TSW Card #4 - Wheeling, West Virginia - 'Rising He

jesse_ewiakPosted on 04/15/04 at 04:30:51

Show started from black into the two teams in the main event brawling, before it was broken up by the Usual Gang of Idiots, before Elix Skipper came over in full ref gear and told them that he'd disqualify Bubba & Angle for 'instigating.' Heel pop for that.

[Lucha Rules]: Two-out-of-three-Falls Match:
Cibernetico, Don Frye and Steve Armstrong drew
Shark Boy, Joel Maximo and Jimmy Rave:
x Rave beat Cibernetico via a German suplex in 27:37
x Frye beat Rave via the Cross Armbar Submission in 42:57
Rating: **** 1/4

Notes: Yup, you read that right. Forty five minutes of action between six men who brung th hate to fire up the Wheeling crowd. Tons of dives, near falls, and high impact started us off before a nearly six-minute long heat segment on Maximo brought the crowd to their feet chanting for a tag! Rave managed to get the tag and the pin a few minutes later on Ciber with a huge suplex. More tags and near falls were the rule of the day before Frye managed to trap Rave in his Cross Armbar finisher. Rave, knowing the time limit was close tried to hang on, but after being in the hold for a minute, had to tap. Match went to the draw with all six men brawling.

Pentagon pinned Mark Henry with the Asai Moonsault in 12:41.
Rating: **

Notes: Pentagon met the challenge of Mark Henry early here, and managed to push him back down the ladder of contendership by hitting the move that has become the TSW's version of the Diamond Cutter...his Asai Moonsault. He has managed to hit it anywhere at anytime on anybody. Godfather tried to run-in afterwards, but Psic was immediatly there to dissuade him with a large lead pipe!

Erik Watts and Johnny Smith defeated Dollar and Peso when J. Smith pinned Peso with the Fisherman Suplex in 12:55.
Rating: * 1/2

Notes: OK match, as Dollar & Peso tried to earn themself a tag title short only to fall against the capable team of Watts & Smith. With an impressive win here, they have to be close to a shot at the titles.

Ken Shamrock defeated Gabriel when Gabriel passed out in a guillotine choke in 4:12.
Rating: ***

Notes: After beating Frye last week, TSW officials gave the young high-flier Gabriel a shot at another MMA competitor and this week, Gabe feel short, being dominated by Shamrock as he was easily was overmatched and walked into a guillotine choke and tapped out.

Match with Special Referee Elix Skipper:
Paul Wight and The Wall defeated Kurt Angle and Bubba Ray Dudley when The Wall pinned Bubba with the Choke Slam in 30:23.
Rating: ** 3/4

Notes: Long, long match as everyone but Angle was blown up by the end and tagging out frequently. Good, spirited brawl though as Skipper played his heel role to perfection, counting a little quicker for Wight & The Wall and threataning to DQ Bubba for using closed fists...which is 65% of his offense. Wall gets the pin with the Choke Slam in the end but Angle takes out Skipper after the match in retribrution.
