David Crockett:  Here you see Tommy Rich getting all fired up in the middle of the ring.  And here is the Jawjacker from Tracey Smothers for the win this morning.  The Atlanta Boys are the winners.  Tommy and Tracey come on over and have a word with us if you will.  (Smothers and Rich make their way onto the set to talk with David Crockett)  It looks like the two of you make quite the tag team.

Tracey Smothers:  That's right David, we've been up and down the roads together and we have been facing guys like Steamboat, Patriot, and a lot of the other top guys around here.

David:  During your match this morning, you had Dusty Rhodes out here scouting the match and the Armstrongs were out here commentating during the match.  I know that you have had your problems in the past with the Armstrongs, Tommy.

Tommy Rich:  David, don't mention them no good Armstrongs from Marietta.  We don't like them much and they don't like us much either.  It's a Georgia thing David.  As for Rhodes, if he wants a piece of either of us, he knows which bar to find us at tonight up there in New York City after his match with our new World Champ The Funker.

David:  There you have it fans, sounds like it could be quite a night on Long Island tonight.  We'll be back after this time out.

Gordon Solie on the replay:  Bubba hit the offense early on the Pearl of the Orient, but it wasn't enough as Muta landed this moonsault for the three count.  Your winner The Great Muta.  Let's go to David standing by with Gary Hart, the Great Muta, and our new NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Terry Funk.
David:  Gary Hart, first off let me say congratulations to you and Terry Funk for doing the unthinkable last night.

Hart:  Thank you Mr. Crockett.  You showed the footage earlier and Mr. Dillon scurried out of here with his tail tucked between his legs like the weasel that he is.  I know that he is trying to do everything in his power to invoke the mandatory former champion rematch clause, but as it stands right now, Terry is set to take on Dusty Rhodes as his next opponent, not Ric Flair.  In fact, Terry is such a fighting champion, that he will in fact be defending this belt tonight at the Nassau Coliseum against Rhodes.

David:  That should be a great match.  Gary, last night [footage rolls of the team of Muta and Terry Taylor having the meltdown last night in Charlotte], Terry Taylor appeared to sever his ties to your group.

Hart:  That is correct, Mr. Taylor is no longer utilizing my services, in fact, this man [points to Muta] is going to try to put Terry Taylor out of the NWA for good.  Muta's quest begins tonight.

David:  Champ, do you have anything to say?

Terry Funk:  Dusty Rhodes, you've been playing with that musclehead Luger and you couldn't beat him for the United States Title.  Now you think you can beat ME for the NWA World Title?  No chance Rhodes.  We go WAY back... all the way back to Amarillo and you couldn't beat me then and you sure can't beat me now... even in New York City.  And with Gary Hart in my corner, I am going to keep this belt a LONG, long time.

Crockett:  There you have it fans, straight from the mouth of our new champion.  We'll be right back.

Very interesting read! This was the first card that I've read... and I'm interested to see what happens. It sounds like Sting & Arn Anderson may have some unfinished business... due to some lax officiating by Teddy Long.

Keep up the good work!

Wicked_Rex, since this is your first card of mine that you have read, you will most definitely want to go back to the start of this circuit and check out what brought us to this point.  It's been real interesting to say the least, especially since I am trying to be as old school realistic as one can possibly be with the way I am running house shows 7 days a week along with doing the Saturday morning TV.   Of course, Arn is one half of the NWA World Tag Team Champions with Tully Blanchard right now, and Sting has been teaming with Road Warrior Animal while Hawk is out nursing an injury.  This upcoming week's house shows have Animal and Sting facing Flair and Luger while Arn and Tully are facing the Steiners, so this TV main event was a nice little set up to get people to come out and see the matches this week at their local venues.  Of course, let's not forget all the other stuff on this show as well, since every thing has a purpose on my weekly TV taping.  ;)
wicked_rexPosted on 04/10/07 at 02:58:41

As it should! I plan on keeping up with it... just that one card got me hooked.
Rick GarrardPosted on 04/10/07 at 03:16:12

I do have to say this has been one of the tougher circuits to run just because of the mass quantity of coherent booking ahead that I have to do.  As it stands right now, I have cards booked on paper through the TV taping on June 24.  So basically I am booking anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks ahead at this point, as I am finding it is a LOT easier to book a main point and then fill in between with how to get there... i.e. WWE 4 PPV's a year style booking.  And sometimes nice little surprises pop up in between that I am not expecting like this week's gem of a match between Sting and the Enforcer.
wicked_rexPosted on 04/10/07 at 03:25:15

Yeah, I do my booking from week to week. I do three shows (RAW, ECW/Smackdown) It's a challenge, but I enjoy the hell out of it! I should probably get back to booking on paper... just because I had a lot of good ideas come that way.
The EmperessPosted on 04/17/07 at 10:11:38

Glad to see this circuit back up and running!  Was shocked by Terry Funk winning the belt, though.
The TNM Members ChampPosted on 04/22/07 at 22:36:19

That was a tough crowd! They didn't react to anything except for the main event between Sting and Arn Anderson.

Rick, when you write "portion of match removed" what does that mean? Is that like a commercial break or did you not like that section of the match, so you removed it?

Also, do you use time progression and hit factor?
Rick GarrardPosted on 04/23/07 at 01:53:29

Of course it was a tough crowd... it was a TV Taping.  The house show crowds always kick ass, but its hard to get just over 100 people up for squash matches.

It means it was probably either resthold city or punch, kick, punch, kick. I tend to only put out the portions of the matches that make sense to air.

And no to both time progression and hit factor.

It's funny, with WWE 24/7 having the old WCW shows on, how close these are to the real shows.
And I'm absolutely shocked that Rick has Armstrongs in this episode.  Shocked.   ;D
Rick GarrardPosted on 06/28/07 at 14:24:02

I guess that means that I've done exactly what I intended in capturing the spirit of the good ol' Saturday night/Saturday morning TBS shows. :) And that's not always that easy to do.

And the Armstrongs being on probably just means I'm heading a tour toward Alabama.
Perverted_IconPosted on 06/28/07 at 20:07:20

Come on, Rick, we both know the ole' Candyman will be sticking around.   ;D
Rick GarrardPosted on 06/29/07 at 02:54:35

Due to the severity of Brad Armstrong's neck injury he's still on the shelf with the earliest medical clearance being on the July 7 house show during the Great American Bash tour.  So he cannot even get in a ring for another month's worth of cards at this point, hence why I can state that he's not on the active booking sheets for next 3 1/2 weeks.  :)

It's nice being booked well in advance.  I just wish I had more time to play with this circuit.  Amazingly enough, the upcoming week of house shows feature a main event with NWA Champion Terry Funk taking on Dusty Rhodes... with the Friday night show being in Philadelphia!  Of course having said that, the following week of house shows takes us to Florida.  ;)
Perverted_IconPosted on 06/29/07 at 08:51:17

Ooooo, Philly.  I'll have to get tickets.
blslivewirePosted on 07/14/07 at 08:20:07

This is my favorite circuit. I printed out all the results from work and read through, great stuff.
The TNM Members ChampPosted on 10/19/08 at 04:07:15

Rick, are you continuing on with this or is another old school project in the works? I'm always trying to start something old school and you're usually the reason.
Rick GarrardPosted on 10/19/08 at 06:06:58

If I were to open up TNM again... (and that is a big if with a lot of non-wrestling related stuff going on in my life right now), I would be continuing this one.  I like it's ebb and flow and the old school nature of it.  I have a game plan written out for at least 2 to 3 more weeks of stuff at this point.

Crazily enough though, I just haven't had the time for TNM lately that it needs for my work with it to be good.
The TNM Members ChampPosted on 10/19/08 at 17:07:56

I kind of want to do this with the 1985 roster of Jim Crockett Promotions but I always get into the rut of figuring out how not to just replicate what they booked. You know, not re-inventing the wheel as it were.

You have a good template for running this kind of circuit though. The only thing that takes the most time is the writing of interviews.

The house shows would be very easy for the most part if Oliver would include an option to duplicate cards.

You can save lineups when you're booking and load them when you book the next card.
