NEW WRESTLING PROMOTION TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE
October 10, 2005

A press release was sent to several of the top wrestling websites going today declaring that a new wrestling promotion will be starting up next month. The promotion, New American Pro Wrestling, looks to offer an alternative to the Global Championship Wrestling product.

"Today could be the day that single handedly changes how people view professional wrestling in North America," said NAPW Owner John Lamb, who is being backed by several silent investors in this venture. "It could take a long time but I really feel that this company can offer an exciting and refreshing product."

The promotion has reportedly inked established stars such as Goldust, John Cena and Jeff Hardy to exclusive contracts. Rumors have already been circulating as to who else could be signed. Names such as Triple H, Raven and Jeff Jarrett keep popping up but are seemingly an attempt to generate a buzz for the company.

"Money is not an issue at all. We can and will bring in top flight talent if we have to. However, I'd much rather spend money on stars that many casual fans for some reason haven't heard of. It is important that we establish an identity and not just leech off of past-their-prime big names. We here at NAPW want to create new stars as much as we want to promote our existing stars."

Reportedly there are aggressive talks with channels such as OLN and Fox Sportsnet to pick up NAPW no a weekly basis. Whether televised or not the inaugural NAPW show will be held November 3, 2005 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The event will take place in the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University. The Main Event will be a Battle Royal featuring some "young and exciting talent" vying to become the first NAPW Internet Champion.

Eep!  COMPETITION!?  And so the universe expands.  I'm looking very much forward to this project.  Welcome aboard, Lambie.
