[GCW] Monday Night Explosion - 5/3/04

Snabbit888Posted on 05/12/04 at 06:26:30

We are LIVE in St. Louis, Missouri for Monday Night Explosion! We are less than three weeks away from our next pay-per-view extravaganza, Mayhem, and things are getting started. On tonight's card, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit makes his first World Heavyweight Title defense against "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer! AJ Styles will defend the Television Title against the man whose life he's been making a living hell since the inception of GCW, The Amazing Red! Also, scores will be settled as Brock Lesnar and Goldust meet in a no-holds-barred streetfight! Let's get right to it!

* * * * *

[Fireworks and pyro greet the excited St. Louis, Missouri crowd as the opening to Explosion concludes. As the lights come back up, "Medal" starts which prompts a chorus of boos. Out from the back steps the Sensationals, looking much happier than they did last week. Randy Orton comes out first with his newly won North American Title around his waist. Orton outlasted three other men last week to take the title, and you can tell how proud of himself he was as he played to the fans. Kurt Angle and "Y2J" Chris Jericho are behind Orton, and they look equally smug. Alongside Jericho is his new lackey Justin Credible. Credible is wearing a Monday Night Jericho t-shirt and looks absolutely ecstatic to be coming to the ring with The Sensationals. They enter the ring as Randy Orton was handed the microphone from ringside.]

RO: Now normally, a physical specimen like myself would be a little upset if he put on 15 pounds in a week, but you know, it's not nearly as upsetting when it's 15 pounds of gold! Three men thought that they were better than me, but I showed them otherwise. I am the future of this business, and this North American championship is proof of that. And I'm going to be the greatest North American champion of all-time. Sure, the first one quit the day after winning the title, but that's besides the point! So I'm going to make my first title defense tonight. Benoit making his first title defense is nothing compared to the legend of Randy Orton that begins tonight! So here's the deal. Anyone in the back who wants a piece of me and my North American Title, you just go and step up to the plate. I'll be here all night. The ladies know what I'm talking about.

[Orton smirks as he hands the microphone over to Kurt Angle.]

KA: The Sensationals are now holding some gold, but that's not enough for us. Last week, I never got my answer from President Niemiller telling me that I am the number-one contender for the World Heavyweight Title. Now I know Benoit is giving the first title shot to Tommy Dreamer tonight, but that's fine. I main event pay-per-views and pack 20,000 people arenas; Dreamer could barely fill a bingo hall, it's true. Niemiller, you hired me, you should know my resume. But for anyone who's been living under a rock, let me refresh your memories. In 1996 down in Atlanta, Georgia, I won an Olympic gold medal, with a broken freakin' neck, mind you! I took on the best in the world and dominated using my superb integrity, intensity, and intelligence. I've won the World championship in amateur wrestling, and I have excelled in the professional ranks as well. When you think of Kurt Angle, you think "World champion." To not make me the number-one contender is a crime against nature! So do the right thing, Niemiller. You'll make me the number-one contender if you know what's good for you, oh it's damn true!

[Jericho takes the mic from Angle as the crowd is booing Angle loudly. Jericho smiles as a tiny "Y2J" chant is heard, but it is quickly drowned out by the jeers of the crowd.]

CJ: You know, Kirk, that is an impressive resume. You've done a lot. You're a superstar... but you're not Y-2-J-ah! You won a gold medal, that's true, but I was the first ever Undisputed Heavyweight champion of the world! That, and you're also not the Paragon of Virtue for millions of Jerichaholics worldwide! Just listen to them chant my name!

[Jericho pauses hoping to hear a loud Y-2-J chant, but is instead greeted by an "ASSHOLE!" chant.]

CJ: See that? They love me, Kirk! What I'm trying to say, Kirk, is that despite all of your accolades, I am the king of the world, and if anyone deserves that number-one contendership, it's the Ayatollah of Rock-n-Rollah!

[The crowd boos Jericho loudly. Angle gives Jericho a cross look, but they both turn their attentions to the aisleway when "Sexy Boy" sounds over the PA system, bringing the crowd to its feet. Out from the back steps "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, and along with him, "Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero. The two popular superstars receive a standing ovation as they make their way down to the ring. All five wrestlers in the ring are ready for battle, but nobody is making a move just yet. Michaels is handed a microphone from ringside.]

HBK: Listen here, JACK! Now everybody knows that ol' H-B-K is never shy about speaking his mind, but even I'm getting a little sick of this! Why don't all of you just shut your mouths?! [Crowd pop] Angle thinks he should be number-one contender, Jericho thinks he should be number-one contender, I know I want to be number-one contender... how about you, Eddie?

EG: Oh you know I want to be number-one contender, essa! And if Jericho thinks he's number-one contender, after I beat his ass last week, I *KNOW* I deserve to be number-on contender!

[The crowd cheers Guerrero loudly as Jericho throws a mini-fit in the ring.]

CJ: You better watch what you say to me, Eddie. One phone call to immigration and...

EG: Why don't you come say that to my face, holmes?

[The crowd cheers as Guerrero starts making his way down to the ring. Before he gets too far, GCW President Ryan Niemiller appears on the CW VideoTron.]

RN: All right, everybody calm down! If all of you want to pummel each other, that's fine. I'm all for hard-hitting wrestling matches, but it's going to be just that: a match! So if you four want a piece of each other, you'll get that opportunity tonight. In our main event, it'll be Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho versus Shawn Michaels and Eddie Guerrero!

[The crowd explodes into cheers as this will be a huge main event.]

KA: I think you're forgetting something, Niemiller. Shouldn't you be naming me number-one contender for the World Title now?

RN: No... because you're not number-one contender!

[The crowd pops again as Angle is livid.]

HBK: That's what I'm talking about!

RN: You're not number-one contender either, Shawn. Nor are you, Chris Jericho, not you Eddie Guerrero. What I'm going to do is give all of you an opportunity to be number-one contender. In a little under 3 weeks, the second GCW pay-per-view event will take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, entitled Mayhem. At Mayhem, there will be a number-one contenders match, and in this match, it will be Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, and Eddie Guerrero in a Four Corners Match! Elimination style! The last man standing will become the number-one contender, and will receive their World Heavyweight Title shot at the big pay-per-view spectacular in June, Super Cade!

[The crowd cheers this announcement loudly. What a match this is going to be!]

RN: Now gentlemen, if you don't mind, please exit the ring. We have a big night of action ahead of us, and you all have matches to prepare for.

[Cut to commercial]

Match #1
Lance Storm vs. "The Big Shot" Hardcore Holly
Both of these men were involved in the North American Title match last week, but fell just short. Storm eliminated Holly from the match last week, causing him to tap out to the Maple Leaf. This didn't sit well with Hardcore, who looked to get a matter of redemption tonight. Unfortunately for Holly, it looks like the Calgary, Alberta, Canada native has Holly's number. Holly picked Storm up and went for the Alabama Slam, but it was far too early. Lance Storm was able to block the attempt and catch Holly with a power bomb, which was just enough to garner a three count.

Lance Storm pinned Hardcore Holly after a power bomb in 0:03:15.
Rating: ***

Lance Storm rolled out of the ring to celebrate his victory as a pissed off Hardcore Holly blew off some steam in the ring. This has not been a good couple of weeks for the Big Shot.

Match #2
Cruiserweight Title Match
Low-Ki (c) (w/ Daffney) vs. Shannon "All That And" Moore
Low-Ki made his first Cruiserweight Title defense tonight by taking on Shannon "All That And" Moore. To be honest, Moore looked lost through a lot of this match. Moore's association with Matt Hardy is done for now as Hardy suffered a triceps tear last week, and Moore just didn't seem himself. Moore's a very capable athlete, and I honestly believe will be a star one day, but tonight was not that night. The ruthless unorthodox style of Low-Ki was far too much for Moore, as a Ki Krusher put Moore down and out.

Low-Ki pinned Shannon Moore with the Ki Crusher in 0:06:16.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Low-Ki retained the GCW Cruiserweight Title.)

Low-Ki wasn't done though as he nailed Moore with a couple of stiff kicks to the back. Before too much damage could be done, Rey Mysterio Jr. ran down to the ring to a huge pop and caught Low-Ki with a spinning leg lariat that knocked Low-Ki's throat onto the second rope. Mysterio attempted to hit the 6-1-9, but Low-Ki wisely got out of the ring as quickly as he possibly could. Mysterio grabbed a microphone from ringside before Low-Ki headed to the back.

* * * * *

[Rey Mysterio Jr. checks on Shannon Moore before taking a microphone from William Buck at ringside.]

RMJr. Low-Ki, I'm sick and tired of you and Triple X trying to bully everyone around! You try to bully me, Shannon Moore, Red... and it's going to stop! You all are a bunch of backfighters because you're scared! So why don't you prove that you're a real tough guy and meet me, one-on-one, face-to-face at Mayhem? I'll show you what wrestling as a cruiserweight is all about!

[Mysterio throws the mic down as he and Low-Ki engage in a staredown. Cut to commercial.]

* * * * *

[When we return from commercial, The Basham Brothers, Danny and Doug, are in the office of GCW President Ryan Niemiller, as is their manager Shaniqua.]

RN: How may I help you, Shaniqua?

S: I think you know exactly what I want. The Bashams here, the most dominant tag team in GCW, were promised a World Tag Team Title shot by Charlie Haas and that big heaping hunk of sexual chocolate Shelton Benjamin...

[Shaniqua pauses for a moment as she is flustered. She regains her composure and continues.]

S: ...and we want that title shot tonight!

RN: I understand your request, and the Bashams will be getting a World Tag Team Title shot very soon... but not tonight. I'll tell you what I'll do for you. No matter what, the Basham Brothers will be wrestling for the World Tag Team Titles at Mayhem. However, as Rob Conway has already defeated Shelton Benjamin...

[Niemiller has to pause as Shaniqua slams her riding crop against the desk in a strange moment of pleasure at the mention of Benjamin's name.]

RN: ... right... anyway, so if Nick Dinsmore defeats Charlie Haas in singles action tonight, at Mayhem it will be a triangle match featuring the World's Greatest Tag Team, Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore, and the Basham Brothers. Is that acceptable?

[Shaniqua looks at the Bashams, who seem very happy with this.]

S: Yes. Thank you, Mr. Niemiller, and if you're ever looking for a little fun...

[Shaniqua cracks the riding crop on the desk again, making Niemiller very uncomfortable.]

RN: I... think I'll be all right, thank you.

S: Your loss... let's go, boys.

[Shaniqua leads the Bashams out of the office as Niemiller adjusts his tie. Cut to the ring.]

* * * * *

Match #3
Television Title Match
"The Role Model" AJ Styles (c) vs. The Amazing Red
AJ Styles has been all over The Amazing Red since Red defeated Styles in the first-round of the Cruiserweight Title Tournament back on April 5th, attacking Red at every chance he can. If it weren't for AJ Styles, Red might be the Cruiserweight champion at this point. Red had no problems with becoming Television champion though as he took it right to Styles. This isn't the same AJ Styles Red beat a month ago. Styles is convinced in his head that he can beat anybody, and it really shows in the way he wrestles. Styles knew that Red's left knee was a little tender; he should because he is the one who injured it initially. Despite this, Red still seems to have Styles' number, always being a step ahead. Styles would get the better of Red tonight though as he rolled away from an InfraRed attempt by the Brooklyn native before hitting a power bomb. Styles showed that he isn't too confident in his ability to beat Red as he put his feet up on the ropes for added leverage and stole one from Red.

AJ Styles pinned Red after a power bomb in 0:08:58.
Rating: *** 1/2
(AJ Styles retained the GCW Television Title.)

Styles jumped out of the ring and grabbed his Television Title, knowing he escaped with one tonight. Red came to and looked a bit frustrated, knowing he had this one won. I'm sure Red will get another opportunity.

Match #4
Charlie Haas (1/2 World Tag team champions) (w/ Shelton Benjamin) vs. Nick Dinsmore (w/ "Ironman" Rob Conway)
This match took on more importance than we initially thought after President Niemiller's announcement earlier that the Basham Brothers will receive a World Tag Team Title shot against the World's Greatest Tag Team at Mayhem, but if Nick Dinsmore defeated Charlie Haas tonight, he and Rob Conway would be added to the mix! Dinsmore was fired up by this, and the crowd was really behind him. They've done it very quietly, but the fans have really taken to Dinsmore and Conway alike. This was an excellent wrestling match. Nothing too flashy, but they both kept it on the mat with some excellent chain wrestling exchanges. The end of this came as Shelton Benjamin saw that his partner looked to be in danger of losing, so he jumped up on the ring apron. Haas tried to irish whip Dinsmore towards Benjamin, but Dinsmore reversed it causing Haas to crash into Benjamin and sending Benjamin hard to the floor. Dinsmore went on the attack and named Haas with his German Suplex that few do better and just like that, we had ourselves a triangle match at Mayhem!

Nick Dinsmore pinned Charlie Haas with the German Suplex in 0:05:02.
Rating: *** 1/4

The crowd loudly applauded as Dinsmore and Conway celebrated. As we went to commercial, the World's Greatest Tag Team tried to make sense of what just happened.

Match #5
No-Holds-Barred Streetfight
Goldust vs. Brock Lesnar
On paper, this match would seem like it would be a massacre. Brock Lesnar is an unrelenting unmerciful monster, plain and simple. However, it's amazing what a man motivated can do against a monster, and that's exactly what Goldust is. Goldust got the early advantage as instead of coming out from the locker room, Goldust came through the crowd and was able to sneak behind Lesnar, hitting him in the back with a golden chair! The match was on, and this one was brutal. I have never seen this kind of fire in Goldust as he wasn't his normal playful self. He was an animal and he was not at all intimidated by Brock Lesnar. Lesnar couldn't seem to shake Goldust early until the Bizarre One tried to whip Lesnar into the ringsteps, but Lesnar reversed it. From there, Lesnar went on the attack, just picking Goldust apart. Lesnar busted Goldust wide open by smashing a glass pitcher filled with water from William Buck's table right across the face of the Golden One. Goldust kept fighting back, showing he wasn't going to lay down. However, if you put Lesnar in a streetfight environment, he's going to hurt you. Lesnar smashed Goldust with the ring bell which resonated throughout the arena. Lesnar then threw a section of the ringsteps with obvious evil intentions. Lesnar tossed Goldust in the ring and went to scoop Goldust up, but Goldust fought back with fists to the midsection and then out of nowhere, hit a huge bulldog on the ringsteps! Goldust made the cover as the crowd counter along with referee Jimmy Appleseed, but Lesnar barely got his shoulder off the canvas before the three. Goldust locked Lesnar up, looking to hit the Shock Treatment running powerslam, but Lesnar had the presence of mind to slip off. Lesnar quickly picked Goldust up and F-5'ed him right on he ringsteps! Lesnar draped an arm over the bloody Goldust and won a hard fought battle.

No-Countout-No-DQ-Match:
Brock Lesnar pinned Goldust with the F-5 in 0:09:50.
Rating: ***

Medical personnel ran into the ring to check on Goldust who looked to be in bad shape. Brock Lesnar may have come out of this victorious, but he got more than he bargained for from Goldust, who has nothing to be ashamed of in this losing effort.

Match #6
Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Justin Credible (w/ "Y2J" Chris Jericho)
Surprisingly, Chris Jericho came out with his lackey to see first hand what he can do, and to Justin Credible's credit, he went right at Rey Mysterio Jr. Jericho kept himself out of the match, wanting Credible to prove himself. Unfortunately for Mysterio, Low-Ki didn't have the same philosophy. While the Cruiserweight champion's manager Daffney had run down to distract referee JD Sanders while Mysterio had Credible set up for the 6-1-9. When Rey ran into the opposite ropes, Low-Ki caught him in the back with a hard kick to the kidneys. Mysterio stumbled into the ring where a revitalized Credible hit him with the That's Incredible to get the duke.

Justin Credible pinned Rey Mysterio Jr. with the That's Incredible in 0:03:58.
Rating: *** 1/4

As Credible celebrated as if he had just won the World Series, Low-Ki got in the ring and nailed Mysterio with the Ki Krusher. Low-Ki was handed a mic by Daffney where he uttered the words, "Consider your challenge... ACCEPTED." Low-Ki threw the mic at Mysterio as Daffney cackled and jumped around like only she can. Despite the circumstances, Chris Jericho seemed legitimately impressed that Justin Credible picked up a victory over someone the caliber of Rey Mysterio Jr.

* * * * *

[As we return from a commercial break, Randy Orton is standing in the middle of the ring with the North American Title over his shoulder and a microphone in hand. He's looking as smug as ever.]

RO: I have been waiting patiently all night for somebody to answer my open challenge. I'm giving anybody in the back a free shot at the North American Title. Is it that everybody is so scared of being outclassed and outshined by a third generation superstar like Randy Orton? So come on down, anybody!

[Orton waves somebody down, but nobody comes down.]

RO: Anybody? Anybody? [Orton drops to his knees] I'm begging and pleading, somebody come down here and get their ass kicked! Don't make me beg! I don't like begging!

[Just then, we hear "IT'S ME! IT'S ME! IT'S D-D-P!" followed by "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana is a nice pop. Kimberly comes out from the back first followed by Diamond Dallas Page.]

RO: What? You? I should have been more specific. When I said anybody, I meant anybody who isn't a washed-up...

[Before Orton can finish that statement, DDP punches him in the mouth. Referee Antonio Santangelo signals for the bell and the match is on!]

* * * * *

Match #7
North American Title Match
Randy Orton (c) vs. Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Kimberly)
Randy Orton said that he would face anybody tonight, and he got just that as Diamond Dallas Page answered the call. DDP is a seasoned veteran and has been in situations like this before, so he knew exactly how to deal with guys like Randy Orton. Orton's bravado almost got the better of him tonight, as not only was he not prepared for a match tonight, more specifically, he wasn't prepared for someone like Diamond Dallas Page, who will just hit you in the mouth straight on. Most of this match featured Randy Orton playing defense, not so much wrestling to win but rather wrestling to not lose. The only thing that saved Orton and his title tonight was a well-placed low blow when Antonio Santangelo wasn't looking. After that, Orton promptly hit the RKO and escaped with North American Title in tow.

Randy Orton pinned Diamond Dallas Page with the RKO in 0:08:49.
Rating: ** 1/4
(Randy Orton retained the GCW North American Title.)

Randy Orton's arrogance almost got the better of him, but he escaped still the champion.

Match #8
World Heavyweight Title Match
"The Crippler" Chris Benoit (c) vs. "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer
This is how a World Heavyweight Title match should be. Many people have said that Tommy Dreamer isn't the same wrestler he used to be back in the heyday of ECW. They've said that he can't cut it as a wrestler anymore. Well I think his performance against the World Heavyweight champion Chris Benoit should put many of those critics to rest. Dreamer knew what was at stake in this one, but so did Benoit as they went all out. Benoit's strategy was a little more polished than Dreamer's was, working over the back of Dreamer, which there's no secret is one of Dreamer's weak points. Dreamer had his own strategy though: hit Benoit as hard and as often as possible.

This was an extremely dramatic match with both wrestlers scoring several near-falls throughout the contest. The end of this fantastic contest came as Dreamer had brought Benoit down with the Dreamer DDT, but Benoit kicked out at 2 and 7/8. Dreamer was getting frustrated as he lifted Benoit up for a Death Valley Driver, but Benoit slipped off and locked Dreamer in the Crippler Crossface. Dreamer held on and almost crawled his way over to the ropes, but he just didn't have enough left in the tank as he was forced to tap out.

Chris Benoit made Tommy Dreamer submit to the Crippler Crossface in 0:16:38.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Chris Benoit retained the GCW World Heavyweight Title.)

Benoit's celebration was cut short as suddenly out of nowhere, Brock Lesnar was in the ring and nailed Benoit with a huge kick to the stomach. Lesnar clubbed Benoit in the back with a forearm before locking him up and tossing him with an overhead release belly-to-belly suplex. Lesnar lifted Benoit up and absolutely planted him with a power bomb that shook the ring. Lesnar wasn't finished yet as the ruthless beast lifted Benoit up for the F-5, but Tommy Dreamer caught Lesnar in the leg with a kendo stick shot. A couple more shots made Lesnar drop Benoit to the mat. Dreamer took a swing at Lesnar's head, but Lesnar ducked. Dreamer turned back around only to be caught by a Lesnar clothesline. Lesnar grabbed Dreamer's kendo stick and smashed it over Dreamer's head, causing it to crack! Dreamer fell in a heap as finally the GCW Official Brigade came in and separated Lesnar from the fallen Benoit and Dreamer.

* * * * * [After a commercial break, we see Brock Lesnar with a large gym bag over his shoulder heading in the direction of the parking lot. Before he gets to the doors, Mario Riviera catches up to him.]

MR: Brock Lesnar! Brock Lesnar! Why did you brutally attack World champion Chris Benoit like that?

BL: Why did I attack Chris Benoit? To make my point! I am the most dominant force in GCW! And when you mess with the most dominating force, you're going to get dominated! Benoit cost me the World Heavyweight Title at Deadly Draw by dropkicking me from behind like the coward he is! So now, I'm going to take it from him, by any means necessary! And as far as Tommy Dreamer goes, I had no intentions of hurting him, but when you get in my business, you're gonna get hurt!

MR: You said Benoit cowardly attacked you, but isn't jumping him from behind after a hard fought match cowardly too?

[Lesnar grabs Riviera by the shirt.]

BL: Are you calling me a coward, you little bastard?! Brock Lesnar is not afraid of anybody, you hear me?!

[Suddenly, Chris Benoit hits Lesnar from behind with a running forearm. Benoit begins tearing away at Lesnar with right hands to the head. Lesnar tries to fend Benoit off, pushing him away a couple times, but Benoit is right back on him. As Benoit pounds on Lesnar, the GCW Official Brigade runs in and pulls Benoit away. Lesnar grabs his bag and heads out of the building as quickly as possible.]

Match #9
MAIN EVENT
The Sensationals (Kurt Angle/"Y2J" Chris Jericho) vs. "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels/"Latino Heat" Eddie Guerrero
It was main event time, and we knew this was going to be a good one as Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho of the Sensationals took on Shawn Michaels and Eddie Guerrero. We learned earlier in the evening that these four will meet in a Four Corners Match at Mayhem with the number-one contendership for the World Heavyweight Title up for grabs, but tonight, they were involved in tag team action. The crowd was extremely into this match, hanging on every move each guy did. This match was just a lot of fun to watch, especially when Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero got together in the ring. The rivalry between these two goes far deeper than Global Championship Wrestling, but it has been rekindled with a passion this time around. These two know each other so well that it's a lot of fun to watch as they counter and re-counter each other, trying to come up with something the other hasn't seen before.

Great drama in this match that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats from bell-to-bell. The ending sequence took place as Shawn Michaels had just hit a flying elbowdrop on Chris Jericho and was calling for the Sweet Chin Music. As HBK went for the big superkick, Kurt Angle ran in and broke it up, bring Michaels down with a hard clothesline. Eddie Guerrero ran in and started brawling with Angle to a huge pop. As referee Jimmy Appleseed attempted to get Angle and Guerrero out of the ring, HBK got back to his feet and looked primed to hit the Sweet Chin Music again, but he was once again stopped, this time by Randy Orton who flew in the ring and dropped the Heartbreak Kid with the RKO! Orton slipped out of the ring as quickly as he had gotten there as Jericho put Michaels in the Walls of Jericho. Jimmy Appleseed turned around and saw that HBK was in the Walls of Jericho and wasn't moving, so he called for the bell.

The Sensationals (Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle) defeated Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels when Jericho defeated S. Michaels when S. Michaels passed out in the Walls Of Jericho in 0:13:19.
Rating: ****

The Sensationals weren't done though as Angle threw Eddie Guerrero hard into he ringsteps before jumping back in the ring. Jericho still had the Walls of Jericho on Shawn Michaels as Angle and Orton were stomping away on him until Rob Van Dam ran down to the ring! RVD climbed to the top and started by hitting Angle with jumping back kick, causing Angle to roll out of the ring. Orton tried to kick RVD in the gut, but the Whole F'n Show caught it and nailed Orton in the face with a stepover spin kick. RVD went after Jericho, but Jericho ran and tried to get out of the ring, but Eddie Guerrero was back up and caught Jericho with a shot to the gut through the ropes. Guerrero jumped in the ring and brought Jericho down with a brain buster. The crowd was on its feet as Guerrero called for RVD to go up top while Guerrero went to the top on the opposite turnbuckle. RVD jumped off and nailed Jericho with the Five Star Frog Splash which was promptly followed by the Frog Splash from Eddie Guerrero. The show went off the air with the Sensationals retreating to the back and Eddie Guerrero, Shawn Michaels, and Rob Van Dam standing tall in the ring.

Mayhem will take place on May 23rd live from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! The card, so far, looks as follows:

Number-One Contender's Match - Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho vs. Eddie Guerrero

World Tag Team Title Match - The World's Greatest Tag Team (c) vs. Rob Conway/Nick Dinsmore vs. The Basham Brothers

Cruiserweight Title Match - Low-Ki (c) vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.

And just signed...

Television Title Match - AJ Styles (c) vs. The Amazing Red

Be sure to join us next week for Monday Night Explosion!
DarkAndEvilBastardPosted on 05/12/04 at 22:04:45

Lance Storm beats Holly!  Yay!

I liked the Lesnar-Goldust match, but Lesnar's attack seems odd unless it's setting up Lesnar vs Dreamer and not Lesnar vs Benoit yet, because Benoit's looking kinda busy.

Orton vs DDP should have been built up more, because Orton freakin' uses DDP's finisher...=)

Good show, old man!

JoshiQPosted on 05/21/04 at 02:18:05

Looks like a good card.

Orton's interview kills! AWESOME!!!

Yeah, Orton is by far cooler than Angle or Jericho.

The Mayhem four corners match looks to be pretty good. All four have had pretty good build-up to get the spot.

Shaniqua kind of scares me. I have a problem with some of the new talent like the Bashams as I haven't watched wrestling in about 2 years so I have no idea what they look like. Hopefully you'll give me something to work with as it comes to their personalities.

I'm a little surprised to see AJ going over Red with a pinfall. I thought you might wait until Mayhem. Or maybe it's not over? Hmm....

I don't overly like the idea of the triangle tag match. I think the Bashams should be pushed a little more and let the WGTT and Dinsmore and Conway finish their feud.

Goldust is looking like a bad-ass so far in your fed. He's quickly becoming my favorite character in your circuit.
But I'm still glad to see Lesnar continues his dominating ways. I'm looking forward to seeing him fight one of the top guys.

I'm also surprised you had Credible go over Mysterio. I thought he was more comedy then threat. But, eh, nothing to complain about really.

Thank you! I was hoping you weren't going to have DDP go over Orton. DDP just doesn't really fit in here, I don't think.

The Benoit-Dreamer match was never in doubt, but a fun read. Anyways, I really didn't expect Lesnar to jump right into things by attacking Benoit like that. I don't know if I like it or not. Regardless, should be one helluva match at Mayhem. That is if it happens.

Good job in putting Jericho over Michaels. I was thinking that he may not been considered as much of a challenge as the other three. Good end to the show.

Your show continues to impress me. Great job. So far there really hasn't been anything to complain about.
Snabbit888Posted on 05/21/04 at 04:47:47

I don't like doing Benoit/Lesnar so early, but there aren't any other real feasible challengers for Benoit with the 4-corners #1 contender situation, so I had to kinda hotshot it.  Not too happy about that, but it will be good, methinks.
