Great card.  I think I predicted all the winners right except one.  Terry Funk and Sting was a classic, and I had a feeling La Parka would retain the title.  Now that everyone ended their matches being best friends, some new heels are going to have to step up in the ranks...

King Kong Bundy  ;)
Critic_of_the_DawnPosted on 04/13/04 at 20:18:42

Excellent supercard.  It's a shame that Cactus vs. La Parka only got 12 minutes.  For big main events like this, I'll generally book how long I want the match to go without choosing a winner.  That preserves the unpredictability while giving you the chance to put on some truly epic matches.

Speaking of epic matches, congrats to the Funker for his excellent victory over Sting.  Seems to me that Funk is due for a title shot after this high profile win.  Also, like TecmoNick said, you need more heels in the main event.  Bundy seems like a natural choice, simply because he's been totally dominant since day 1.

Eric "Critic of the Dawn"
rgarrardPosted on 04/14/04 at 01:36:05

All I can say is it was a good thing I didn't predict this card myself.  :)

Well.. with Bundy and Orndorff running wild once again as the predominant heels in the company, one could assume that they would both be in line for a shot.

And who says that Sting and Funk are friends?  ;)  More on that situation on future cards, as Funk never did get to do what he wanted to do with Sting thanks to the Players attack from behind.

La Parka and Cactus have been friends for some time in the circuit, so it merely made sense for that ending.

The main event time length was that of a WWF old school... whereas the undercard would get all the time to shine while the main event would just be what it was... a short send them home happy moment.

I have to point out... there is a specific pattern to the bigger cards within BCW and the old school rules.  Basically it starts with week 2, and every 6th card there after... (i.e. 8, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44) is a big card.  The one exception is week 49 as in order to keep continuity going and to have the same number of weeks between big cards I had to take away a week between big cards for the final of the year and the first of the following year.

Also I have to point out what major card similarities BCW and the old school rules have since we have almost completed one full year's worth of both.

Week 2:  Tag Team Tourney = NWA's Crockett Cup
Week 8:  Singles Tourney = WWE's King of the Ring
Week 14:  End of Feuds = WWF's SummerSlam/NWA's Great American Bash
Week 20:  WarGames = NWA's WarGames
Week 26:  Walk of Life = WWE's Survivor Series
Week 32:  Twisted Steel = NWA's Halloween Havoc
Week 38:  RumbleWar = WWE's Royal Rumble
Week 44:  Breaks Loose = WCW's Uncensored
Week 49:  BattleClash = WWE's WrestleMania/NWA's StarrCade

That having been said, I have one more week worth of year 1 old school rules to publish later this weekend.  And once those are published... the rules schedule will probably be cut back to about once every two weeks, so that I can devote more time to bringing BCW to the fans!  :)

It's been a great ride so far with BCW... by far probably my favorite circuit to write up because of all the twists and turns that it has taken thus far!
