GLWF Action TV: 2/26/05...

americamamushiPosted on 11/23/05 at 04:30:55

Welcome once again to GLWF Action TV!  We're coming to you from our facilities in Kalamazoo, Michigan and have we got a great show for you!  We'll start the tournament for the Great Lakes Tag Team Titles, which will include the debut of two brand new wrestlers to GLWF, a team that has been making waves on the independent scene as of late.  It's going to be one hell of a night so lets... *Michael Shane's music hits* Oh no.  I guess we're going to hear from our Great Lakes Heavyweight champion again this week.  Not exactly my favorite way to start off Action TV, but let's hear what he has to say this time.

Michael Shane is with Traci Brooks and Austin Aries in the ring.  Shane seems to just be eating up the boos from the crowd.

Michael Shane: You can boo all you want, but one day you'll realize that I'm the greatest thing in pro wrestling and it'll be too late to latch your little wagon onto my star.  Things sure have kicked up a notch since I beat Samoa Joe not once, but twice. *boos*  Joe has been walking around the locker room bitching to everyone that'll listen about his losses.  He's even started making up stories that I cheated.  Me of all people cheated.  It's a good thing Joe is a big fat samoan and not a little wooden boy because that nose could be considered an illegal weapon by now with all the lies he's telling.  And then last week.  I heard a lot of you little keyboard warriors weren't happy with what happened after Joe's match with Ernest Miller last week.  The essence of excellence is in the driver seat here in GLWF.  I'm gonna do what I want when I want and right now I want to drill it into Joe's big thick skull that I'm number one and that Joe isn't even number two.  This man *points to Aries* is number two.  You all were probably wondering what he was doing with me last week and I'll tell you.  I know talent when I see it.  All he needs is a little nurturing in the ways of excellence and he'll be on his way to the top.  Well... not quite the top... because there is only room for one at the top and I'm not going anywhere.  From now on Aries is my right hand man.  I bet you'd all like to see us wrestle in the tournament tonight wouldn't you?  I course you would, I am Michael Shane after all.  Who could blame you for wanting to see me wrestle.  But I'm the Heavyweight champion.  Me and Aries aren't going to demean ourselves with a lowly tag tournament.  I mean, I admit we have some good talent here in GLWF... but Austin Aries is great... and Michael Shane is BEYOND great.  And with Traci in our corner, this team is going to rule the GLWF, welcome to the Age... of... Shane!

Clara Michaels: Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Great Lakes Wrestling Federation!  Our first match is a tag team match in the tournament for the Great Lakes Tag Team titles and is scheduled for one fall.  Introducing first... at a total combined weight of 391lbs... Shocker & Josh Abercrombie! And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 550lbs... Samoa Joe & Paul Burchill!

Shocker & Abercrombie went into this knowing that they had two monsters on their hands and that both were angry.  The deck was really stacked and it wasn't in their favor.  Shocker and Abercrombie unleashed a fast and furious onslaught of flying and risk that paid off big.  The match looked more like a tornado tag match as all four men were either in or out of the ring and Joe & Burchill just had a hard time dealing with the quickness of Shocker & Abercrombie's flying attacks.  It was awe inspiring that Abercrombie and Shocker were doing so well and against two big grumpy guys that were heavily favored to win.  They'd try, but nothing would stick.  Shocker and Abercrombie just kept going at them as fast and hard as they could and got lucky that every high risk move paid off in a big way.  They weren't really getting any near falls, but they were chopping down the trees in the forest of wrestling and moving ever closer to the green pastures of sweet victory.  And then it happened.  The bottom fell out.  Samoa Joe and Burchill just... snapped.  Actually, it's surprising they kept relatively cool for this long.  Burchill threw Abercrombie to the outside with a press slam and followed him out, hitting punishing power moves onto the unforgiving floor.  Joe hit kicks to Shocker so hard that the fans sitting ringside could feel it.  Joe hit a big island driver and hit dropped Shocker on his head with a Dragon Suplex.  Joe rolled Shocker limp body over and pinned him to move him and Burchill on to the semi-finals.

[Great Lakes Tag Team Title Tournament - Quarter-Finals]:
Samoa Joe and Paul Burchill defeated Shocker and Josh Abercrombie when Joe pinned Shocker after a dragon suplex in 0:10:59.
Rating: **** 1/4

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a tag team match in the tournament for the Great Lakes Tag Team titles and is scheduled for one fall.  Introducing first... at a total combined weight of 436lbs... "Bulldog" Harry Smith & "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson!  And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 441lbs... "The Next" Alex Shelley & "Ace in the Hole" Sonny Siaki!

Earlier today Danielson is said to have given Harry Smith quite the pep talk and told Smith that he needs to really get his head into the game and do the memory of his father proud.  Smith really took this to heart and has been "in the zone" all day.  The match started strongly in favor of Alex Shelley as he caught Danielson off guard before the bell and kept the advantage.  Danielson  couldn't catch a break and Smith couldn't catch a tag and boy was he just wanting like hell to get in the ring.  Shelley running the show turned into Siaki running the show and surprisingly Siaki's penchant for showboating didn't lose him the offensive.  Danielson was trying hard to regain any form of control but Shelley & Siaki must've been watching "Classic Heel Tag Team Tactic: The Home Video" because they stayed one step ahead and kept Danielson cut off.  Finally Danielson managed to hit an enzuigiri on Shelley that shook him long enough to get a hot tag which brought in Harry Smith who unleashed a big house of fire.  After punches and hard slams and hiptosses Siaki tried to seek refuge outside of the ring, but Smith and Danielson had the clever idea of Smith Gorilla pressing Danielson over the top rope and onto Siaki.  Shelley stumbled to his feet and right into Smith's waiting arms as he hit a huge running powerslam, but he didn't pin him.  The crowd started chanting "One more time!" so Smith picked Shelley up and hit him with another, this time staying ontop for the pin.  Looks like Harry got his groove back.

[Great Lakes Tag Team Title Tournament - Quarter-Finals]:
Harry Smith and Bryan Danielson defeated Alex Shelley and Sonny Siaki when Smith pinned A. Shelley with the Running Powerslam in 0:14:05.
Rating: *** 3/4

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a tag team match in the tournament for the Great Lakes Tag Team titles and is scheduled for one fall.  Introducing first... at a total combined weight of 354lbs... "The Barbaric Berserker" Jimmy Jacobs & "Textbook" Tyson Dux!  And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 496lbs... Raven and "The Showstopper" H.B. Cade!

Jimmy Jacobs and Tyson Dux just weren't as ready to face H.B. Cade & Raven as they thought they were.  There was never really any "Tag team" in this match.  The two teams brawled until Dux & Cade ended up on the outside and Raven & Jacobs were still in the ring.  Dux and Jacobs both had slight comebacks and it almost seemed like they were on the same page even though one was in and the other out of the ring.  Cade ended Dux's comeback attempt by throwing him head first into the corner post.  Jacobs' comeback attempt lasted slightly longer.  Jacobs even tried for the Contra Code, but Raven through Jacobs off.  Jimmy landed on his feet and charged back at Raven, but was met with a boot and a Raven Effect.

[Great Lakes Tag Team Title Tournament - Quarter-Finals]:
Raven and H.B. Cade defeated Jimmy Jacobs and Tyson Dux when Raven pinned J. Jacobs with the Raven Effect in 0:05:26.
Rating: ** 3/4

Clara Michaels: Our next match is a tag team match in the tournament for the Great Lakes Tag Team titles and is scheduled for one fall.  Introducing first... at a total combined weight of 474lbs... "The French Phenom" Rene Dupree & "The Cat" Ernest Miller!  And their opponents... at a total combined weight of 485lbs... Tank Toland... Bobby "The Bulldozer" Lashley... The Destruction Crew!

For some reason Dupree & Miller can't seem to get in the ring without arguing about dancing.  Actually... Miller & Dupree argue about a lot of things.  I guess it just doesn't occur to them that maybe teaming together isn't the best idea if they can't even decide who will start the match without a quarrel.  Toland & Lashley showed that they've been doing this for at least a little while before coming to the GLWF, because they worked extremely well together.  Their tandem moves were crisp and their tags well timed.  They only seemed to have a little trouble, mostly with Miller's martial arts moves and Dupree's cheating.  Toland & Lashley's names (Tank & Bulldozer) definitely proved appropriate.  Lashley used sheer power to bulldoze'em down and Toland mowed over them like a tank.  Toland may be a bit on the smaller side as far as height and weight, but he's definitely a force and is more powerful than his build lets on.  Miller & Dupree were on something of a roll towards the end.  Dupree dodged an attempt by Toland at the Tank Turret, but unfortunately in the recent melee had forgotten that Lashley was actually the legal man and Lashley hit a kick to the midsection and hit the Hammer of the Gods!  Tank sent Miller back out of the ring with the Tank Turret and Lashley picked Dupree up in a reverse powerbomb and held him up.  Toland went up top and hit a bulldog!  The Desolation!  If Dupree wasn't out before he sure as hell is now!  Lashley rolls him over and pins him for a successful debut.

[Great Lakes Tag Team Title Tournament - Quarter-Finals]:
The Destruction Crew (Bobby Lashley and Tank Toland) defeated Rene Dupree and Ernest Miller when Lashley pinned R. Dupree after the Desolation in 0:15:53.

What a night from GLWF.  We've started the path to the tag team titles and next week, it'll be Samoa Joe & Paul Burchill vs. Harry Smith & Bryan Danielson as well as Raven & H.B. Cade taking on the newcomers who made a big impact tonight the Destruction Crew.  We've also just heard that Sonny Siaki will be in action and he has said that he will be defending his "title" as well.  We'll see you next week for the semi-finals of the Great Lakes Tag Team title tournament!

How Harry got his groove back - I see a movie in that. Personally, I reckon Joe and Burchill will take the tournament, but I also reckon I'm wrong.

YES! A Siaki title defense. Now that'll be a big highlight for me. Nice stuff.

Siaki's Character is the most entertaining in the GLWF and it was good to see Dux and Abercrombie getting some GCW love. Bentley is a credible champ given your roster. I hope Siaki and his zany ways find him defending the title in other places in the Universe and not just in GLWF arenas. GCW Could really benefit from a Siaki Title defense against Shark Boy.

Yay Michael Shane! He's a very credible champion to start. Only thing abou the opening segment I didn't like was I felt Aries needed to say at least something.

Not a surprise to see Samoa Joe and Burchill get the victory. I fully expect to see them in the finals.

Harry Smith finally looked dominant, and that was a huge win for he and the American Dragon. That semi-final match is going to be a tough one to call... I'm going with Joe and Burchill, but would not be surprised to see Smith/Danielson take it.

Raven and H.B. Cade win, which isn't a huge surprise. Jacobs is entertaining though. He'll be fun come GCW time.

Great win for the Destruction Crew in their debut. Glad to see Tank Toland stop being a dick. Match went a little longer than I would have liked, mostly since the Cat and Dupree haven't really been pushed as anything special thus far in GLWF. Semi-finals should be fun.

Yay Siaki! Looking forward to his title shut.
