GLWF Action TV: 4/9/05...

americamamushiPosted on 01/23/06 at 09:51:49

I know, I'm usually more diligent about keeping up with Snabbit888's pace, but things have been real rough for me lately.  Sorry. :(  Hopefully my work isn't suffering too much.

[hr]

Welcome once again to GLWF Action TV!  We're back at the GLWF facilities in good old Kalamazoo, Michigan for what should be a great night of action.  We'll see Bryan Danielson team up with Harry Smith to face Doug Williams and Austin Aries, Michael Shane faces Josh Abercrombie in non-title action, the Destruction Crew defends their tag team titles against H.B. Cade & Rave, and in the main event, a #1 Contender's match between Samoa Joe and Paul Burchill!  Let's get down to the ring for the introductions in our first match of the evening...

Clara Michaels: Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the GLWF!  Our first match is a tag team match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... at a total combined weight of 436lbs... "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson & "Bulldog" Harry Smith!  And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 437lbs... Austin Aries & "The Anarchist" Doug Williams!

Danielson started off the match and wanted to be in the ring with Williams, but Williams sent Aries in to kick things off.  Danielson and Aries exchanged some really nice spots.  Aries managed to get the better of Danielson only after dodging a flying cross body and hitting a quick somersault slam.  Aries pushed Danielson back into his corner and Williams took the opportunity to tag himself in, since Danielson was dazed.  Aries protested the tag, but was sent out of the ring while Williams took over, doing everything in his power to keep Danielson down.  Danielson tried to fight back, but just couldn't.  The best AmDrag could do was barely roll out of the way of an attempt by Williams at a springboard moonsault.  It gave Danielson enough time to make a hot tag to Smith.  Aries hit the ring quickly since Williams was still stunned after finding no one home and also since Aries wanted to avenge his loss to Smith last week, which he was no doubt yelled at for by Michael Shane.  Smith let loose a house of fire sending both Aries and Williams crashing to the mat, one after another with fists, clotheslines and bodyslams.  Danielson recovered enough to rana Aries from inside the ring, over the top rope to the floor from Danielson's spot on the apron.  Smith looked to be in good shape as he picked a seemingly groggy Williams up for the Running Powerslam and the win, but as Smith took off from the corner into the middle of the ring Williams slid off Smith's back and continued their momentum the rest of the way across the ring into the far corner, and rolled him back hitting the Chaos Theory!  Smith uses all he has to kick out, but it's a split second too late.

Doug Williams and Austin Aries defeated Harry Smith and Bryan Danielson when D. Williams pinned Smith with the Chaos Theory in 0:08:06.

Sonny Siaki: Last week the Amazing Red did something that was completely uncalled for.  Red stepped over the line and somehow destroyed my Universal championship title.  Last week I was in shock at what he did.  This week I'm going to do what I was unable to one week ago and put the Amazing Red back on the disabled list for ripping up my belt.

Sonny Siaki tries to meet Red on the outside, but isn't quick enough as once Siaki has exited the ring, Red has entered it, and just as quickly, jumped back to the outside hitting a moonsault plancha.  Red throws Siaki into the ring, the match officially starts, and Red is already trying to get a quick three, but only gets one.  Red stays on top, giving Siaki a pace that he can't handle with his level of daze and not letting up long enough for Siaki to recover.  Siaki has to make his own opening and slides out of the ring to the safety of the outside.  Siaki grabs a chair from ringside, but Red doesn't see that he has it!  Red bounces off the far rope and goes diving through the ropes for a tope, but is met with a sickening thud from a Sonny Siaki chair shot!  If Siaki hadn't lost it before, he sure has down as he is trying to tear Red to pieces with chair shots.  Siaki could feel he wasn't going to win again and just decided to provide some pain any way he could.  We know that's his M.O.  when he's backed into corner.  Siaki has to be restrained by security and the entire reffing crew and forcefully carried to the back.  It takes Red a little while to recover, but does manage to limp his way to the back with very little help.

Amazing Red defeated Sonny Siaki by disqualification in 0:06:36.

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a non-title singles match scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... from Kalamazoo, Michigan... weighing in at 195lbs... Josh Abercrombie!  And his opponent... accompanied to the ring by Traci Brooks... from San Antonio, Texas... weighing in at 201lbs... he is the Great Lakes Heavyweight champion... "The Essence of Excellence" Michael Shane!

Abercrombie came out like a ball of fire and caught Shane off guard.  Abercrombie probably figures he doesn't have much to lose, but if he manages to beat the Heavyweight champ, even in non-title action, that says a lot.  Abercrombie had some impressive offense as the match opened, but went to the well too many times and Shane flipped out of a Northern Lights Suplex, following it with a swinging neckbreaker to gain the lead.  The match was fast paced and spot heavy.  Shane finished Abercrombie off after a back suplex and the Picture Perfect Elbow from the top rope.

[NON-TITLE MATCH]:
Michael Shane pinned Josh Abercrombie with the Picture Perfect Elbow in 0:05:35.

Apparently there is a bit of a disturbance in the crowd... it's... it's Shannon Moore?  Shannon Moore is walking around in his wrestling gear with a clipboard.  Now he's being talked to by security and escorted out o the building.  He's goes reluctantly, but without incident.  We've just been told that Moore was trying to get fans to sign a petition to bring him into GLWF.  Word is that after the incident with GCW, he wants to enter the GLWF and try and get at GCW from the inside since GLWF hires independently from GCW, even though GCW is GLWF's parent company.

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a tag team match scheduled for one fall and is for the Great Lakes Tag Team titles!  Introducing first...  at a total combined weight of 496lbs... Raven & "The Showstopper" H.B. Cade!  And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 485lbs... they are the Great Lakes Tag Team champions... Bobby "The Bulldozer" Lashley... Tank Toland... the Destruction Crew!

These two teams have already developed a history in the few months since the birth of GLWF.  Raven & Cade would like nothing more than to be the ones to dethrone Lashley & Toland.  They were able to earn another title shot after both Raven & H.B. Cade defeated a member of the Destruction Crew in singles action.  They didn't win without controversy, but the main point is that they did win and the ref can't call what he doesn't see.  This third tag team meeting was a fairly basic one.  Not a lot of flash and not the best meeting between the two, but it wasn't bad by any means.  Cade tried to stand toe to toe with Lashley in a battle of strength, and lost.  Cade was smart enough to change his game plan after that.  Raven's years of experience over each of his opponents helped him quite a bit as he was able to see even small mistakes and capitalize on them.  Things went to hell after Cade accidentally hit Raven after Lashley ducked a punch.  Lashley nailed a harsh enzuilariato on Cade, knocking him into Raven, who was sent flying off the apron to the floor.  Lashley turned Cade around, picked him up, and drove him into the canvas with the Hammer of the God.

The Destruction Crew (Bobby Lashley and Tank Toland) defeated H.B. Cade and Raven when Lashley pinned H.B. Cade with the Hammer of the Gods in 0:12:57.
Rating: * 3/4
(The Destruction Crew retained the Great Lakes Tag Team titles.)

Clara Michaels: And now for the main event of the evening.  It is a #1 Contender's match for the Great Lakes Heavyweight title that is scheduled for one fall!  Introducing first... from Guildford, Surrey, England... weighing in at 280lbs... Paul Burchill!  And his opponent... from Orange County, California... weighing in at 270lbs... Samoa Joe!

This bout really had a "Battle of the behemoths" feel to it.  It was a match filled with stiff hits and bone crushing slams.  Both of these guys want a shot at Michael Shane, and with good reason, first he's the champion, second for Samoa Joe, Michael Shane has been a thorn in his side since the beginning.  Burchill has also been screwed by Michael Shane, as well as, in his eyes, Samoa Joe.  Both men used every suplex, slam and driver they have in their arsenal.  Each time the victim would crash to the mat with a sickening thud and kick out just before the ref counted three.  It was an amazing site that either man was able to keep going after some of the moves they were hit with.  Burchill looked to have it wrapped up after hitting the C4, but Joe was too close to the side of the ring and got his leg on the bottom rope to break the pin.  Burchill couldn't believe it and sat there next to Joe for a second, seeming to be trying to contemplate what he could throw at Joe to put him away.  Joe grabbed Burchill in the Kokina Clutch out of no where!  Burchill struggled for a minute trying to roll over to reach the ropes he knew he was so close to, but were on the otherside of him.  Burchill seemed to be fading... and damn it!  Here comes the Age of Shane!  Michael Shane grabs the ref and throws him out of the ring and he and Aries go to work on Joe and Burchill!  The ref calls for the bell and it's going to be a no contest as Shane and Aries take advantage of Joe and Burchill's beaten state. Shane seems to be working under the assumption that if neither man wins, he doesn't have to face either, which is nice in theory, but he has to know that the booking committee will still give the fans a title match.  Of course, if he can injure either man, that'd be a huge advantage if it was still one of them he had to face.  Shane and Aries are still laying the leather to Samoa Joe and Paul Burchill but Joe and Burchill are working their way to their feet!  How are they doing this!  Shane and Aries back off with looks on their faces like they've just crapped themselves.  They are backed into the corner but Joe and Burchill... and Shane shoves Aries into them and gets the hell of the ring!  Shane just fed Austin Aries to the lions to save his own ass!  Burchill hits the C4!  Then spikes a Muscle Buster by Samoa Joe!  And no Joe locks in the Kokina Clutch!  Aries is out cold and Joe still has it on tight!  Finally Joe releases the hold, Shane is standing at the entrance way with Traci in disbelief as Joe and Burchill stare eachother down in the middle of the ring.

[MAIN EVENT]: Number-One-Contenders-Match:
Paul Burchill and Samoa Joe battled to no contest in 0:18:29.
Rating: *** 1/2

What a show tonight and we're still left without a #1 Contender for Michael Shane's title, the booking committee has however promised us that next week, live from right here in Kalamazoo that will change as we'll have a #1 Contender's Re-Match between Paul Burchill and Samoa Joe in a match that must end by pinfall or submission.  Not only that, but if any member of the Age of Shane shows their face at ringside during the match Michael Shane will be stripped of the Great Lakes Heavyweight title and will not be allowed in a title match of any kind for one full year!  Also confirmed for next week are another meeting between Bryan Danielson and Doug Williams, Tank Toland vs. Rene Dupree where if Dupree wins, he and a partner of his choice get a shot at the Great Lakes Tag titles, and finally Shocker and Josh Abercrombie will team up to face Amazing Red and a partner of Red's choice, but the question is, will Red even be in any condition to wrestle?  Thanks for joining us tonight for GLWF Action TV, make sure to join us next week same time, same place for more great wrestling!

Good opening contest.  Yay Doug Williams doing GCW proud. :)  Smith seems close, but not quite there to taking the next step.

That goes to show you don't mess with Siaki's Universal Title!

Not a lot to say about the non-title match other than hey, not really surprisingly.

Very cool bit with Shannon Moore.  I'm intrigued.

The Destruction Crew keep on winning, and I keep applauding.  Lashley particularly rules hard.

I liked the main event as well.  Good match, good finish, and sets up the rematch next week.  Looking forward to seeing who wins a clean cotnest between Joe and Burchill.

When are you going to screw Snabby over and have a GCW guy lose? Seriously though, fair play to Williams.

I'm hoping Siaki kills Red for daring to destroy his title. Still, maybe he can drag out a mangled version and call it the Universal Hardcore title.

Hang on, I just saw the bit with Shannon Moore. Maybe you ARE having it out at GCW.

Burchill and Joe continue to kick ass - I'd have been disappointed with the ending were it not for the announcement of a rematch, which is good.

Yeah, I was pleased with it when I originally was outlining a bunch of shows, then it rolled around IRL and I was a bit afraid that it wasn't going to end up going over with everyone after all.  I'm pleased to see you and Snabby aren't outside my house with torches... yet... ;)
