[GCW] High Voltage - 5/2/04

Snabbit888Posted on 05/10/04 at 07:05:35

High Voltage is TAPED before Explosion goes on the air on Mondays.  This show, for now, is going to be extremely angle light.  This is so that some of the wrestlers who aren't involved in any major angles or couldn't be fit on Explosion can still get some ring time in.

=============================

Match #1
Teddy Hart vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Teddy Hart is coming off a loss at Deadly Draw against Matt Hardy, and he looked to rebound here on the debut edition of High Voltage.  Chavo Guerrero Jr. is no pushover though and went right for the third-generation superstar from Calgary.  A good back and forth match, Teddy Hart gets an impressive win over a veteran cruiserweight with the Open Hart Surgery.

Teddy Hart pinned Chavo Guerrero Jr. with the Open Hart Surgery in 0:10:32.
Rating: ** 1/2

Match #2
Nick Dinsmore vs. Sean O'Haire

Nick Dinsmore and Rob Conway are known primarily for their tag team abilities, but tonight Dinsmore was in action in singles competition against Sean O'Haire. The crowd ahs really taken a liking to Nick Dinsmore as he continues to draw wonderful reactions everywhere GCW travels.  Dinsmore seems to light up because of this crowd reaction and it shows in his ring work.  In what has to be considered a minor upset due to O'Haire being primarily a singles wrestler, Dinsmore hit the German Suplex and got a nice victory.

Nick Dinsmore pinned Sean O'Haire with the German Suplex in 0:11:16.
Rating: *** 1/4

Match #3
MAIN EVENT
Television Title Match
"The Role Model" AJ Styles (c) vs. Shark Boy

It may have been the main event, but it was an unspectacular match.  It was solid, just too short to really develop into much.  Shark Boy tried had, but he was outclassed by Styles.  Styles hits the Styles Clash to make a sucessful title defense.

AJ Styles pinned Shark Boy with the Styles Clash in 0:04:40.
Rating: ***
(AJ Styles retained the GCW Television Title.)

Teddy Hart going over Chavo Jr. could be good. Teddy might be an interesting addition to Explosion.

I'm a little surprised you had Dinsmore going over O'Haire. I hope you get something going for O'Haire later on.

And nice for AJ to get an okay win.

A blah show, but I think you meant for it to be kind of blah. :) I like the idea of a pure wrestling show though.

Yeah, there's not too muchb to High Voltage right now.  3 or 4 matches, just so some guys are getting work basically.  It's not meant to be anything but that right now.
