GLWF Action TV: 5/21/05...

americamamushiPosted on 03/17/06 at 20:54:52

Welcome once again to GLWF Action TV!  We're here at the GLWF facilities in Kalamazoo, Michigan for what should be a great night of action.  We've got five awesome matches to bring to you, so lets get to it.

NON-TITLE MATCH: Rene Dupree & Enrest Miller vs. Harry Smith & Shocker vs. The Destruction Crew (c)

Our opening match tonight probably seemed like a no brainer to most.  While Dupree & Miller have shown some tag prowess, they usually fail to finish what they start, and usually because of both of their egos clashing.  Smith and Shocker have both been in tag team matches here in GLWF with varying degrees of success, but this was their first time together and given the calibur of their opponents, weren't really considered a threat.  Then there was the Destruction Crew, who obviously, being the Great Lakes Tag Team Champions were the big time favorites going into the match.  And Lashley and Toland really showed why they were the favorites.  The kept either one in the ring through most of the match to make sure they had control.  Smith, Shocker, Miller & Dupree all wrestled great, but Toland & Lashley were spot on and working as one furocious unit, squashing any attempts at taking control away from the champions very quickly.  It all went down hill though when Smith made a blind tag on Bobby Lashley who had just about ripped Dupree in half with a running shoulder into the corner.  Lashley set Dupree up for the Hammer of the Gods, but the ref got in Lashley's face and forced him out of the ring.  Lashley didn't understand what happened.  Both he and Toland argued with the ref as Harry Smith hit the Running Powerslam and pinned Dupree.  The ref ran over to count the three and Shocker popped up top, flying off with a dropkick on both members of the Destruction Crew to keep them from breaking the fall.  Ernest Miller tried to get to his partner in time, but was too hurt and tired to make it in time.

[NON-TITLE MATCH]: Triangle Match:
Harry Smith and Shocker defeated Rene Dupree and Ernest Miller and The Destruction Crew (Bobby Lashley and Tank Toland) when Smith pinned R. Dupree with the Running Powerslam in 0:15:07.

Josh Abercrombie vs. Sonny Siaki

Both these men haven't been fairing too well as of late and were hoping this match might be the one to launch them back into a winning streak.  These two met once before in singles competition and it saw Abercrombie take the victory, albeit by countout.  Tonight Siaki wasn't going to let history repeat itself.  He stayed in the ring like the floor was made of lava.  He kept saying that he wasn't leaving this ring and just about had a heart attack when Abercrombie dumped him to the outside after a nice series of quick attacks.  Both men looked good.  Abercrombie looked a lot more polished and Siaki looked a lot more careful.  If there is one thing we know about Siaki is that he tends to be a little unbalanced, but he must've taken his meds today, because with the exception of when he was dumped out, he seemed calm, cool and collected.  Abercrombie went for a crucifix, but Siaki manuevered so that Abercrombie came back around and landed on his feet infront of Siaki, who quickly went for a backspin DDT, which dazed Abercrombie long enough to be hit with a sitdown powerbomb and get pinned for what was just barely a three count.

Sonny Siaki pinned Josh Abercrombie after a sitout power bomb in 0:06:54.

"The Showstopper" H.B. Cade vs. "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson

This was another match up where both men were looking to get back on the path of victory.  Both had crushing defeats a few weeks ago in big matches and want to make up for it a little here tonight.  They went at eachother like there was no tomorrow, knowing that this was a great chance to redeem themselves at least a little.  The match could have gone either way at any moment.  Cade went for no less than three superkicks.  The third time wasn't the charm though as Danielson ducked, bounced off the ropes and hit Cade with a huge Yakuza kick to get the fall.  Cade was a little dazed and stumbly after the three count, but it didn't take long for him to realize he lost and throw a fit, still somewhat out of it.

Bryan Danielson pinned H.B. Cade after a Yakuza kick in 0:08:22.

"The Anarchist" Doug Williams vs. Shannon Moore

The fans expected great things from this match, both men being former GCW wrestlers.  Shannon Moore was looking to continue his winning streak and journey towards sticking it to the man.  The man being GCW brass in this case.  His fight against the "oppressive overlords of wrestling" as he has begun to call them on his website has been going smoothly so far and gaining momentum.  Every week more and more fans are becoming "Mooremens," though in this following, no palygamy.  Moore and Williams had a tough match.  It wasn't as fast paced as many of Moore's battles, but it was high impact for sure.  It looked like Williams had Moore as he pushed him into the corner and went for the Chaos Theory, but when he tried to hit the german suplex to complete the sequence, Moore flipped out of it and lit Williams up with rights and lefts.  Moore went up top for the Mooregasm, but made the mistake of getting a little too cocky, something that Shannon hasn't been in the ring since he arrived.  It was uncharacteristic of him since he showed up in GLWF, he took his eyes off the prize and got caught up in the moment... and it cost him... big.  He came off the top, but Williams hit a big lariat on Moore's way down.  That could've been enough right there, but Williams ended things with an exclimation point and hit a stiff looking brain buster for the pin.  After Williams left the ring and Moore began to stir he was visibly upset with himself for letting that one slip away.  He couldn't believe he lost his focus.  The fans cheered his efforts anyway, but it was no consolation for him.  He seems to have hit his first bump in the road so to speak.

Doug Williams pinned Shannon Moore after a brain buster in 0:09:41.

MAIN EVENT: The Age of Shane (Paul Burchill & Austin Aries) vs. Samoa Joe & Ron "The Truth" Killings

This was less of a match and more of a 15 minute brawl.  The ref ended up having to let a lot go because frankly, there was no way he was ever really going to control the match.  Killings spent a lot of time brawling with Aries on the outside, while Joe tried to settle his grudge with Paul Burchill in the ring (for the most part).  Michael Shane wasn't present at ringside at first, but it didn't take long for Shane and his girlfriend Traci to strut down to the ring and begin to stick there noses where they didn't belong.  At one point Killings hit Burchill with the Consequence and Joe tried to pin him (Joe being the legal man technically), but Burchill kicked out.  Burchill also managed to kick out of the Island Driver.  Joe managed to fight out of all of Burchill's attempts at the C4 and Aries roll in the match seemed to be to get knocked out, then when things looked bad for Burchill with Killings and Joe pretty much double teaming him, Aries would make the incredible save, hitting some big impressive dive to knock both of them out and let Burchill get back in the driver seat.  Shane & Traci's roll in the match seemed to pretty much be limited to cheap shots.  In the end Joe and Burchil traded shots in the middle of the ring as Killings slid Aries out of the ring and into Shane head first on his stomach.  Killings jumped to the apron and hit Shane with an axe kick from the apron to the floor!  Joe got the advantage over Burchill and had him reeling after some stiff shots.  Joe bounces off the ropes and hits a lariat... but Burchill no sells!  Joe tries again, but Burchill ducks!  C4!  One! Two! THREE!!

[MAIN EVENT]:
Paul Burchill and Austin Aries defeated Samoa Joe and Ron Killings when Burchill pinned Joe with the C4 in 0:15:02.
Rating: *** 3/4
[Michael Shane interfered against Samoa Joe.]

After the match Killings jumps into the ring and tries to hit Burchill with a jumping side kick, but Burchill gets out of the way and exits the ring.  The Age of Shane laughs all the way up the ramp as Killings sees if Joe is ok.

Here's what we've already got lined up for next week: Austin Aries will be in singles action against H.B. Cade, we'll hear from Harry Smith and Shocker who indirectly defeated the Great Lakes Tag Team Champions tonight and in the main event, it has just been signed... a #1 Contender Triple Threat Match featuring Samoa Joe, Ron Killings and Paul Burchill!

Harry Smith and Shocker surprise a lot of people and when they beat two more established teams in a non-title match.  One would have to think that Lashley and Toland would give them a title shot, but that's not guaranteed since Smith didn't pin one of them.

Siaki wins a match he should have.  Abercrombie is not faring well since being released from his developmental deal.  Siaki continues to rule the school.

Danielson picks up a good win over Cade.  I really like what you've done with Danielson.  He's my favorite to be your first secondardy champion whenever you introduce the title.

Moore does hit his first bump in the row, but Doug Williams has been ultra impressive in GLWF, so no shame in that.  Minus making the huge error in focus to lose it.  Muhahahahaha.

Wow... was not expecting Burchill to get the clean pinfall on Joe.  Not a bad thing, but it looks like Joe is going to have to be rid of Burchill before he gets another shot at Shane.

Burchill is tha man.. no-selling Joe's lariat! Wow. The C4 is an awesome move, seeing Joe take it would have been interesting, but considering the big man's stamina, I don't think it would have been a problem.

You need another proper tag-team or two I think.. Shocker and Harry Smith is an odd combination. Didn't Smith tag with Danielson earlier on?

Smith and Danielson was another informal pairing.  And yeah, the tag team "division" is pretty suck, but I guess I'm just having a hard time juggling everything (in the TNM world and the real world)
