Match observations:

With the countdown to Revenge is Sweet well in progress, the favourite for the
title, Jerry Lynn, isn't about to be outdone by any of his opponents. Last
weeks huge Gore from Rhyno had apparently left Lynn injured. Rhyno boasted this
before his match and proclaimed himself the next world champion. No such luck,
a victory later and as Rhyno celebrated, Jerry Lynn popped up to remind him
just why he is the favourite - the small matter of injured ribs not about to
keep the a man as unhinged as Lynn out of action.

The evenings main event featured four more title hopefuls as Chris Benoit lead
Triple Threat against three men who are vying for that title and thus had no
reason to get along. Still, Dynamite Kid hates Benoit and the two will meet in
the first round. Rob Van Dam doesn't like Benoit, as they recently battled on
more than one occassion, with RVD coming out on top. Test too doesn't like
Benoit, having beaten him a few weeks ago but been robbed of claiming the title
due to outside interference. Still, Benoit finally got the better of Test,
claiming the fall at his expense via the Crossface, which Benoit is promising
will get him back the heavyweight title. Benoit is also up for a record
breaking fifth world title reign, so there's some added motivation for him, if
he didn't need it already.

Dean Malenko might not be in line for the world title, but has got his sights
set on Intercontinental champion Sean O'Haire. O'Haire took a defeat this past
Tuesday in the tag team match to Curt Hennig and Hennigs reward was a shot at
O'Haire today, but it was all for nought as O'Haire ploughed through him to
score the win. O'Haire was confronted afterwards by Dean Malenko who claimed
that since O'Haire didn't pin him at Canadian Stampede (the fact that O'Haire
was going to, bar more interference, obviously escaped him) he was deserving
of a title shot. O'Haire seems more than up for it, seeing as he has a few
scores to settle with Malenko. Malenko had what he wanted, but tried to ride
his luck further by goading O'Haire into a fight. O'Haire took up the
challenge and wasted no time taking out Malenko.

Like Hennig, Steve Corino had earned himself a title shot after pinning a
reigning champion in a tag team match. He took on Bobby Eaton and was widely
expected to take the win and the title. Not so. Corino ran up to Eaton to
deliver the Old School Explusion, but Eaton was able to counter with a hotshot,
followed by the Alabama Jam to score the upset. As he celebrated, he didn't
notice Billy Kidman entering the ring to jump him from behind, and pretty
soon he was two on one down, until Raven made the save. Still, not good
momentum for Corino who has fast become a dark horse to win the title at
Revenge is Sweet and with Kidman in the mix too, there are plenty of people to
choose from.

Raven suffered a rare loss today meanwhile. Taking on fellow title hopeful Don
Muraco, it looked like Raven might finally be the man to have Muracos number.
He didn't manage to take him off his feet, but did have him reeling until Jeff
Hardy popped onto the apron to mace Raven, allowing Muraco to hit the
Tombstone and get the win. Muraco later proclaimed himself the next world
champion and with the inability of just about everyone to beat him, he may well
be on to something.

Chris Jericho has been victim of two recent losses and needed to win today to
really establish himself as a viable champion, despite the fact he previously
won the title and held it for a long time. Victory did come over Ken Shamrock
and Jericho was quick to announce that yes indeed, he would be the next world
champion. First in his way is Kurt Angle, whom Jericho made no secret of the
fact that he wanted to embarass Angle in their match. He even made a start of
it today, distracting Angle during his match, causing Angle a surprise loss to
one Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Chavos win sparked more one upmanship between the Guerreros. Eddie was high on the fact he beat Essa Rios today but was shocked when Chavo strolled in and
announced he'd just gotten a far bigger victory when he beat Angle. Chavo now
firmly believes he's the more skillful, more popular, better looking and more
marketable (and all round superior) of the Guerreros.

Finally Los Villanos got a token win today over the Mean Street Posse. That'll
probably be it for wins now, but oh well...
