TSW Card #6 - Ashtabula, OH - 'Double or Nothing'

jesse_ewiakPosted on 04/19/04 at 03:04:23

Open the show to hype and such about the qualifying matches, but then Dollar and Peso come out to a tepid heel reaction and start to rant about not recieving a fair title shot and such when Psic's music hits and out comes the champs!

Pentagon and Psicosis defeated Dollar and Peso when Psicosis pinned Peso after a flying spinning leg lariat in 2:40.
Rating: * 3/4
(Pentagon and Psicosis retained the TSW Tri-State Tag Titles.)

Notes: Total demolition job by the tag champs as they back up their standing as the top tag team in TSW by taking out the two enemy luchadores with no problems at all!

However, as both men make their way back to the locker room...PEARL HARBOR! The New Nation attack from the crowd and we got a brawl! Referees and road agents break it up as both Henry and The Godfather motion that they want the belts!

Triangle Match:
Perry Saturn defeated Jimmy Rave and Elix Skipper:
x Skipper beat Rave via a top-rope Frankensteiner in 10:17
x Saturn beat Skipper via the Death Valley Driver in 22:11
Rating: ****

Notes: Awesome match, as early on Saturn beats on Skipper and Rave with virtually no problems. That is, until Skipper knocks Saturn loopy with a Play of the Day on the outside! Back in the ring, Skipper and Rave play spot-o-rama, but Skipper gets the duke by hitting a top-rope Frankensteiner to eliminate the sometime tag team partner of Joel Maximo. From there, the crowd is split as it's heel-heel, but decides they hate Saturn more, and goes to Skipper's side. Elix gets several near falls, but in the end, falls to a sick-looking DVD for the pin!

Triangle Match:
Paul Wight defeated Joel Maximo and Johnny Smith:
x Wight beat J. Smith via the Showstopper in 15:33
x Wight beat Joel Maximo via countout in 16:51
Rating: * 1/2

Notes: Yeah, sixteen minutes of basically a handicap match as Smith & Maximo tried to take out one of the odds on favorite's for the title early. However, that was not to be as Wight finally got his act together around the ten-minute mark and dominated from there, choke slamming Smith out of the match, then simply throwing Maximo out of the ring and lighting up a cigarette as the ref counted out Maximo!

Triangle Match:
Kurt Angle defeated Ken Shamrock and Gabriel:
x Shamrock beat Gabriel via Ankle Lock Submission in 23:33
x K. Angle beat Shamrock via a German suplex in 32:25
Rating: **** 1/2

Notes: Another near-classic as the suplex stylings of Angle, submission based offense of Shamrock and spot-tasticness of Gabriel melded together in a match the crowd popped great for. Early on, Gabriel nearly got several close pins but both Angle & Shamrock were able to avoid embarassment. However, after many many suplexes and rana's, Shamrock was finally able to lock Gabriel in the center of the ring and made the archangel tap out! From there, there was brief, high-impact sprint between Angle and Shamrock to see who would move on to the #1 seeding match. Angle was able to hit his triple German combo and pick up the win as the crowd gave the men a standing ovation!

We then moved to the back where Henry & The Godfather went face to face with the tag champs again and challenged them for next week! Psicosis responded, "Si, but it is non-title."

Triangle Match:
Jimmy Rave defeated Gabriel and Johnny Smith:
x Rave beat J. Smith via disqualification in 0:05:34
x Rave beat Gabriel via the Satellite Crossface in 0:08:11
Rating: *** 1/4
[Steve Armstrong interfered against Jimmy Rave.]

Notes: Quick, short, high-impact match as the young stars of TSW took center-stage with a veteran to reign them in. Smith seemingly had the advantage early, but it was not to be as Rave hit a huge TIGER SUPLEX to get back the advantage. Out of nowhere though, Steve Armstrong came in the ring and attacked Rave, leading to Smith's DQ! Johnny was fuming as he walked to the back. Then, one quick sequence later, Rave was able to lock on the Satellite Crossface out of nowhere to move on to the tournament!

Triangle Match:
Ken Shamrock defeated Joel Maximo and Elix Skipper:
x Skipper beat Joel Maximo via a power bomb in 0:06:11
x Shamrock beat Skipper via a Frankensteiner in 0:11:09
Rating: *** 1/4

Notes: Fatigue began to settle in here as Shamrock barely survived the opening moments after just being in a thrity minute war only a commercial and short match ago. Skipper
came to his aid and took out Maximo early with a huge power bomb! Then, Elix went right after the UFC legend, but Shamrock simply refused to die. Then, as Skipper went to set-up the Play of the Day, Shamrock got out of the move and hit a shock Frankensteiner to pick up the win! Skipper sat in the ring, stunned as Shamrock walked to the back, happy his day was done.

Backstage, we see Wight talking to Saturn before they both notice the camera and push it away.

[For #1 seed]:
Paul Wight defeated Kurt Angle and Perry Saturn:
x Wight beat Saturn via a headbutt in 1:35
x Wight beat K. Angle via a headbutt in 5:25
Rating: **

Notes: Saturn takes a dive early falling to the headbutt, allowing Wight to beat up on a fatigued Angle and pick up the relatively easy win. After the match, Wight went for the Showstopper, but Angle was able to hit a low blow and huge Angle Slam!

Barbed Wire Baseball Bat Match:
The Wall pinned Bubba Ray Dudley after a powerslam in 4:08.
The Wall suffered a neck injury. He will be out for approximately 1 card.
Rating: * 1/2

Notes: Shorter match than expected as The Wall takes a bad bump off a suplex and the match immediatly goes to the finish after a powerslam.

To fill up time, Johnny Smith came out with his tag partner Erik Watts and complained how a know-nothing idiot like Armstrong has ruined Johnny's chances. Ewiak came out again and announced their would be a modified Royal Rumble-style match next week to determine who would be in the #8 spot!

NEXT WEEK!

Love the camera work with Wight and Saturn :)

And Last Chance Gulch has a lot of potential with 11 men in one ring for one final spot.

And what is up with Armstrong interfering?  what a way to make friends ;)

Unlike WWE, my wrestlers notice the damn camera! :-)

Who ends up winning and how turns out very interesting.

Armstrong's pissed his brother actually was successful.
