TSW Card #5 - Youngstown, Ohio - 'Random Chances'

jesse_ewiakPosted on 04/19/04 at 03:02:55

Show opened with TSW "board member" Jesse Ewiak announcing the quallification for the TSW Heavyweight Tournmant will begin with a 'lethal lottery' style tag match...right now! A tumbler was brought out and the first two names drawn were PSICOSIS and SHARK BOY! Then, the next two picked and they were KEN SHAMROCK and CIBERNETICO!

[Qualifier - Winner's get in Heavyweight Title Tournament]:
Psicosis and Shark Boy defeated Cibernetico and Ken Shamrock when Psicosis pinned Cibernetico with the Flying Legdrop in 28:17.
Rating: **** 1/2

Notes: Awesome, awesome back-and-forth match as the heel team continually tried to use their size advantage to keep the match grounded and slow, but Shark Boy kept on kicking out and hitting big enough moves while Psicosis broke up many pinfalls as the crowd really got into the match. Spot of the match was Shark Boy hitting the Dead Sea Drop on Ciber only for Shamrock to break up the count at 2.9! That brought in Psicosis, who hit a huge leg lariat that knocked Shammy right out of the ring. A few minutes later, Psicosis finished off Cibernetico with the Flying Legdrop and we have our first two surprisng entrants in the tournment!

Johnny Smith pinned Perry Saturn with the Fisherman Suplex in 10:59.
Rating: *** 1/4

Notes: Another good match as the AJPW veteran Smith and former Radical Saturn met up in a hard-hitting suplex-heavy match with several near falls. Smith kicked out of the DVD late and that caused Perry to get upset, charging into a corner too late allowing Smith to take control and hit the Fisherman's Suplex a few moments later for the upset pin!

Jimmy Rave and Joel Maximo defeated Elix Skipper and Steve Armstrong when Joel Maximo defeated Skipper by disqualification in 18:12.
Rating: *** 1/2

Notes: Rave & Maximo met two tough wrestlers tonight, but not a team. While Skipper and Armstrong are both impressive, they aren't a team and the two lightweights took advantage of that, using heavy double-teaming to dominate the match. Skipper got frustrated and brought a chair in the ring, drawing a DQ! Brawl after the match led nowhere but continued heat between the two teams.

[If Dollar wins, he & Peso get title shot]:
Dollar and Pentagon battled to a draw in 20:00.
Rating: ** 1/2

Notes: OK match here, but nothing special as Dollar & Peso aren't getting very good reactions at all from the crowd. After the match went to a draw, Dollar attacked the ref! That led to Pentagon coming back in and brawling with the fellow luchadore!

Bubba Ray Dudley defeated The Wall by disqualification in 11:28.
Rating: * 1/4

Notes: OK brawl, as both men were hampered by the fact they couldn't use weapons. Back-and-forth match as Wall hit his Choke Slam, but Bubba got his foot on the ropes. That led to The Wall trying to choke out Bubba as the ref called for the DQ! Show ends on the Usual Gang trying to get The Wall off of Bubba!

ANNOUNCED FOR NEXT WEEK!

now THAT's a really different way of doing the qualifier matches!  :)  I like it.

And what a way to kick off this week's card with the random match.  And the main event... can't wait until card #6 for the rematch with the weapon of choice.. Barbie!

Yeah, figured it be better than the standard tourney format.

Yeah, unfortunaly as you seen The Wall was his usual uncorridnated self and f'd himself up before ole' Barbie could even be used.
