Regional Promotions

Jay93Posted on 05/02/03 at 17:51:56

Has anyone ever tried to mimic the old regional promotions from the 70's and 80's in TNM?  I'd like to setup a circuit where you have one champ (i.e Ric Flair in the 80's) tour different promotions defending his World Title against the top guy in the region. Is it possible to set something like that up in TNM?

Yeah, you just set in the options to disallow same wrestlers in different federations. It's pretty cool. We have a few of those going on the EZboards and some other places.

Here's my contribution to the regional territories from the 70's and 80's.

Probably have to copy and paste the above to the browser

I started in 1997, and then in Dec of 2002, my computer crashed   :'(  and lost everything from August on, so I have the title histories from 97 - 02.

At first,  I used everyone in TNM, then I changed to using guys and gals from 1960 - 1989.  I guess in 2000 is when I finally was getting some results I was looking for.  I also made some guys like Rip Oliver and Bobby Jaggers, Mr. Wrestling II, but I lost those in the crash, so I have to go back and watch some old tapes to get the move sets.

I'm going to start up again in June, but use only guys that wrestled between 1975 and 1989.  I also cut down on the number of territories and titles (no jr or women titles right now) just too time consuming right now.

I've already had my tournaments and the world champs are:  Rick Steamboat (NWA), Stan Hansen (AWA) and Hulk Hogan (WWF).

Major Titlists include Giant Baba (PWF), Dusty Rhodes (United States), Ric Flair (Missouri) and Andre the Giant (Intercontinental).

World Tag Champions:  Rock n Roll Express (NWA),  Badd Company (AWA), Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior (WWF)

Anyhow, I hope to get started  in June, and I'll post some of the major cards in my website.  I'm going to try this weekend to get the links for the new stuff up.

Hey Masked texan i am impressed with your website, I am running SCW a fantasy 70's/80's promotion and your
site has given me some Title ideas, keep up the good work

Thanks, Magister369, I look forward to seeing more of your SCW results.  Keep up the good work on your promotion!

I love the site Masked Texan!!  Thanks for providing some input on this topic.   :)

Thanks Jay93.   :)

For those who are interested, I've updated the site with the current champs that I'll be using this time around.  Also updated the ratings page, just for the heck of it.  ;D

Oh...almost forgot, here is the list of promotions I've updated....

All-Japan
Central States
Florida
AWA
WWF
Mid-Atlantic
Florida
Puerto Rico
Mid-South
Memphis
World Class
Pacific Northwest
St. Louis
Alabama

I'll update Indianapolis and Hawai'i when I determine champions for them at a later time.  I also plan to add the NWA World Champs title defense schedule for this coming month, in the next few days.

Masked Texan, how many promotions do you run on your TNM7, I tried to run several but it got out of hand for me, too many regional promotions to keep track of.
Masked_TexanPosted on 05/11/03 at 14:48:29

Hi Magister369, this is how I do it....

I run these promotions twice a week....

All-Japan
AWA
Central States
Continental
CWA
Florida
Mid-South
Pacific Northwest
World Class
World Championship
WWC
WWF

I run these every two weeks...

St. Louis

I run these once a month....

Indianapolis (WWA)
Hawai'i

So, for example, this is how the first week will look like..

June 1 - World Championship, Continental, World Class,  All-Japan

June 2 - Florida, CWA, Central States, AWA

June 3 - WWC, Mid-South, Pacific Northwest, WWF

June 4 - Same as June 1

June 5 - Same as June 2

June 6 - Same as June 3

June 7 - St. Louis

I typically run 28 day periods.  Then I'll take a couple of weeks break and start again.  I had to cut down on the number of promotions I had as well.  It can get very difficult to keep track of.  This time around, I cut out Southwest and New Zealand and also the Jr heavyweight and women titles.  I also cut down on the number of wrestlers I used, now each promotion uses about 20 wrestlers.   St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Hawaii, are the exceptions, where I just use the guys from the other promotions based on their ranking.

Magister369Posted on 05/11/03 at 23:44:38

Masked Texan do you run storylines as well, or just set cards with random promotional wrestlers, I try to run
1 tv show per week for angles, then 2-3 house shows.
Masked_TexanPosted on 05/12/03 at 06:27:54

I just run cards using the promotional wrestlers without storylines.  I typically book the matches based on the previous months performance, that way the guys who were on the lower end of the scale one month can wrestle against oppents of equal performance and move themselves up in contention for title matches the next month.

Masked_Texan,

You should make a website for all of your results. I would be quite interested in taking a look at your results. If I had the motivation, I would try to simulate the National Wrestling Alliance and their territories. It just seems too involved for me. (Plus, creating that many circuits in TNM, I'm sure my TNM would explode).

I do want to start using the legendary wrestlers that you use and mix them in with some of today's wrestlers. That seems like fun. I just can't get motivated to start a circuit anymore with today's wrestlers. I'll go watch an old NWA match and want to start a circuit with some of those guys.

Masked_TexanPosted on 05/17/03 at 04:23:36

HugeRockStar760....

I'll put up the first cards of each promotion when I start June 1.  I'll also be posting the super card results as well.

This coming month will be the Superdome Extravaganza, in New Orleans, LA, on June 6, with Rick Steamboat vs Jake Roberts for the NWA Title, then in Tokyo, June 11, Steamboat (if still champ), will face Shohei "Giant" Baba in Budoken Hall.

You're right, it does get a little involved, but I enjoy it, and I do take 2 weeks off after the month is over and start anew.   Right now, I've been watching some tapes, getting some move sets for the Batten Twins, The Grapplers, Bob Roop, Mr. Wrestling II, Bobby Jaggers, and Rip Oliver.
