AWF (Week 1)

Chad_SiskPosted on 02/20/04 at 18:11:05

This is the American Wrestling Federation, a company put together to face the WWF and NWA/WCW. Some huge names were picked up and all hope is resting on the first few weeks of cards. Using the Old School Rules so tell me what you think.

[Main Event]:
Hulk Hogan defeated Harley Race by disqualification in 0:12:20.
Rating: **
[Bobby Heenan interfered against Hulk Hogan.]

Hogan picks up the DQ win after some interference from
Bobby Heenan. Look for a rematch sometime down the road.

Demolition defeated Terry Gordy and Steve Williams when Ax pinned T. Gordy
after the Demolition Decapitation in 0:16:30.
Rating: *** 1/2

Two great tag teams fought it out tonight with
Demolition coming out on top. A great crowd response
for Demolition.

First Blood No-Countout-No-DQ-Match:
Cactus Jack and Jerry Lawler battled to a no contest in 0:12:05.
Rating: ***

Lawler and Jack both make eachother bleed at the same time
causing a no contest. A 12 minute war.

The Ultimate Warrior pinned Dino Bravo with the Big Splash in 0:11:37.
Rating: ** 1/4

The Warrior looked impressive in this 11 minute win.
Bravo falls victim to the Big Splash. The crowd was strongly
behind Warrior for this match.

Jimmy Snuka and Jake Roberts defeated Ted DiBiase and John Studd when J. Snuka
defeated DiBiase by countout in 0:20:59.
Rating: ** 3/4
[Virgil interfered against Jimmy Snuka.]

The odd team of Roberts and Snuka picks up the win after
DiBiase gets counted out. So much for buying Big John Studd
for the match as he was a non factor.

The Great Muta pinned Greg Valentine with the Moonsault in 0:11:51.
Rating: ** 1/4
[Mr. Fuji interfered against Greg Valentine.]

In a heel-heel match that pitted the wits of Bobby Heenan
and Mr. Fuji, Muta picks up the win over the Hammer in an impressive
match.

The Islanders defeated The Hart Foundation when Haku pinned B. Hart after
a flying headbutt in 0:17:58.
Rating: *** 1/2

A great 3.5 star match to start the first show. An upset win
for the Islanders. They look to be the on pace to win the title
if they can pick up a few more solid wins. The Foundation
will have to regroup after this loss.

Card rating: ** 3/4

Match observations:

A solid opening card for the AWF. With plenty of star power
stolen away from both the WWF and NWA the AWF looks to be
a big player in the future. The AWF looks to crown new
Tag Team Champs next week. Demolition and the Islanders
look to be the favorites. Also look for some interesting
combinations like Snuka and Roberts one again.

Good start, and as a fellow Old School Rules user, I'm glad to see another circuit like this start.  You have a good roster to start with too.

Are you booking, or not booking the finishes?

Pretty soon, we'll need to open up an Old School Rules forum the way everyone is starting to use them.

I only booked the Main Event Match. As I get more of  a feel for the circuit I want to book some more finishes and add more detail.

Love the roster.  I just started an old school rules circuit to test it out, and I used very similar wrestlers.

I agree, we may need to open a forum.  I think I may start posting soon...
