It took almost 13 minutes before Dusty Rhodes went for the first pin attempt of this match.  These teams were not set out to win, but to beat their opponents into oblivion here tonight.  It was Heavyweight Champion Waylon Mercy locking his Sleeperhold on Ric Flair for the win.  Next Week, the same two men will fight for Mercy's Title.

Tonight on the card, Wahoo McDaniel takes on Ivan Koloff.  Manny Fernandez does battle with Krusher Khrushchev.  Billy Jack Haynes faces Terry Allen.  Paul Jones and Jimmy Valiant team to take on the Midnight Express.  And in the main event, the tag team titles are on the line as champions The Rock N Roll Express defend against Gary Hart's J-Tex Corporation of Great Kabuki and Steve Armstrong.

Rating: * 3/4

Condrey had enough of the match spending most of it on the receiving end of blows from Valiant and Jones and walked out.  This left a puzzled and confused Eaton and Cornette near the ring, until they finally realized that Condrey was serious and wasn't coming back.  They then went in chase of him, allowing Jones and Valiant to pick up the countout win.

Up Ne...
Rick Steamboat is on his way to the ring.  And it appears that he has a large leather strap with him.

Steamboat: "Two weeks ago, I beat that no good Loverboy Dennis right in the middle of the ring.  And now he goes and walks out in the middle of a match here tonight?  Well Dennis... I'm calling you out.  And to keep you from running away... I've brought the leather strap."

The fans turn their attention to the aisleway to see who is coming out.  And it's...

Ron Garvin?!

Garvin makes his way to the ring with his trademarked towel.

Garvin: "Steamboat, nothing personal, but since it appears Dennis has left the building, I will take your challenge.  I have nothing to lose here in Macon tonight, so how about it?"  {Garvin offers his hand for a handshake}

{Steamboat shakes his hand and then doesn't let go so he can get the strap on Garvin's wrist}

Steamboat: "It's on!"

So we have ourselves an impromptu match.

Garvin has taken off the strap, and thrown it at Steamboat, as Garvin walks back up the aisle, leaving a stunned Steamboat in the middle of the ring.

Rating: **
(Great Kabuki and Steve Armstrong won the Tag Team Titles.)

Gary Hart tripped up Morton long enough to distract him, allowing his charge to lock in the ever dreaded Japanese nerve hold that Morton passed out to here tonight.

We have new tag team champions as Gary Hart lived up to his promise to Steve Armstrong when he invited him to join the Corporation.  Gibson is in to check on his fallen partner... and Kabuki with the green mist in the eyes of Gibson!  Gibson is going to need medical attention, Hart is laughing in the middle of the ring while saying, "I told you so, I told you so!"

Join us again next week when Championship Wrestling comes to the Omni in Atlanta, Georgia, as The Midnight Express, if they can find Loverboy Dennis, takes on the Rock N Roll Express, if the medical crew can get them back in ring shape.  And Heavyweight Champion Waylon Mercy defends the title against Ric Flair.

Until next time, so long everybody!

Fun card there.  Waylon Mercy is an absolute beast, and he picks up yet another victory here, this time over the top contender for his title.  I don't see him losing the belt any time soon if he keeps being so damn invincible.

Hah!  Ivan and Krusher both lose!  I certainly didn't see that coming! ;)

Nice to see the heel complaining loudly about a slightly cheap ending only seconds after trying for the same sort of thing.  Great oldschool heel stuff there.

And the Midnight Express walks out!  That's even more oldschool right there.  Hopefully they don't walk out when I (hopefully) get to see them in Philly in about a week and a half.

Could that be a tease of a Ron Garvin heel turn?  His victory was certainly impressive, but one would expect better sportsmanship from him after he won the match.  I could understand him being mad if he lost, but...  Interesting.

Hehe!  And J-Tex wins the tag team titles!  With a nervehold, no less!  We should fear the almighty Vulcan Neck Pinch, because it was apparently enough to upset one of the greatest tag teams in history.

Fun card.  Flair doesn't have a chance next week, though, but R&R vs. MX should be excellent as usual.

Wonder if he can continue the invincibility for a few more cards at least into the second half of the year when we add some more talents?

Neither did *I*.  ;)

Indeed.  That's why it happened.  Old school.

Always nice to see the real life guys even if they are way over the hill, although Eaton would make for a great trainer for any organization should they so choose to hire him.  Great talent over the years, never said much and always did his job.

It could be, or it couldn't be.  We'll have to wait and see.  Hell at this point, even I'm confused as to what happened there.

I'm just glad Kabuki and Armstrong won... it leads back to another chase for the titles for the RnR and it builds Gary Hart's role as evil genius for me, which is exactly what I was shooting for.  Had RnR won, Kabuki and especially Hart, would have had some explaining to do to Armstrong for sure.

Fun card.  Flair doesn't have a chance next week, though, but R&R vs. MX should be excellent as usual.

I didn't mention on the card, but the opening match for next week also involved Flair, as it's Flair vs Dusty Rhodes with a 30 minute time limit to kick things off.  So Flair opens and closes the card for next week.

Not to mention, there is no mention of Rick Steamboat in the lineup either... and everyone is supposed to work the card per the rules... hmmm... wonder where he'll show up?

I'm looking forward to the J-Tex vs Billy Jack and Nikita match myself.  Should be interesting to see where this one heads.
