GLWF Action TV: 8/27/05...

americamamushiPosted on 07/19/06 at 00:35:26

Welcome to GLWF Action TV!  We're coming to you live from the GLWF Facilities in Kalamazoo, Michigan and we've got a full arena for Action TV tonight!  We've got quite a card, including two title matches, so lets get to the ring and get things started.

Josh Abercrombie vs. Ernest "The Cat" Miller

From the very beginning, it was obvious that Abercrombie was having a little bit of trouble with Miller's unorthodox style, but thats not to say that he didn't put on a good showing.  It's just that Miller kept using his martial arts to throw Abercrombie off and regain control.  Abercrombie was smart enough to stick to the ground though after a high risk attempt early on ended with him getting almost knocked the hell out with a savate kick from Miller while Josh was on his way down.  It was a vicious looking impact, but Abercrombie had managed to kick just before three.  Miller thought he had it all wrapped up and went to the top-rope, flying off in an attempt to hit the Feliner, but Abercrombie ducked!  Miller hit the ground hard and tried to quickly stumble to his feet, but Abercrombie was just as quick and hit a springboard enzuigiri, which was just enough to give him the win over a dazed Ernest Miller.

Josh Abercrombie pinned Ernest Miller after a springboard enzuigiri in 0:08:25.
Rating: ** 1/4

Shannon Moore vs. Gran Akuma (unsigned).

Things started off on the even side with a nice spot exchange that ended in a round of applause from the crowd.  Once Moore turned up the heat though he showed just how dominant he can really be given the right conditions and handed Akuma a pretty one-sided beating.  Akuma got a shot or two in, but it was pretty much all Shannon Moore until Moore hit the Mooregasm to wrap up the match.

Shannon Moore pinned Gran Akuma with the Mooregasm in 0:05:27.
Rating: * 1/4

"The French Phenom" Rene Dupree vs. "Bulldog" Harry Smith

Dupree and Smith tried to battle muscle for muscle.  They are both close to the same size and it really seemed even.  Their meeting almost seemed reminiscent of two rams, butting heads for dominance, to see who was the strongest specimen of the two.  Dupree even kept things clean for the most part, though he must've forgotten that you can't win a match based on style points, because he turned his back on Smith to preform his little dance for the audience.  This allowed Smith to get the upperhand and a few clotheslines later, Smith hit the Running Powerslam for the victory.

Harry Smith pinned Rene Dupree with the Running Powerslam in 0:11:14.
Rating: ** 3/4

Great Lakes Tag Team Titles Match: Los Corazones Negros (Hector Garza & Mistico) vs. The Destruction Crew (Bobby Lashley & Tank Toland) (c)

The Destruction Crew started off strong, taking the match by the horns before Garza & Mistico could mount their unorthodox luchadore-ian offense.  In true rudo style, Los Corazones Negros would use lowblows and the like to get the match in their favor.  Once Garza & Mistico really got going with their aerial attacks Lashley and Toland seemed to be having a little trouble keeping up.  The appeared more vulnerable they have ever even come close to looking in a match and that really is saying something on behalf of Los Corazones Negros.  Garza seemed to have the titles almost within his grasp as he came off the top-rope, but was met with a desperation Tank Turret by Toland!  The ref started counting as both men were down and seemed to be out.  Before the ref got to ten both men started crawling to their respective corners for the tag.  Garza tagged in Mistico first, but before Mistico could stop Toland, Tank got the hot tag on Lashley!  Lashley exploded into the ring and unleashed a house of fire onto Mistico and Garza.  Shocker even ran out to try and help his amigos out, but was knocked off the ring apron with a lariat.  Lashley then press slammed Garza over the top-rope onto Shocker, turned just in time to swat away a dropkick from Mistico and grabbed him in a gutwrench, hitting an extremely forceful looking Hammer of the Gods on him for the pin.  After the match Tank and Lashley celebrate their victory and fail to notice Shocker and Garza sliding into the ring with chairs.  They lay a beating into the tag team champions before they grab the still dazed Mistico and make their exit to a chorus of boos.

The Destruction Crew (Bobby Lashley and Tank Toland) defeated Los Corazones Negros (Hector Garza and Mistico) when Lashley pinned Mistico with the Hammer of the Gods in 0:18:20.
Rating: *** 1/4
(The Destruction Crew retained the Great Lakes Tag Team titles.)

Main Event for the Great Lakes Heavyweight Title: Ron "The Truth" Killings vs. "The Essence of Excellence" Michael Shane (c) w/ Traci Brooks

Ron Killings had quite the chance in front of him tonight and the fans were behind him 100%.  He and Shane wrestled a close match that had quite a few exciting high risk spots worked into it.  On a few different occasions both had been a fraction of a second away from winning the match.  Traci stayed out of things for the most part, but when Shane looked to really be in trouble and the opportunity presented itself, she did make her presence known.  Killings seemed to have the match secured as he placed Shane up on the top turnbuckle and attempted a frankensteiner, but Shane managed to counter it with a huge powerbomb.  Shane had just enough left in the tank to crawl up stairs once more and hit the Picture Perfect Elbow to retain the heavyweight title once more.

[Main Event]:
Michael Shane pinned Ron Killings with the Picture Perfect Elbow in 0:18:23.
Rating: *** 1/2

Surprised to see Abercrombie go over in the opener, mostly because he's been everyone's whipping boy, sho' nuff.  The Cat rules far too much to job, silly pants.

'Bout time Moore got a win... that silly bastard.

Not a good night for the former tag champs as Dupree goes down too.  Good power match with Smith though, and the right man went over.

Good match for the tag titles.  TDC get the win that they should get without making LCN look weak, which is good because your use of LCN thus far has been awesome. I like that a rematch in the future was teased with the post-match beating too.

Michael Shane has been such a bad ass as a champion.  Well, maybe not a bad ass, but he's having quite the lengthy reign as champ.  It's cool because you've built a great anticipation for who will finally take the title off of him.  Good job, mein Freund.  Huge show next week too with another heavyweight title defense, the debut of the muscle, DEBUTING STAR... oh my!

I enjoyed the tag-team title match as well, the champs seems like real hosses. I think it's only a matter of time before Snabbit steals away Lashley though... Lashley vs Lesnar is a future dream match, and Lashley needs to build a momentum in GCW before going up against Lesnar.

That's why I think LCN will take the straps soon enough.
