NAWF - Week 3 [Revenge]

TecmoNickPosted on 04/11/04 at 18:39:57

This was my favorite week of the first three.  A lot of surprises, and it really helped build things for the future...

Rating: * 3/4

This was turning into a great match. A lot of counters and high risk manuevers. But M-Dogg suprisingly tossed the official over the top rope, which the fans went crazy for. Spellbinder picks up the win, but M-Dogg really dominated in this one.

Ken Shamrock came out pumped, and we got to see a Shamrock we havn't seen yet in the NAWF. He dominated from the bell and Arn Anderson didn't stand a chance.

Al Snow and Brian Pillman vs. ?? ??

[Al Snow and Pillman come to the ring to a huge pop...]

Pillman: "Last week we got eliminated from the tag title tournament. But come on, we don't have any regrets. Did you see Al moonsault out onto the floor like that?

[Pillman gives Al a wierd look and shrugs...]

Pillman: "In order to prove that we have what it takes to dominate in the NAWF, we challenge any team from the back to come out here. And you better believe that me and Al are ready to show..."

[Before he can finish we see Chris Jericho and Lance Storm appear on the entrance ramp!!]

This was an excellent match. I was surprised to see the Thrillseekers answer the challenge, but what a great opponent for Pillman and Snow. These two teams should build up a great fued.

The Undertaker pinned Val Venis with the Last Ride in 0:07:16.
Rating: ** 1/4

Didn't want to have to have a face vs. face match, but in order to get everyone on the card I had to. TNM gave me exactly what I wanted in this one, a squash from The Undertaker. Him and Edge need to rebound from their recent tag matches. Edge is gonna get a shot at Ric Flair later tonight.

Shelton Benjamin vs. Mike Awesome

[Mike Awesome goes for a back suplex, but Shelton Benjamin blocks it.

Rating: * 1/4

Not as good of a match as I wanted between the two. I really think both of these guys can do well in the NAWF, so I used this match to see where they stood. Awesome comes up with the win, but Shelton should get another shot.

The verdict: A DOUBLE COUNTOUT !]

Ric Flair and Edge battled to a double countout in 0:12:38.
Rating: **

Although this match ended in a double countout, I was still happy with it. It really showed how bad these guys hate each other. Good effort from both guys, but the fued between Edge/Undertaker and Flair/Anderson is far from settled.

Rating: * 3/4

When you can make Vader tap out you have something going for you. Kendo Ka Shin is real dominant in TNM, and he just blitzed Vader. When Vader regained conciousness he started destroying equiptment around rigside before officlas could finally get him to the back.

Rating: ****

Wow, this same type of thing happened last week to Al Snow. High risk manuevers are not working out real well so far in the NAWF. This was match of the night, both men gave their all. Kendo Ka Shin came out after the match to check on Michaels. Once Michaels finally came to, he grabbed a mic...

Michaels: "You know something Sabu, you may have gotten the better of me tonight. But you know you were only seconds away from being carried out of here on a stretcher courtesy of H...B...K!"

[crowd goes nuts...]

Michaels: "How bout this chump? Next week, me and Kendo take on you and Vader one more time. Let's settle this thing once and for all. And trust me, next time you will hear the tune of Sweet Chin Music right across your face. Hit my music..."

Pondo with the Move of the Month in 0:10:04.
Rating: *** 1/4
(Adam Flash and Air Paris won the NAWF Tag Team Titles.)

New tag team champs, and this is only Week 3! Shawn and Sabu had match of the night until I saw this one. Both teams came out looking to kill. Although both teams are hell, the crowd clearly favored Rude and Pondo. Adam Flash and Air Paris are so cocky, but they really can back it up. I'm sure the new champs will have something to say next week.

Card rating: ** 1/2

I really liked this card. Some of the match ratings were not as high as I would have liked, but this week really helped me figure out where to go with a lot of guys. Let me know what you thought.

Next week we'll see Shawn Michaels and Kendo Ka Shin vs. Vader and Sabu...if Vader and Sabu except that is...

I liked this card as this is one of the few times in an old school rules fed where on week 3 the tag titles have changed hands.  It's been very rare so far for this to happen, but it is perfect for your fed.  :)

You've got this one definitely headed in the right direction... now onto week 4.
