LIVE~! NAPW Throwdown Thursday Recap exclusively for 411Rasslin.com

--The Bob Carpenter Center on the campus of the University of Deleware is going crazy tonight for the fourth installment of New American Pro Wrestling Throwdown Thursday. Tonight promises to be explosive as the main event tonight will be a six man tag team match with Christian Cage, Ken Shamrock and a returning Val Venis take on Carlito, John Cena and Scott Steiner. The second semi-final match for the Intercontinental Tag Team Titles will feature Da Hit Squad and NEXTGEN. Also, Bubba Ray Dudley demanded and received a title shot against Low Ki so those two will go at it tonight for the Internet Title.

--Our first match saw Xavier go one on one with newcomer Puma. Xavier rebounded nicely from his draw last week with KENTA. The outcome was never in question as Xavier certainly lived up to his "All Around Best" nickname tonight. A Fire Thunder Power Bomb followed up by a picture perfect 450 Splash spelled the end for the masked newcomer in just under four minutes. After the match , The Rottweilers came down and got in Xavier's face. Low Ki told Xavier that he shouldn't even have a job in this company, let alone even think that he has a legitimate claim to the number one contendership. The two beat on Xavier until Bubba Ray Dudley made the save. Low Ki wisely got out of dodge as he didn't want to risk getting softened up before his first title defense tonight. ** 1/2

--Trent Acid and Johnny Kashmere, The Backseat Boyz, are in the back by a monitor speculating over the rumor that the NAPW's Championship Committee's mouthpiece will be made known tonight. Scott Steiner comes up and yells at them, screaming that, "It don't matter what chump they name as commissioner. He betta realize that I AM THE NAPW AND I WILL WIN THE BELT!" Steiner beats the crap out of both for good measure before leaving. Goldust appears in the frame a few seconds later, apologizing for Pump's actions as he is still a little bit testy over his loss last week. Goldust leaves but not without making several sexual innuendos about taking the Boyz to the Backseat.

--Da Hit Squad and NEXTGEN put on a match that was much more competitive than many people thought it would be going in. NEXTGEN's speed and agility allowed them to dance around the big men and keep them off balance. This strategy worked for a little while until until Da Hit Squad were able to unleash their monstrous power offense. The ending saw Danny Maff hit Jack Evans with a brainbuster to set up a Steve Mack frogsplash but Dawn Marie interjected herself and pushed Mack off the rope. Referee Jeremy Nichols saw this and disqualified NEXTGEN nine minutes in. After the match Danny Maff had Dawn Marie in position for the Burning Hammer but NEXTGEN came to the rescue and scurried away before any damage was done. It may not be teh way they wanted to advance but Da Hit Squad and The Dudley Boys have a date in the finals for the NAPW Intercontinental Tag Team Titles. *** 1/2

--The third match of the night was between Goldust and Ace Steel. Ace Steel is an accomplished independent wrestler and a tag team specialist who should have a great career here in the NAPW but tonight just wasn't to be. Goldust's mindgames kept Ace Steel offguard allowing him to easily fall to the Curtain Call. Instead of finishing him off with that Goldust applied the STEINER RECLEINER! Ace Steel was already out from the Curtain Call and referee Brandon Johnson called for the bell. Post match Goldust got on the microphone and apologized to Steiner, telling pump that he was "merely looking out for his Big Bad Booty Daddy." ** 1/4

--Chris Sabin is in the back preparing for his triangle match with Jerry Lynn and KENTA that is NEXT! Jeff Jarrett appears and runs Sabin down, telling him that he is nothing but a loser and that he will never amount to anything in this business. Double J tells Sabin that if he wants to break out of this rut he is going to half to model his game after Jarrett's. Until then, he is nothing but a slapped nut. Jarrett exits as Sabin is furious.

--Chris Sabin was a house of fire in the opening minutes of the match, taking on both Jerry Lynn and KENTA and dominating them both. At one point Sabin hit the Cradle Shock on Lynn but it was broken up by a stiff kick to the small of the back by KENTA. Lynn and KENTA eventually got wise to this and took Sabin out of the equation by beating on him and tossing him to the outside. Lynn and KENTA traded some heavy hitting moves as KENTA worked over his head with knees and forearm smashes while Lynn at one point hit a Tombstone that almost stole the match. KENTA landed an enzuguiri that knocked Lynn completely out of the ring but was got by surprise when Sabin jumped on him with a springboard Tornado DDT. Sensing victory Sabin went for his spinning Soviet Suplex into a backbreaker but KENTA reversed it with a tight small package to garner a victory! KENTA celebrated his victory as Sabin looked absolutely stunned in the ring. *** 3/4

--We cut to the back again where Homicide is on the phone. He asks whomever he is talking to whether he is almost at the arena. Pleased by the answer he hangs up and rubs his hands together. What could Homicide be up to and who was he talking to? Apparently we'll find out sooner rather than later.

--BJ Whitmer and Jeff Hardy were up next and once again Whitmer looked very, very impressive. Jeff Hardy tried to get his offense going but it just wasn't meant to be as Whitmer had his way with the young man from North Carolina. Whitmer hit a nasty sitout Tombstone and followed it up with the Wrist Clutch Exploder to get the victory. Things got interesting after the match as a fan ran into the ring?? Turns out it was no fan but SABU!! He had the spike in hand but BJ Whitmer was smart enough to get out of dodge. Security came down to the ring to keep these two separated but that did nothing a Sabu vaulted off the top rope onto security AND BJ Whitmer! Something needs to be done about these two. * 3/4

--For most of the match it seemed as if Low Ki bit off more than he could chew in the form of Bubba Ray Dudley. Low Ki's strikes were enough to slow Bubba down but thats it as Dudley has been through his fair share of wars over the years. Low Ki tried several times to hit the Ki Krusher but he simply couldn't pick Dudley up. Bubba Ray started to take control at this point and even hit the Bubba Bomb but Homicide ran down to the ring and distracted both referee Brandon Johnson and Bubba Ray. Out of the crowd came an unknown man who ran into the ring and clocked Dudley in the head with the Internet Title belt. Bubba Ray staggered back and was hit with a small package by Low Ki to steal the victory eleven minutes in. Post match The Rottweilers and this unknown individual took their liberties on Bubba Ray. D-Von Dudley ran down but he too fell victim to the numbers game. Satisfied by the destruction this trio left the ring and celebrated much to the chagrin of the crowd. *** 1/4

--THE MAIN EVENT~! lived up to its billy as these six men laid it all out on the line tonight. Tensions were high as Cena and Steiner seemed to be on thin ice with one another and Venis/Cage had their aggressions focused on Carlito. Ken Shamrock and Steiner went toe to toe with Steiner claiming that Shamrock didn't beat him last week. Cena made a crack about Goldust and Steiner turned his back to the World's Most Dangerous Man to glare at him which was a big mistake and Shamrock took Steiner down with a huge waistlock suplex. Steienr got back up and immediately went over to Cena and slugged him in the face. This set off a huge brawl between the two leaving Carlito in a 3 on 1 situation. Carlito took the brunt of the faces offense and eventually fell victim to Christian's Unprettier. Shamrock then put Carlito in the Ankle Lock which then set up Val Venis' Money Shot to pick up the victory for his team. The fighting didn't stop though as the teams started to brawl with each other. DOUBLE J snuck down to ringside and EL KABONGED CHRISTIAN CAGE AGAIN!! **

--The fighting came to an end as some generic theme music started to play and out of the back came "THE ENFORCER" ARN ANDERSON! He announced that he is the new commissioner of the NAPW and that he is going to sort out this mess. He says that the seven men in the ring all have a legitimate shot at being the first Heavyweight Champion. He tells the men that they will be put into two four man Round Robin brackets with the two winners going on to fight for the belt in a yet to be determined match on the first NAPW Pay Per View, "Crowning a Champion." Anderson says that the eighth and final man will be determined next week in a Battle Royal. Who will fight for the eighth and final spot?? Tune in next Thursday to find out!

Puma debuts and is promptly fodder for Xavier.  That's fine, since Xavier looks to be in the Internet Title hunt very soon.  And it is wise of Low-Ki to get away from Buh Buh.  That guy is nutty.

Steiner had no reason to beat up Acid and Kashmere like tha!  What a bully!  A big fat bully!  And ewwwwwwww to Goldust wanting to get in their backseat.

I figured Da Hit Squad would win, and cool to see NEXTGEN not lose it by clean fall because it will set them up as a future contender, and shows that they = weasely.  The finals should be a hard-hitting match.  I pick Da Hit Squad.

Goldust uses the Steiner Recliner as an ode to his love!  Awwww.

LOL... "he is nothing but a slapped nut."  NAPW Jarrett rules.

KENTA needed to win here, and he did it in a way that doesn't kill Sabin's heat.  Sabin too concerned with what Jarrett said to him to focus?

Homicide always seems to have guys lined up.  First Low-Ki... now who?

You would figure with his name value Jeff Hardy would be having a better go of it in NAPW but so far, that is not the case.  No matter, because I'm absolutely loving BJ Whitmer and his feud with Sabu.  Barbed wire in the future, methinks.

Hrm... unknown man helps Low-Ki retain the Internet Title. Masked or unmasked?

You knew with that team that there was no way that Cena and Steiner could get along.  Those two are un a collision course for sure.  And Carlito sure did take a big ass kicking at the end there.  I'm sure he's not going to be thrilled about Steiner and Cena abandoning him.

ARN ANDERSON!  Yes!  Ironically, he almost became the GCW Commish before I decided on Tommy Dreamer.  Who could the 8th be... Corino, maybe?

Xavier wins, no surprises. Puma wasn't given much on his debut so I'm guessing he'll be cannon fodder from here in then.

Da Hit Squad go through, and I'd also expect them to go over the Dudleys in the final. Of course, NEXTGEN are idiots getting DQ'ed like they did, but cest la vie. Sets up a future rematch at least.

HA! Goldust is stealing Steiners moves now. How could Steiner NOT be attracted?

KENTA wins, which I'm cool with. I guess Sabin is more concerned with Jarrett which means he might be the eighth man yet...

Whitmer wins again. He's obviously destined for big things here.

Oooh, a mystery guy, that spices things up. Right guy went over for sure under the circumstances, and a little intrigue is left concerning who Low Ki and Homicide have on board. Since we as "viewers" should at least be able to tell what he looks like, give us a description - height, build, hair and ethnic origin? That might give me some idea yet of who it is.

Perhaps my one criticism here would be in the six man - I had to scroll back to the top of the page to work out who was on which team as it wasn't inherently obvious in the opening few sentences and NAPW is too new for me to reel these things off right away. That aside, decent main event that sets up the world title tournament nicely. My early pick would be either Jarrett or Cena after the way things have been set up in the opening few weeks but no doubt I'm sure there'll be a twist or three in there yet.

The Internet title division is definitely keeping interesting in the early goings of NAPW.

Goldust=Ratings.  Plain and simple.

The Dudley Boys vs. Da Hit Squad should be a good match.  I still believe the Dudleys will take it home, but all in all it should definitely be an entertaining encounter.

YES!  Goldust is stealing Steiner's moves!  Imitation is after all the sincerest form of flattery

I pegged either KENTA or Sabin to win for different reasons.  Maybe Jarrett was right.  I guess we'll see next time Sabin gets in the ring if he gives the whole Double J thing a try and can pull out a victory.  Some nice possibilities for Sabin storyline wise here.

Interesting indeed.  Last phone call got us Low-Ki, wonder who this one will bring in.

Sabu and BJ just keep turning the fire up more and more each week.  They might end up killing eachother before we get our huge blow off match :)

Good cap to the show with people gettins their shots in.  Jarrett with the CABONG!~  Cage isn't going to be happy with that when he wakes up.

Arn Anderson is not a bad choice at all.  And if anyone gets out of line?  SPINEBUSTER BITCH! :)  I can't wait for him to hit some insubordinate with it when they won't get out of his face.  It has to come sometime :D

good stuff :)

Good opener with Xavier. Did what it needed to and hypes up the Internet Title match later.

Scott Steiner went from pissed to SUPAPISSED in that segment. And Goldust makes me shudder again.

Good semifinal match. I would've thought NEXTGEN would go over, but they're not out of the hunt.

Goldust is using Steiner's move! By gawd! It's looking more and more like Goldust is trying to get in Steiner's head.

Sabin shows face #2 of his 2-emotion acting range.

Good triangle match with the right man going over. Sabin's going to have to figure things out.

Homicide's bringing in somebody else? Wonder who it is.

Whitmer goes over Jeff Hardy, but the story's the post match brawl. I'm really looking forward to this match.

Unknown guy! I'm interested to see who this is that cost Bubba the match. Dudley's not out of the title hunt either now.

Good main event, even though Cena and Steiner weren't going to work out as a team.  Jarrett gets in his licks at the end too.

Good choice for commissioner. I do wonder who the eighth man is going to be. Corino? Sabin? KENTA?
