GLWF Action TV: 6/11/05...

Welcome once again to GLWF Action TV!  Tonight we're coming to you live from the Student Activity Center on Indiana University's Southbend Campus for what should be a great night of action.  And even though it's only been a week I'm sure for the GLWF fans it has seemed like forever since their last taste of GLWF action, so lets take it to the ring for our opening bout!

TV Title Tournament - First Round: Sonny Siaki vs. "Bulldog" Harry Smith

Siaki hasn't been doing all that great lately.  Or really, all that great since entering the GLWF.  It's not hos ability that is at fault though, he's a talented athlete... maybe just a little... unbalanced.  He really surprised a lot of the audience by taking early control of Smith with some well placed offense.  Siaki kept Smith off guard enough in the begining that he was able to keep him off guard for a while.  Eventually Siaki's... lets say obvious lack of medication got the better of him and he started making choices that were plainly visible as being a bad idea, but apparently in his mind were gonna work.  Smith took full advantage of this and quickly took control and once he had control, didn't have too hard a time keeping it thanks to the sheer power he can put behind his offense.  Smith finally ended things after hitting the Running Powerslam for 3.

Doug Williams comes out to a round of boos, but claims that he has something that will not only make the fans happy, but to their surprise will make him happy as well.  The second match in the first round of the TV title tournament will feature him... taking on Bryan Danielson!  The fans like this, but it seems odd for Williams to be changing his tune about facing Danielson again so quickly.  Williams addresses this by saying that he believe he should be done and over with Danielson because he believes he has proved himself to be the better wrestler of the two, but after last week's fluke loss (Apparently he believes all his losses are fluke losses) he feels he should end things on a high note instead of an accident.

Samoa Joe vs. Burchill

The ring almost shook like there was a 10.0 earthquake happening right here in South Bend.  These two monsters of the GLWF didn't hold anything back and pounded and slammed eachother beyond the point that most wrestlers would be able to withstand.  Each man had a few real close pinfalls, but neither could hit any of their signatures or finishers.  Burchill broke that streak by hitting Joe with his very own STK just to add insult to injury, but only got a 2.  After Joe kicked out of that it was like he suddenly had the power of 10 Samoans and really layed into Burchill hard.  He still had a tough time really taking Burchill down, but it was happening a lot quickly comparitively.  Finally Joe hit the Island Driver in the middle of the ring and quickly locked in the Kokina Clutch.  Burchill had no ropes to grab onto and couldn't break the hold, but there was no way he was going to give up either.  After what seemed like a dangerously long ammount of time in the hold (and much longer than anyone has lasted up til this point) Burchill passed out, giving Joe the win.

Samoa Joe defeated Burchill when Burchill passed out in the Kokina Clutch in 0:14:22.

Pinfall Only Cage Match for the Great Lakes Heavyweight title: Ron "The Truth" Killings vs. "The Essence of Excellence" Michael Shane w/Traci Brooks (c)

Ron Killings seemed a lot more ready for this match than Michael Shane did.  He had Traci by his side, but there wasn't much she could really do to help him, but in that same regard, at least it was going to keep Samoa Joe out.  The match started off solidly, with a lot of technical back and forth.  Both men were in rare form tonight and put on a hell of a showing for the fans.  Neither man could seem to really get the edge and stayed pretty even.  Eventually though, the technical beauty turned into an out and out brawl, which was still good in it's own right.  Killings seemed to have it all but won, but Shane managed to rake the eyes and scramble away from an attempt at the Truth Conviction (Hat Rack Crack) and tried to escape through the door, unfortunately, it was pinfall only and Shane had no where to run.  Killings went back on the attack, but Shane used more underhanded heel tactics to gain possession of the match, eventually pulling a pair of brass knuckles out of his tights and clocking Killings.  Given this was a cage match and he couldn't get DQed he proudly showed off his handy work to the fans after clubbing the Truth.  He went up top and hit the Picture Perfect Elbow for the victory.

Pinfall Only Cage Match:
Michael Shane pinned Ron Killings with the Picture Perfect Elbow in 0:30:08.

(Michael Shane retained the Great Lakes Heavyweight Title.)

After the match Shane celebrated in the ring as the ref opened the door to allow Traci in and hand Shane his belt, but out runs Samoa Joe from the back!  And he's got Shannon Moore with him!  Joe gets into the ring and Moore closes the door and locks it!  Shane is trapped in their with Samoa Joe and no help at all!  Shane doesn't even see Joe yet.  He turns around and it's like he's seen a ghost.  He can't believe his eyes.  Samoa Joe is standing across from him in a locked cage and chances are Shane isn't going to be able to climb fast enough to get away.  Austin Aries comes down to try and make the save but is met by Shannon Moore springboarding off the ringsteps!  Shane decides to go for broke and book it up the cage but Joe yanks him down... Island Driver!  Shane is out cold!  Samoa Joe picks his title up off the ground and holds it up as the arena almost bursts open from all the cheers!

What an amazing night for our first venture outside of our native Michigan.  Next week we'll be back in our home of Kalamazoo with the following matches: Tyson Dux vs. Sonny Siaki, Raven vs. Shocker, Bryan Danielson vs. Doug Williams in an opening round match in the TV title tournament and in the main event a tag team title match between the champions the Destruction Crew and the team of Ernest Miller & Rene Dupree.  Plus we'll see the GLWF debut of Roadkill as he faces Josh Abercrombie.  We'll see you there.

Poor unstable Sonny Siaki.  Lucky for him he rules hard, eh?  What are the rest of the brackets for the TV title Tourney with Smith advancing?

Williams vs. Danielson again!  Yaaaaaaaaay!  I'm always pumped for them wrestling.

Burchill rules for holding out from tapping to Joe's Kokina Clutch.  Joe had to win this match though, no question.

Great main event, and it looks to be the match of the GLWF year so far.  Great ending though with Joe getting Shane alone in the cage.  i'm a little confused as to why Moore is helping though... did I just not read closely enough in past weeks and see why he's helping Joe?

Next week's show looks good, but a little weak in retrospect given how strong this show was.  I'm confident you'll keep me interested though as you always do.  Good stuff.

Joe just enlisted Moore's help is all.  Plus Moore has the aforementioned match against Age of Shane member Austin Aries in the TV title tournament in a few weeks.  You didn't miss anything, I just suck at booking sometimes.  ;D
