

Angle vs Shamrock in the finals!  That so rules!  they have really worked well for me as a tag team.  And it looks like they work well as opponents as well, seeing how they pulled out a ***** in 27+ minutes for you.

Loved sheer violence thoughts to get the crowd into the heel vs heel match too.
