GLWF Action TV: 5/28/05...

Welcome once again to GLWF Action TV!  We're here at the GLWF facilities in Kalamazoo, Michigan for what should be a great night of action.  We've got some intense action so lets get down to the ring post-haste!

"The Showstopper" H.B. Cade vs. Austin Aries

H.B. Cade wanted this win badly and unfortunately put his eyes on the prize and not on the match for the most part.  He made what some people would call dumb mistakes which Austin Aries was more than happy to capitalize on, but Cade always managed to make an opening and get himself away from what could have been a full on offensive onslaught from Aries.  Cade's frustration grew more and more, which didn't help things.  He obviously has still been mulling over the loss to Raven a few weeks back in his mind.  Eventually Cade just gave up and walked out on the match to give Austin Aries a countout victory, though you'd think he had just won the superbowl single handedly.

Austin Aries defeated H.B. Cade by countout in 0:07:59.

Harry Smith and Shocker come down to the ring.  They say that after what happened last week in the non-title match that they believe they are entitled to a title shot against the Destruction Crew tonight.  The ask the fans if they'd like to see that and the fans seem to be interested in seeing Smith & Shocker challenge for the titles here tonight.  The Destruction Crew politely accept the match, but are sure to let Smith and Shocker know that a match involving just the two teams wouldn't be quite as easy for them.

GREAT LAKES TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: "Bulldog" Harry Smith & "1,000% Guapo" Shocker vs. The Destruction Crew (c)

When the Destruction Crew said tonight's match wouldn't be as easy as there was no third party to play into effect they were right.  The Destruction Crew were pretty dominant.  Smith and Shocker both had their moments, but the match usually seemed pretty soundly in the hands of the champions.  Smith and Shocker kept coming back though, ever willing to fight on in a quest to hold GLWF Gold.  Of course, this hope that they could find an opening and take the match faded away quickly when Ernest Miller and Rene Dupree waltzed (not literally, thank god) down to the ring.  Dupree quickly jumped on Smith (who had been thrown to the outside by Toland) and when Shocker came over to help, he was met with a vicious savate kick from Miller out of no where after ducking a clothesline attampt.  The ref ruled the match a DQ for Smith and Shocker as they brawled with Dupree & Miller all the way up the alsie and to the back.  The Destruction Crew didn't seem to broken up about the loss though, and didn't get involved in the spat between the four men.

Harry Smith and Shocker defeated The Destruction Crew (Bobby Lashley and Tank Toland) when Smith defeated Tank by disqualification in 0:07:32.

(The Destruction Crew retained the Great Lakes Tag Team titles.)
[Rene Dupree interfered against Harry Smith.]

MAIN EVENT #1 CONTENDER TRIANGLE MATCH: Samoa Joe vs. Paul Burchill vs. Ron "The Truth" Killings

At times you'd think this match was Joe vs. Burchill.  They tended to only pay attention to eachother and when Killings tried to get involved, he usually got dumped to the outside rather unceremoniously by the two bigger men so they could go at it alone.  All three men were all fight here tonight though.  Joe has been after Shane since GLWF's inception and Ron Killings has been looking to make an impact, setting his sights on Shane and the title since his debut.  Burchill of course would like nothing more than to win to ensure that Michael Shane can keep the title around his waist.  There wasn't a whole lot of technical wrestling going on between Joe & Burchill, mostly brawling.  General kick-the-other-guy's-ass stuff.  Joe and Burchill were pretty evenly matched too.  Burchill tried for a C4 after ducking a lariat from Joe, but Joe blocked it and hit an Island Driver for two.  Eventually Killings kinda caught on to how things were going for him and picked his moments to strike caefully and knew when to back away before getting dumped once again.  Towards the end Burchill managed to throw Samoa Joe over the top rope, tumbling him to the outside!  Damn it all!  Here come Shane and Aries!  Joe is still dazed... and they're handcuffing him to the ring post!  Damn it!  This isn't right!  Michael Shane knows that he can't beat Samoa Joe in a singles match and he's damn well going to take every chance he can get to stop another match like that from happening!  Once Joe realizes what has happened he's furious.  Joe and Aries start "poking the bear" so to speak while Burchill looks on from the ring laughing.  Unfortunately while he had his attention on Joe Ron Killings knew it was time to strike.  Flying forearm smash to the back of Burchill's head!  He bounces off the ropes and stumbles back.  Killings bounces off the rpes in front of Burchill... Spinning leg lariat!  Burchill is knocked down but quickly gets back up.  Killings tries for a forearm smash by Burchill blocks it and sets him up for the Burning Hammer!  Killings wiggles free!  Burchill turns around!  Kick to the gut!  SCISSORS KICK!  One!  Two!  Aries and Shane try to make it back to the ring in time from their spot halfway up the ramp, but they can't!   THREE!  Ron Killings is the new #1 Contender for Michael Shane's Heavyweight title and Michael Shane can't believe what just happened!  He's dumbfounded!  He took care of Samoa Joe, but he obviously didn't expect Killings to be able to make it past the muscle of the Age of Shane Paul Burchill!

[MAIN EVENT]: Number-One-Contenders-Triangle Match:
Ron Killings defeated Paul Burchill and Samoa Joe when Killings pinned Burchill after a scissor kick in 0:25:12.
Rating: *** 1/2

Awww... nobody likes a quitter, Cade!

The Cat taking inititive!  The Cat and Dupree is a team that really is growing on me.  DQ loss doesn't do much to hurt the tag champs, I suppose.

Fantastic main event.  Ron Killings ahs made quite the impact in such a short time in GLWF, and now has a win over Burchill and a title shot on the horizon.  I have a sense that Killings could possibly take the gold.
