Rating: ** Brad Armstrong pinned Terry Taylor with the Russian Legsweep in 0:09:29. Rating: ** The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner) defeated The Midnight Express (Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton) by disqualification in 0:05:56. Rating: * 3/4 [Jim Cornette interfered against Rick Steiner.] Sting pinned Great Muta with the Scorpion Death Drop in 0:11:58. Rating: ** 1/2 [Gary Hart interfered against Sting.] Lex Luger made Dusty Rhodes submit to the Torture Rack in 0:12:12. Rating: * 3/4 (Lex Luger retained the NWA United States Heavyweight Title.) The Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal) defeated Horsemen Blanchard & Anderson (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard) in 0:15:45. Rating: * 1/4 (The Road Warriors retained the NWA World Tag Team Titles.) [JJ Dillon interfered against Hawk.] Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair battled to a draw in 1:00:00. Rating: *** 1/4 (Ric Flair retained the NWA World Heavyweight Title.) [JJ Dillon interfered against Ricky Steamboat.] They go broadway in the main event. An overall nice house show to kick start things for Squared Circle Wrestling in Greenville, SC. Card rating: ** 1/4 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5/7/89 - House Show #2 - Asheville, NC [Tryout Match] Mr. Hughes pinned Tommy Rich with the Spinning Choke Slam in 0:09:45. Rating: 3/4* Brad Armstrong defeated Tully Blanchard by disqualification in 0:08:33. Rating: 1/4* [JJ Dillon interfered against Brad Armstrong.] (Terry Taylor no-showed.) The Midnight Express (Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton) and The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner) battled to a draw in 0:20:00. Rating: ** 1/4 [Jim Cornette interfered against Rick Steiner.] Great Muta pinned Sting after a flying forearm in 0:14:09. I like how everyone on the forums has their 80's favorites, and somehow, I've worked most of them in there... including my own personal whipping boy, Brad Armstrong. ;) |
