Match #1
Non-Title Match
Paul London (Cruiserweight champion) vs. Chris Hero
This week's edition of High Voltage kicked off with a great singles match pitting the reigning Cruiserweight champion Paul London against Chris Hero in a non-title match (Hero exceeds the 225-pound weight limit to qualify for a Cruiserweight Title shot). Both of these men respected the other's abilities in the ring and had solid game plans, but London managed to keep more of the momentum on his side during the match. London was able to capitalize on more openings than Hero was, and as a result, he was able to hit the London Calling and put another victory on his record.

Paul London pinned Chris Hero with the London Calling in 0:08:06.
Rating: *** 1/4

Match #2
Shark Boy vs. John Bradshaw Layfield (w/ Lamont)
JBL came into Global Championship Wrestling amidst a lot of hype, but up until this point, to say that he's been a bust would be a huge understatement. JBL has yet to pick up a single victory in a GCW ring, and as a result, GCW President Ryan Niemiller has taken away many of JBL's perks, such as provided limo drivers. JBL hired his own in the form of Lamont though, so at least he has that figured out. But would JBL be able to figure out Shark Boy and pick up his first win was the question tonight. Right after the opening bell, the two men locked up, JBL separated from the lockup and clocked Shark Boy with a right hand and Shark Boy... fell lifeless on the mat? JBL's punch was enough to knock Shark Boy unconscious. JBL had a huge smile on his face as he picked up his opponent's limp body and put on a side headlock. Referee Petey Pluck saw that Shark Boy was responding and called for the bell, awarding the match to JBL.

John Bradshaw Layfield defeated Shark Boy when Shark Boy passed out in a side headlock in 0:00:36.
Rating: ** 3/4

Layfield celebrated as if he had just won the World Heavyweight Title. An instant replay revealed that the punch JBL hit Shark Boy with was no ordinary punch, but one aided with brass knuckles! JBL is so unconfident right now that he had to resort to cheating to beat Shark Boy all due respect to Shark Boy, but he has been on the losing end more often than not in GCW). Never the less, despite the manner in which he did it, JBL is of the snide.

Match #3
Abyss vs. Matt Stryker
We were once again blessed with an appearance by Matt Stryker and his tag team partner, Unibrow, on High Voltage, but unfortunately for Stryker, he was taking on Abyss. Stryker was fiery to start, getting in some standard punches and dropkicks on the behemoth, but it became obvious that Abyss was simply toying with Stryker. Even without the guidance of Shaniqua, Abyss had no trouble putting Stryker away.

Abyss pinned Matt Stryker with the Black Hole Slam in 0:06:56.
Rating: ** 1/4

Match #4
MAIN EVENT
The World's Greatest Tag Team vs. Booker T/Goldust
Our main event featured a great tag team contest with the World's Greatest Tag Team taking on the oddball team of Booker T and Goldust. Booker T and Goldust surprised a lot of people tonight with how well they worked together. Their partnership has been rocky at best to start (mostly due to Goldust's sick infatuation with Booker and Booker's all-around loathing of Goldust), but tonight was the first real sign that they had started to gel as a unit, taking the former World Tag Team champions to the limits. They had things going their way for awhile, but a missed Axe Kick from Booker T resulted in receiving a dragon screw from Shelton Benjamin, and this was the beginning of the end. Booker tried to fight back, but his knee was picked apart and he eventually was forced to tap out to Charlie Haas' dangerous leglock, the Haas of Pain.

The World's Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) defeated Booker T and Goldust when C. Haas made Booker submit to the Haas of Pain in 0:10:41.
Rating: ****

A great match to end a solid episode of High Voltage. Be sure to join us tomorrow night for Monday Night Explosion where we will see the continuation of the first round of the Best of the best tournament! See you tomorrow!

Hurray London!

Boo JBL.  I was hoping Shark Boy would win... I mean... I knew he wouldn't... but still... poor little Shark Boy.  I'm kinda hoping Lamont will turn on JBL eventually.  I think that may be amusing down the line, like a DiBiase/Virgil thing.

I was kinda surprised Abyss let things go on with Stryker for that long.  I thought for sure he'd end it in just a minute or two.

YAY!  BOOKER & GOLDY!  Oh... they lost.  Oh well, it's good to see them together again.  :)  With WGTT's interest in getting a title shot against Ki & Skipper it's good that they got the win to help build them up for the shot, even though it was over Bookerdust.  I've decided due to their love (well... Goldust's) they should be refered to as a single entity. ;)

Huzzah for London. I've never really seen anything in Chris Hero, but to be fair, I've only seen a couple CZW shows.

I would've thought that JBL's first win would've been better suited to the main show instead of High Voltage. But then, he might not even deserve to be there.

ABYSS!!!!

Huzzah for Booker T and Goldust. Boo for no promo from them.
